The Krita team is always working hard to exceed expectations. There is only 1 free software that matters and that's Krita. It rivals most paid softwares too.
in the description I also mention the Inkscape software, OBS, and Kdenlive, the tool that i use for my videos. Blender is in another league, but Krita could be there with more support. THanks a lot for promoting it :) krita.org/en/support-us/donations/
The brushes feel so natural. I use it for 2D animation frames. Then I export to GTS for line tracing and Krita for coloring. Krita is excellent. For my 2D workflow it's really the best
omg being able to select color from references is like magic (no other software have it) really helpful and time saving stuff when you have character sheet to follow
That sample color from an external source is really a game changer, glad krita continues growing and this is reason enough to support them whenever possible. Looking forward for future updates!
I am delighted to see that Krita continues to progress, I have some ideas that I think should be considered for implementation: 1. Vector brushes for PROFESSIONAL ANIMATION, just like in Adobe Animate or CSP. 2. More variety of themes and customisation options, allow the community to do more varied interface work instead of just changing four colours, for now you could start with allowing to change the icons. 3. Integrate GLAZE to protect works from AI.
Thanks for the ideas. I take note. The question is not about the ideas. Look this wolthera.info/2021/10/study-of-editable-strokes-for-inking/ the problem is that Wolthera (the coder) is doing already a lot of work, so we need more coders and that means more money in terms of sponsors or donations. the more support, the more features :D
I just updated krita, here are my first impressions. It's start up time is way faster now, wow. I really appreciate the animation playback improvement, it was pretty unusable with audio before, but now I might try incorporating audio more often. The screen color picker and multiple transform features are also really nice. Thank you krita dev team for your hard work!
Having almost 1000+hrs in Krita I have to say these new features are exactly what I've been wanting out of the software since I started basically. I'm pretty excited for the new features.
I’ve been using Krita as my standard drawing program for years now, and I just wanted to say thank you for enabling me to make my work with your amazing program! I’ll be sure do donate sometime in the future!
As a Broke Student + Hobbyist artist, I'm so grateful to krita developer for making krita as a free and open source application. Much much love for all the features and i hope in the future i can also make donation to keep supporting krita ❤
Krita is amazing... not a day goes without using it, sometimes fast editing some images other days drawing something cool, thanks to everyone that helped in creating such a tool...
soon enough when I get a job, you know, as hell where my money goes to!! to everyone who worked hard on this app, thank you so much, and thank you so much for bringing it on the Android tablet too!!!
for that reason we need more support .things are comlicated, and we need time, effort, and money to create new features and integrate them correctly and in an easy way
Just so you know, i love you guys! You are making an essentially professional software accessible to artists that arent as fortunate. You are making not just a software, you are creating artists.
The separate eraser is huge for me! I use a lot of other drawing applications and Krita's was the only one that had a different eraser method making it much harder to adjust. I'll definitely try to use Krita more now😀
These are very useful updates, love the quality of life improvements! Thanks Krita for allowing me not to be forced to use PS, even professionally and for so many years now. Please keep it up!
Amazing! Really glad that the rotation widget and the sample colour outside of the program is a feature now. The multi-layer transform change is going to save a lot of time as well!
Last time I used Krita was in 2020 and then switched to CSP because of stabilization and the fact that CSP doesn't recognizes your finger/hand as a brush stroke. But Krita developed sooo much in those years! I really wanna try it again! I always missed the brushes from Krita since it also can teach you a lot about traditional art and how to use those tools in trad art.
This video was missing for all of the previous Krita updates. I did not know what updates I was getting when upgrading to the next version. This is amazing. Please consider making such videos for major upgrades. Thank You! And Yes, the New Earaser Mode is definitely something that was obviously missing. 😁
I take note, thanks a lot for your comment. This type of videos are more complex than a timelapse that is the reason why it takes more time. And about the erasing i have implemented already on my workflow. :)
@@KritaOrgPainting Yes I also immediately integrated the eraser method into my environment after I saw your video. It really was a necessary feature. Best of Thanks to your team!
So excited to use the eraser with both options available now. But even more so, the screen color selector! game changer for following reference thats off the canvas! Krita team are incredible
The external sample color selector is life changing (bye bye to Just Color Picker). So excited about the new text tool!!! You are doing an amazing job. Infinite thanks 🙏

