    Krita is becoming the Blender for 2D art.

    The Krita team is always working hard to exceed expectations. There is only 1 free software that matters and that's Krita. It rivals most paid softwares too.

      in the description I also mention the Inkscape software, OBS, and Kdenlive, the tool that i use for my videos. Blender is in another league, but Krita could be there with more support. THanks a lot for promoting it :) krita.org/en/support-us/donations/

      The brushes feel so natural. I use it for 2D animation frames. Then I export to GTS for line tracing and Krita for coloring. Krita is excellent.
      For my 2D workflow it's really the best

    Holy crap a lot of these features with some of the functions this program has impresses me a lot which might not mean much because i haven't been an artist for a decade now but looking at the progress of how this program is improving along with seeing many artist friends of mine told me every now and then things like trying out different brushes, tools and such this makes me wanna let them know to give this program a shot because it does seem like it is pretty rich when it comes to features.

    Hey devs, I saw your update on website that you work on comic balloons and comic panel layers. That is cool. I would also like a workspace for storyboards were you can open the storyboard frames as images, and in the overview you can easily re-arrange the layout and order of the frames.

    Krita version 5.2 and above always ruin the PSD file after edit and export. other drawing apps, even Photoshop, can't read those PSD files exported from Krita. How is it in latest version?

    I am delighted to see that Krita continues to progress, I have some ideas that I think should be considered for implementation:
    1. Vector brushes for PROFESSIONAL ANIMATION, just like in Adobe Animate or CSP.
    2. More variety of themes and customisation options, allow the community to do more varied interface work instead of just changing four colours, for now you could start with allowing to change the icons.
    3. Integrate GLAZE to protect works from AI.

    • @yavnrh
      @yavnrh 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Indeed, a vector layer to tweak the lineart without degradation would be a time saver.

    • @KritaOrgPainting

      Thanks for the ideas. I take note. The question is not about the ideas. Look this wolthera.info/2021/10/study-of-editable-strokes-for-inking/ the problem is that Wolthera (the coder) is doing already a lot of work, so we need more coders and that means more money in terms of sponsors or donations. the more support, the more features :D

      Do you know why Krita use that type of Clipping? because is more powerful. You can create several groups with different interactions. Clipping with layers is only linear in the layer stack. Maybe this helps. docs.krita.org/en/tutorials/clipping_masks_and_alpha_inheritance.html spread this because there are more people don't know that impressive thing.

The software would be perfect if you add the option for a blank space or safe area out of the frame for animation to work the camera movement and drawing outside the frame. I am the most happy about the new erasing mode that I know from so many other programs (though default one has its use as well). Maybe it shouldn't be so hidden and also the button could have unique icon. Like eraser with tiny brush in corner. Second thing I am happy about is the rotation widget.
    Maybe the ability to control Fade of the brush tip through some widget or shortcut? I know some people that have process where they constantly chage edge softness while painting (myself included).

      @azlantg 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @KritaOrgPainting well it's a feature that got removed that I've been wanting back for years. It didn't make sense that the animation docker would be the only one without a lock. As you have to drag the timeline. Often times it means you would accidentally drag the whole dock and un dock it which is very annoying. Unless you were very careful each time. Which wastes a lot of time. Not too mention anyone with a disability not being able to use it at all if it affects their hands as pin point precision is impossible. Now professional are able to use the program as opposed to switching to another. It's these small changes that make a big difference in user count. I'm sure you'll see a lot more animators coming soon.

      According to KnowZeroX the issue with Krita on Ipad is twofold:
      1. Apple is discontinuing OpenGL support for iOS because they have no interest in open standards and are trying to force everyone onto Metal. Which means an iOS version would need special work.
      2. Krita is distributed under the GPLv3 open source license, which again conflicts with the way Apple likes things in their closed garden.
      The only way it can possibly happen realistically is when Krita moves to newer versions of QT which support metal and Apple is forced to let people sideload apps. And, there is someone who will actually do the port (Krita is underfunded with limited developers who are doing their best)
      So yeah...
      For the time being, your only options for using the iPad with Krita are either:
      Visualize a Windows instance on a computer and remote connect or
      Use the tablet as a drawing pad for your PC.

    Thanks for all the effort !! Krita is a fantastic painting software.
    I just would like to ask what has happened to the brush engine since version 5.2.0. In these newest versions (including 5.2.2) the brushes all have this strange behaviour: while one is drawing the strokes have a certain texture and when you release the stroke, the texture flickers and the end result is a slightly difents stroke with a slightly different texture. That was not happening in version 5.1.5
    While one can certainly use the software, that strange flickering and chaning behaviour feels quite uncomfortable. I hope newer updates correct that problem.
    Thanks anyhow for creating such an awesome program!!

