I mean there is just nothing fun about lifting weights, going to the gym, and burpees F*ing suck. Who enjoys working out ?! it sucks ass and I have to force myself to do it 🤮
@@a-terrible-fate532 well there are actually people that love working out, like me. I think the dopamine comes from what you will be once you’ve reached your goals for some people. Tbh, I dont even know why it’s fun for me though lol.
Thank you so much for for sharing this! Finally, someone having the courage and speaking a truth that needs to be heard. For some even working out 3x a week is exhausting, doesn’t make them any less of a person, weak or unfit, it just is. As you say, walking, yoga, good diet and being happy is a “work out” as well. Three cheers Heather, well done!
Thank you so so much for this. I'm sick and tired of all these fitness geeks who try to make me feel bad for not being into a hardcore workout routine, it's simply not for me. I always thought that there must be another way to be healthy and happy whithout torturing your own body, and here you are, telling me exactly that. THANK YOU. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I know the majority of people still praises the fitness addicts who show off their shredded muscled up body, but pay little attention to people like you who are showing us more natural ways to do sports.
Intense workouts always worsened my migraines. I'm Indian so my mother always said to me that I should practice yoga and praanayam instead. It is kind of frustrating in the beginning because yoga is nothing like other exercises. It requires a lot of patience.. But I'm glad I listened to my mother because it has helped my migraines alot! :)
A Chinese-American friend of mine told me that in his family's culture, they call all the heavy weightlifting and aerobics that we Euro/Americans do, "breaking the body".
I've had a similar experience so I can really relate. I used to practice HIIT 4-6 days a week and it was making me exhausted and super hungry all the time, messing with my hormones, blood sugar, sleep... When I was forced to stop exercising because of an injury and wisdom teeth surgery, I went through a small mental crisis :) But it's really helped me to find a healthier routine. I now only practice strength training 2 to 3 times a week max, no more cardio. I go for a walk with my dog every day if I can, in nature. I try to stretch regularly. Just be more gentle with my body. Thanks for sharing your story Heather! Love x Julie
Julie Van den Kerchove Hi Julie! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m so glad that you’ve found a gentler way now that works better for you. Crazy how we think we have to work so hard eh?! Love and hugs xoxo 💋
@@sweetlyrawdesserts Yes totally crazy! I got so indoctrinated by all the fitness 'advice' and ideals out there.. Trying to find balance is a work in progress :)
Julie Van den Kerchove Yes! We are so bombarded with information!! So proud of you for all that you’ve worked through 💜💜💜You’re such an inspiration my dear.
I can relate. Felt jaded. Took 3 months off. Felt the best I had in over 10 years. I have since discovered that bodybuilders and even Olympic athletes take regular sustained breaks. Of course most per$oral trainers or gyms won’t mention this for obvious reasons.
It's so true. I was a runner for a couple years. I was addicted to the runner's high but when I looked at myself in a mirror I realized I hadn't lost a pound and actually looked a little pudgy in areas. I stopped running and started walking a few times a week and did some light weight lifting. The weight came off in about a week and this is SO much easier.
Thanks for talking about this topic. I didn't find many videos about it, most of the ones I found say "don't look for excuses and do it anyway." I come from a similar background to you, I worked out 5/6 days a week and that "approved" what I ate. I went to the gym almost every day. A year ago I left social media, so I wasn't having that bombardment of fitness people to compare myself to and feel less than. However, I was trying to get back to the gym several times. Every time I came back, I was afraid. Every time I quit, it was because of health problems. I didn't want to be sick again. Now it's been two months since I left the gym, I'm doing yoga every day, since I have to do some physical activity for health, but my body feels good, and I didn't have any more complications so far 🥳
You have to do it nearly every day & any slip will set your body back weeks. On top of that it can never be a comfortable part of the daily routine as in order for it to be effective you have to keep pushing past your comfort. I've hurt myself multiple times & it felt like a badge of honor. Like hell yeah I worked out so hard I can't walk properly for two weeks or I feel like I've been punched in the chest. Exercise is awful & not something I wonna make part of my normal life. My nutrition is fantastic. Thats all I need.
