When she opened and closed the Valentine's Day show for upmarket lingerie line, Victoria's Secret, model Carmen Kass knew she'd finally made it.
Its a long way from Estonia to New York, but after being discovered in a supermarket at the age of fourteen it seemed an inevitable path for the statuesque (179cm/5'10") blond.
And although previous models for Victoria's Secret have included the industry's biggest (Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson, Stephanie Seymour, Eva Herzigova, and Vendela), the twenty-one year old easily filled the starring role, with her 89-60-89 (35"-23.5"-35") figure.
Since first strutting her stuff on the Milan catwalk eighteen months ago, Carmen has done both the Spring and Fall collections in not only Milan, but Paris and New York. Her portfolio includes covers for Vogue, Bazaar, and Elle, as well as work for Tommy Hilfiger, Versace, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Donna Karan, Max Mara, Byblos and Ungaro. Not bad for a girl who confesses that she's not that interested in fashion !
More comfortable in jeans, Carmen is not a model who lives and breathes her work, preferring to maintain a life outside of the competitive industry. And nobody has been more surprised by her success than Carmen, who is nonetheless grateful for the opportunities it has given her.