I am excited too about the text tool. It would be amazing , as i read in Wolthera's (a coder) official blog
Thanks krita I'm still 2 years using krita but to me its easier to use in making animation but i hope you can Fix The Audio so that we can move or Place where the audio can start for lip syncing
Having the eraser NOT be its own seperate tool was my main gripe with krita since Im soo use to photoshop and clip studio, it screwed with my muscle memory a lot! Now I need to give krita another try :)
Wonderful updates! Thanks for providing this software. It is so good. I use it daily and it's such a breeze of fresh air compared to other image editing tools.
The only art program videos I am invested in are for krita. Absolutely love it and been planning to donate for all the effort everyone that works on it ❤❤
a lot of amazing quality of life changes and upgrades to the software! Exciting stuff to see indeed! very excited about the brush history update particularly
Krita is one the best painting- animation software, thanks a lot guys. The software would be perfect if you add the option for a blank space or safe area out of the frame for animation to work the camera movement and drawing outside the frame. Also, If each frame in the timeline would have its own group layer it would be the most amazing thing in the world.
i really like that eraser preset change because, sometimes you want very specifically an eraser with NO texture, or maybe a very specific eraser, rather than your current brush, but also having the option to do the current brush as well, that's good
Rotation brush, new eraser, color docker, multiple transformation and select layers menu are my top!! I loved each feature! Thanks to all developers for their hard work!🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 I’m excited for krita 5.3 already!
my favorite update is the ability to make some adjustments/distortions in two or more layers at once. While I was used to often merging layers/flatting the image and refining over the "current end-result," it's always nice to have non-destructive and "less-destructive" ways of doing things.
I started using this program recently and it has become my favorite! I also adapted quickly, it is easy to use, very customizable and has a lot of options! Well done 🎉❤👏
I am the most happy about the new erasing mode that I know from so many other programs (though default one has its use as well). Maybe it shouldn't be so hidden and also the button could have unique icon. Like eraser with tiny brush in corner. Second thing I am happy about is the rotation widget. Maybe the ability to control Fade of the brush tip through some widget or shortcut? I know some people that have process where they constantly chage edge softness while painting (myself included).

Let's see how devs start to use lager with the brush editor, and I am very excited but there are a lot of fields to work on and limited resources. We would like to have even more support to boost Krita
@ Oh. Sure. I donated multiple times now in 2023. Will continue doing that in 2024. I realized it's actually possible to assign keyboard shortcut to Fade. It's amazing how customizable Krita is. Looking forward to future improvements.
Holy crap a lot of these features with some of the functions this program has impresses me a lot which might not mean much because i haven't been an artist for a decade now but looking at the progress of how this program is improving along with seeing many artist friends of mine told me every now and then things like trying out different brushes, tools and such this makes me wanna let them know to give this program a shot because it does seem like it is pretty rich when it comes to features.
Your video showed me two things I didn't know about: increasing the number of brushes in the preset history (YAY!) and the diamond-shaped colour selector. Can't wait to go play with both those new treats.
According to KnowZeroX the issue with Krita on Ipad is twofold: 1. Apple is discontinuing OpenGL support for iOS because they have no interest in open standards and are trying to force everyone onto Metal. Which means an iOS version would need special work. 2. Krita is distributed under the GPLv3 open source license, which again conflicts with the way Apple likes things in their closed garden. The only way it can possibly happen realistically is when Krita moves to newer versions of QT which support metal and Apple is forced to let people sideload apps. And, there is someone who will actually do the port (Krita is underfunded with limited developers who are doing their best) So yeah... For the time being, your only options for using the iPad with Krita are either: Visualize a Windows instance on a computer and remote connect or Use the tablet as a drawing pad for your PC.
I'm also a colour lover! For many years I've been using Krita and I love Krita! I use the Colour Selector Docker only because of its colour history. I mostly use exact colours so I mostly use the Palette Docker and the Artistic Colour Selector Docker, which is an amazing tool on Krita. Thank you for updating the Palette Docker! 😁
Awesome start screen! new Eraser-presets - unique feature. TRANFORM LAYERS TOGETHER - IS THE BEST SUPER FEATURE!!! Finally!!!! Very need Text improvements in future versions! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO!

CSP has it. but yeah is cool
Ain't no way this is not sarcastic 😂
That sample color from an external source is really a game changer, glad krita continues growing and this is reason enough to support them whenever possible. Looking forward for future updates!
It really is! but Don't forget that Krita has another plugin called krita-artists.org/t/imagine-board-plugin/38423
I am delighted to see that Krita continues to progress, I have some ideas that I think should be considered for implementation:

Indeed, a vector layer to tweak the lineart without degradation would be a time saver.