Stumbled across this only now, You have literally explained the feeling that happens in the legs so spot on! Seriously I have had this exact issue, when I’ve tried to speak about it in the past with trainers or other therapist I was told that it’s all in my head because naturally I’m a lean small build but it’s so real to feel like you’re carrying “heavy” and inflamed legs around all day 😣 Thankyou for sharing!
This is so refreshing... I'm so glad somebody is talking about this. I've been slowly trying to control my exercise addiction for years and I've recently realized I have to stop fully for now, my body is shutting down... I'm a very "active" person w/o those extra hours of activity... I've been doing yoga for 8 years but pile other stuff on top of that so for now, turning hard into meditation (stillness) n walks to hopefully restore the years of berating my body. Sooo grateful I found this video today. Thank you from my heart ❤
I’m so happy I came across this video, This may be a long comment, but if you happen to see it please read!❤️ I have always been an active person growing up. I was always riding bikes, rollerblading, running around with friends, jumping on the trampoline, etc. I never had a goal of burning calories in my mind it was always just activity I found fun. Unfortunately when I was 15 I became anorexic and overexercise was a huge part of my ED. The only time I’ve taken a break from exercise since I was 15 was for about 6 months while I was recovering. Ever since then I’ve been consistent, despite yo-yoing between anorexia and binge eating into my early 20s. The common denominator for all my eating disorders? Exercise. I’m 23 now, almost 24, and I don’t struggle with food at all anymore but exercise is something I still can’t let go of. Seems like a healthy addiction right? Wrong. About a year and a half ago I started noticing inflammation through my body. Muscle soreness all the time, that puffy/bloated feeling you stated, issues with digestion, even my gums around my teeth will get randomly inflamed and bleed (and even my dentist is puzzled by this because I take great care of my teeth). And most recently-the most devastating thing-my husband and I are having troubles conceiving after 7 months of trying. Though no doctors have told me this (in fact most doctors encourage the standard “exercising 3-5x per week is healthy”) I have this gut feeling that exercise is causing all of this inflammation and hormone havoc in my body. I’ve been searching all over the internet trying to find people stating that stopping exercise is what finally helped them but I couldn’t find ANYTHING until I found your video. There’s a part of my brain that will always struggle with exercise being addictive and we live in a fitness dominated world which makes it hard, but your video gives me hope ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your story 💕💜. I’m glad to hear that my experience is helpful. I know how hard it can be in a world where we’re encouraged to exercise more. Sending you best wishes and hugs as you move forward 🙏
Same here, after years of restricting calories to only 1200 a day and hit workouts 6 days a week I tapered off and am now only doing Pilates twice a week and strength training three times a week, well walking and having increased my calories. But lately, after about 4 months of switching to strength training I feel like my body is breaking down even further. I stopped doing hit because I was losing muscle strength and feeling fatigued all the time, but now with the weightlifting, every time I do a session my deep sleep goes to almost nothing and my legs are constantly aching and joints are hurting. After taking a week off of weight lifting I started feeling better, but then I did a session two days ago and immediately my muscles in my legs ache constantly again in my sleep tanked again. For context, I typically get 9 hours of sleep a night and my deep sleep is usually an hour to an hour and a half of that 9 hours. I also eat whole foods and no sugars and mostly grass-fed and organic. I have concluded that it has to be the strength training that is triggering this not to mention, along with the bad sleep and the achy legs, my anxiety level goes through the roof. When I took that week off all of these symptoms got better. The anxiety went away, the deep sleep came back, and the chronic ache in my legs went away. I really feel in my gut that my body is telling me I need to take much longer than a 1-week break from the strength training and maybe only do the Pilates twice a week
As a pretty in shape 21 year old with a fair amount of workout experience. Yeah trust me you get really over it. But you get over it because your head is thinking and feeling too much during the workout. I may stop sometime soon in the next couple years and switch it for something. Bare in mind shes not saying be a lazy moron shes saying you can do something different and still be active in a DIFFERENT way
A lot of working class dudes could get something out of this video. I’d pull heavy skids around, stack heavy objects all day at work then lift weights for an hour after work. Not hard to figure out why felt like crap all the time after my mid-30s. If you’re on your feet at work you have enough exercise, going to the gym after will overtax your system like it did mine. Just eat right.
