Just found this song on an 'Intense Studying' playlist on Spotify. I'm so entirely enamored by this song that I am no longer studying, but now watching/listening on repeat! What an elegant composition!!!! Chills up and down my body, heart soaring, soul singing, mind tingling, goosebumps again and again. Fabulous!!!!!
@Simon Simon Haha okay...your loss? Steve Reich continues to be one of my favorite modern composers. Also...replying to comments from three years ago? Go practice lol.
Hello. M. euwww subscriber of this video, made an interesting comment regarding my work of analysis and translation of the subtitles for hearing impaired people of the movie "A Hidden Life". I checked this channel in order to appraise the quality of the person that made the comment. Now I see this duet may be part of the OST by James H. Newton; it´s so surprisingly similar in style that I immediately felt I was seeing scenes of that movie and the moods the soundtrack conveyed for each part of the story. The way our brain works is amazing. A nice surprise: this music can really fix your mood in a few minutes and make your day bright again. Luckily, you chose the bright side of he OST, and not the nightmarish compositions of sounds in the scenes of jail, isolation, echoes in silence and madness. Those are also great works, but I, personally, wouldn´t listen to them again : I already had a really bad time describing those sounds in the subtitles. I mean Aaron Guilhuis' "Inside the Walls" or the anguishing mix of sounds that compose Arsenije Jovanovic's "Concerto Grosso Balkanico" So, thanks to you, and to M. euwww for leading me to this agreeable discovery. spxt
A pissing contest between the two violinists, the bloke clearly giving it the beans in an attempt to come out on top, the conductor can’t take it seriously at all (does anyone even look at him?). Brilliant all the same 😜
It’s the first time I’ve seen violinist move their bow so much but don’t project as much as they seem to. From the looks of their bowing, I expected it to be loud and grand but instead it was a nice and balanced (at times it is not) dynamics. It could be a mic situation or the violin. But this is simply outstanding...
I just heard it live, performed by Simfonietta Cracovia in Breda, and I'm telling you, it was out of this world.

That's Steve Reich for you. He is the only artist who I can listen to every single piece and love it. Though Duet is something special.
It is not a song!
Is this guy genius or what...the more I listen to Steve Reich the more I like him.

Just minimalistic
Sounds like fairly current Reich. Actually a fantastic work, pointing to the common elements of minimalism and counterpoint
Breathtakingly beautiful. Outstanding duet violinists. But I think conductor should not grin like this.
he's probably having a really good time!
lastcontinent
He’s enjoying himself
I am pretty sure you too grin to some extent when you conduct an orchestra.
Why?
what the fuck lol