    First of all thank you so much for all the hard work, Krita is awesome, right now because I work in NPR 3d I use CSP because gives the option to import 3d data and gas 3d model enhancement, I used to texture and animate 3d models buy a no photo realistic style, for animations with a style like Netflix Arcane, Dota, Castelvania and blue eyes samurai; all the mentioned shows are made with 3d animation, but us hard because is not a tool that allows us to texture 3d models fast and easily, Blender allows me to use Krita as my illustration editing software then when I open a texture image of my model opens automatically in Krita, but is a go forward and back process that takes a lot of work and time, can we have a way to get import 3d data and 3d model enhancement in Krita as what we have in CSP?

With the settings before, I also had either both with pressure sense ore none. Its ways easier to adapt for people used to these other programs, and I had lots of gripes with that toggle, to be honest.

    Thank you Ramon, great helpful video! Really nice new features, Krita getting better every day, big thanks for developers team, and everybody who's involved in development, growth and prosperity this beautiful creative tool!
    I personally prefer use HSV Advanced color selector, the square one, it's perfect for my taste, but diamond shape looks pretty interesting, i should definitely give it a try👍
    About toolbar setting, my version of Krita is up to date, but for some reason i can't choose edit toolbar, there is no such option for me, only file and brushes and stuff🤷‍♂

    I really appreciate the brush preset history docker, very helpful! However, I wish there was a display setting for this docker, and I hope it will be included in Krita 5.3. I've been using the ten brushes preset script for erasers because i use two erasers, but I like that the toggle eraser preset changes the brush preset window into erasers when it's activated. The wide gamut color selector is the one I used ever since krita has this feature, i love it! The sample screen color feature is a great addition, i usually use windows power toy color picker but now i will use this instead! The new transform feature is a huge help, omg! I love the layer info feature. The select from menu feature will be helpful for me if I set one of my pen press keys as the mouse right button, alas i've been using them for other functions. Can't wait for the text tool improvement! Many thanks for the update, Krita, and for the video, Ramon!

    I cannot stress this enough, yall need to seriously look into updating your save system on your android application. These little updates you have in mind are cool, but it tends to not really matter when the key features of a drawing app work horrendously. I'd highly consider ironing out your applications issues across all platforms before worrying about adding in fancy extras.

    • @nicomarcelino9439
      @nicomarcelino9439 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, but it's important to consider that since Krita is FOSS, different people are working on the desktop features and different people are working on the apps for other platforms. Both can happen at the same time. It's just that I guess development for other platforms are not going as fast as desktop.

    • @KritaOrgPainting
      @KritaOrgPainting  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Is easy to understand. Development requires money and time (of course human resources hired with that money not only volunteers). Krita already works in 4 platforms at the same time. Look for another software doing the same. Yes, is not easy. If you want to contribute with your ideas go to krita-artists.org and there you can create a post. Thanks.

    It would be great, if we could get option for color selector where dynamic from white to ful color would be not as linear standard use like 0-100 hue, but where we get more real color range where from 0-100 we go by small change with color dynamic.
    For better understand i will try to describe it - when color go for full color to brighter part for example we go from 100% green to 100% white its get not only white+ but some minimal yellow addition [that addition will fade away on end of white scale], and when go to darker its get not only black+ but some blue+. Hard to describe it but that dynamic color mixer as a OPTION would be great advance for Krita and if we could choose that in mix color type for addition would be crazy good option for artists.
    I was once see something like 6corner shape [almost like like some gem] color selector, where main color was on NortEeast, full gray was on SW side and additional color use was on N for yellow[or choosen by user] and S for blue [or choosed by user]. NorthWest was for white and SE was for black. [i have hope i wasn't mess describe xD]
    Mix of color in that selector wasn't best [had small bug], but when used give more natural and realistic feeling.
    Don't remember main program name, but it was personal writed addon for it - yes, i was it see on computer of friend of my friend.
    Bug in that color selector was that sometimes wasn't add expected 15% additional color on full N or S side [yes it was maked for that % addition] but sometimes give 50%. But choose color again was go as expected.
    Idk if Krita devs are avaible to make something like this, but it would be great option.
    P.S. sorry for my english lang 😉

    my favorite update is the ability to make some adjustments/distortions in two or more layers at once. While I was used to often merging layers/flatting the image and refining over the "current end-result," it's always nice to have non-destructive and "less-destructive" ways of doing things.

      @@KritaOrgPaintingThanks for your answer ! Well, I would like to be able to click on every created point of the curve to move them, and also to be able to manipulate the 2 handles of each point to change the orientation of the curve or make it a sharp angle. All that in order to change the design of the curve and make it exactly how I want before it turns into a drawing or a selection. (for example, for the Bezier selection tool, this way it could follow exactly the curves and angles of a complexe line we want to select)