Working out for 20 years. Then when I went to grad school, a divorce, and appendicitis I stopped working out. For 5 years I slowly gained weight (not eating healthy)… the weird thing? It’s like my body went through puberty finally at 32 years old. My body filled out, my curves and boobs came in, and magically my allergies and colds/flu decreased dramatically. I’m fatter and now I’m slowly trying to balance light workouts (dancing, Zumba, walking, etc). So, it may not all come in right away… it can take years and life circumstances to reverse an over-worked out body. I looked great back then but I felt like shit most of the time. I look heavier, curvier, and more jiggly now but I feel better. A friend tried to take me to Tabata and I nearly passed out. I’ve always struggled with high pace workouts where there is a lot of vertical change (up, down, up, down) because I get dizzy and faint. Barre is typically my favorite and walking.
I totally relate to you girl. I faced the same bloating problem in my stomach. Whenever I worked out. I felt heavy. But now with healthy eating and mindful eating, Im more better. Like you said, I should try doing some yoga and walking. Bcoz at the end, "staying happy" is more important.
Thank you so much for talking about this. No one is talking about this. I am having to search so many different combinations of keywords to try to find someone talking along these lines. I'm about to check out your channel and playlists and see if you talk any more about this. Thank you!
I stopped with exercising months ago. I used to walk 10 000 steps a day. With no rest for the wicked. I bought my "Smart clock" and this was a result for a year. I was stressed out, with no energy to cook, it was just horrible. When I saw consuming 300 calories, I ate more sweets gaining weight. So you may never lose weight that way. Now after months I am so lean I do not need to workout ever. I only walk when going to shop once a week and sometimes I listen dance music and rave at my house burning same calories leaving nowhere. Amazing!!!
As a guy I'm more or less agree with you. I do not like working out at all I don't like resistance training or any of that stuff. I don't like it when my legs are always exhausted I don't like the extra added hunger that resistance training brings on top of the caloric deficit that I'm already in. I have now gone back to good old brisk walking at least 10K steps a day. Because it is something that I do not mind doing and that I can keep up with in the long run. I don't need to have a six pack but I would like to be fairly lean so that I can take my shirt off without being uncomfortable 👍 and look good with my shirt off
I completely agree, I don't believe that our bodies were meant to do hardcore exercise training almost every day of the week. However, with that being said, what worked for us back then in hunter gatherer days may not apply nowadays. We are living much longer than ever now and our lifestyles are far more sedentary than ever. Our food is heavily processed and I the quality of our nutrition is a huge factor in causes of inflammation, including why we have so much autoimmine disease, heart disease, and cancers. I do believe you are on to something here in regards to the taxing effects of chronic exercising or too intense workouts, it def can be a stressor to our bodies including our hormomes and our poor adrenals are getting burnt out. However simply eating healthier isnt going to work for everyone. When I cut out strength trainkng, my body gets soft and my muscle tone atrophies completely over time. Even if I eat as clean as possible, a healthy diet doesnt do it for me. In the other end, overly intense working out leaves me burnt out and feeling hormonally unstable and inflammed. I found a balance of taking out the HIIT training and long endurance cardio to simply walking on an incline or with some resistance for no more than 20 minutes, it is extremely therapeutic for me. I domt work out every single muscle hardcore anymore. I do glute training which I found to be extremely effective in toning my thighs, calves, my arms, my core, my back has never felt stronger and better, and the bonus is a curvy aesthetic and nice butt. If I stop any kind of resistance training, my body personally gets very soft, droopy, and unshapely regardless of good diet. Our lifestyles, food, and longevity today is so different from back then, I think the problem is not so much the exercising. Your video has made some great points, very insightful, and I def agree we dont need to be so hard om our bodies...simply find the balance that works for you. =)
I like your style. I am the same way. I have to do “something”, or I too will get soft and flabby and droopy, so as long as I do resistance such as squats and hip bridges, and use light kettle bell weights and dumbbells etc, I will stay nice and toned, I’m just so sick of feeling like I have to do these intense HIIT workouts or running etc. although I have found a five minute HIIT that works wonders too, but honestly sometimes I just don’t even want to do the damn 5 minute video🤣🤣🤣🤣Lol. I guess the older we get, we realize the more important things😚
@@brandisd.5042 =) We think alike. If you think about it, nobody liftes weights or spent time running like a rat on a treadmill back then. They simply were spending time outside, in the sunshine, walking A lot, building shelter, hunting, etc...that alone coupled with eating "real" non processed food was enough to stay lean, toned, and generally healthy. Now we work so much and stay indoors, we are kept busy shuffling to and from places and errands in cars, by the time all i said and done we ate up all our time doing very sedentary things, we are left with no motivation, time or energy to actually do anything productive for our bodies...all.the while eating chemically ridden food...it is what it is but I think WE found some balance in our exercise routines , I dont pressure myself to work out every day, i just go all out when i feel I can. As im getting older, im way more focused on being kind to my body with what i put in iit and on it, trying to take a more natural approach and enjoying experiences. If I let myself go tho, it's not something i can personally accept and deal with and say ohh well. Keep up those workouts when you can girl... well be thankful for it!!!
I appreciate this video. I am being told that a high impact workout circuit is the ONLY way for me to lose a little weight. Ive done lifting and HIIT but it’s not enjoyable for me. I want to be active but I want it to be fun! I don’t want to feel restricted and repetitive. I feel so much better seeing this. I’m ready to be active again❤
It was as if something guided me to your YT channel. I’ve long been plant based with small (very small) amount of meat in my diet AND whenever I did hard workouts since my peri menopause stage, I would be in so much pain all over. The only time I felt good was when I did nothing but walk and stretch. This video is exactly the confirmation I needed. Will cancel my gym membership today and try out the adorable new yoga studio that opened up near me. Thank you Heather!
So glad I came across this when I did! I used to lift 5x a week and do some form of workout the other two days. I had been bombarded from a young age by fitness media telling me I just had to push myself and I was being lazy. I remember feeling VERY fatigued in my late teens. Then my knees started dislocating at 19. I started running and my knees only got worse, I lost 10% of my body weight and had to stop. Went to the doctor and they screened me for EDS, said I didn’t have it and didn’t do anything else for me. My joints would dislocate frequently, I was always fatigued and felt sick all the time, especially after working out. I moved to CO at 21 and ironically stopped working out completely. Not even yoga or Pilates, no intentional exercise at all. I slowly built up to doing yoga daily, hiking 1-2x a week, and doing Pilates or HIIT if I’m feeling like it. I never force myself but I do enjoy these workouts. Since then I feel the best I ever have. Now at 24 I am very active, have an active job (LMT), walk everywhere since I don’t have a car, eat balanced meals. I feel great and honestly stronger and more stable than I did when I was in peak lifting condition 😂
I am watching this now but it is never too late. I really do not enjoy workouts. I got in this unhealthy mindset at some point, and cried while working out. I thought that my belly would get fat and no one would find me attractive. ¨Now I decided to stop. I love Yoga. But never had time because of my workouts. I also had the same problem with my muscles being all swell and trouble with going upstairs I will now walk, do some chill runs, and yoga. And feel better.
I really needed to see this today. For years, I always thought my workouts weren't 'intense' enough to exhaust me so much, because I've never done the routines 'other women' do (the old game of comparison): Things like running, HIIT, weights, etc. Not me. I always stuck with power walking and the occasional hiking trip (partly because of a physical condition too, I can't do certain workouts without suffering a great deal of pain, so those are my go-to's). But more and more, I've pushed it over the years. Started out doing half an hour walks years ago, which is great. Then I upped it to an hour. Now these past several weeks, I've gone to doing over two hours of a walk, and yesterday I was so exhausted and couldn't stop snacking on the first thing available... I realise it was my body searching desperately for food to refuel and repair damage. I feel tired all the time. Hazy. Cold. That 'puffy' feeling you mentioned. Can't stop craving calorie dense foods. The hard part is exercise is also an addiction, and like any addiction, I always end up feeling like I need my fix every morning. But I want to try and do my best to slow down, focus on yoga and shorter walks. Bless you for sharing your story to help others!
Thank you for sharing. I'm sick of feel that burden to always workout! With all my other responsibilities at work and home working out is just added stress. I hate feeling like I have to go hard at the gym everyday. Maybe I will do something low intensity like yoga. I actually feel that getting into yoga could really help with stress.
I am starting to feel the same way. I used to looooooove to workout hard all the time when I was younger ( in my late 20s/early 30s, but I will be 40 in October and to be honest, I am so tired of feeling I have to go hard and do a HIIT workout everyday or run the entire neighborhood, or find hard workouts to do on TH-cam, just so I won’t feel bad for wanting to freaking eat and enjoy foods. It’s all just so crazy. Just like you said, with careers, family, kids, husband, etc. Working out is starting to become a daxx chore. And I am just sick of it, so I’m so glad I saw this video because it’s truly resetting my mind to really apply mindful eating, practicing more deep breathing, and getting a Goodnight sleep consistently, along with eating nutritious of course, and as you said staying active via walking, yoga, and just moving. Heck I went swimming today with my 7 year old son for about an hour, and you know what I told myself, I said this is my exercise for today☺️……Thanks again for this post it has really helped me a lot to change my perspective on doing this aggressive working out all the time 🥰 YOU GO GIRL and ABSOLUTELY I AGREE that we are Women and I loooooooove my Breast and Booty too💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
As a male I totally agree on everything she's saying w and I hope males start having this mentality as well, I'm a cyclists and I don't like going to the gym that much , although society push us to go to the gym
Yes!! I stopped going to the gym because it would just make me more stressed and tired. I feel so much better! Mentally and physically. I still stay active and eat healthy, but I don’t work out and I feel good.
I dont get how some of my friends, especially now that we are in our early 40s, work out so hard 5 to 6 days a week. I was getting injured and fatigued with just 3x a week. In 2019 i switched to more walking and yoga, and feel alot better. Now i just lift once a week, do yoga and walk.
I have a scale that shows me my body composition and when i work out to try to build muscle my body fat % goes up, and even though i have more muscle, my muscle % to weight ratio is worse. So yes, just hiking or elliptical for me!
It's weird that every time you work out even once you get these problems. I guess from stressing so much about exercise, working out became something stressful for you. Probably something psychosomatic. I need my exercise to feel good, also I was born with very weak muscles, and becoming stronger makes me more comfortable. I don't work out to lose weight (I can't afford to lose any weight anyway), I'm just looking to become stronger.
Physical activity is important but if you have a good diet dont sit around all day and dont want to be stronger or anything then you can probably get away with not working out
agreed, I think walking/hiking is good for health and also a much more maintainable form of exercise to stick to and to lose fat like I am currently trying to do. I am in the healthy weight range all be it at the upper end of the healthy range but still I mean who doesn't want to look good and fairly lean with their shirt off? 😁
Thank you sooo much, the same situation happened to me. I workout like crazy to get smaller and ended up swelling I was sooo depressed after my hard work was not giving me the desired outcome. until one day I said enough I’m going to eat right workout less and be the healthiest possible, I have lost 10 pounds just caring for my self, and the swollen belly and thighs are gone, Thank you for sharing.
I love running, biking, and resistance band strength training but I have chronic sciatica so when my hips go out, I'm usually out for anywhere between 3-14 days. Your channel has given me more encouragement. All healthy diets and lifestyles do work because caloric deficient is caloric deficient regardless on how you pull it off. Thanks for the encouragement! I already lost 22 pounds starting from 255 in a matter of 3 months. My currently goal is to go down to 180 (I'm 5,7 btw.) I'm so glad I discovered your channel. Thanks so much!
I now live in the mountain with a big house of 1000 sq meters, and equipped with a gym.... but finally, I just find myself spend less and less time in the gym..why? because I do a lot of housework in the huge house, that kind of thing already burn me down, so, why should I spend more time in my gym?
I feel like the culture of resistance training is a matter of passion I admire the hell out of people that can keep track of everything that goes into it, bc in a way sculpting your body is indeed an art I'm just not one of those people
Working out and exercise are synonymous though. You say you don't workout but you still do yoga and power walking. You are 100% correct about nutrition. Here's my experience: I used to go to gym 4-6 times a week and lift weights. I too was also sore after about 6 months of doing so. I slowly switched to calisthenics and resistance bands over the last few years and started exercising in ways that made me happy and I've actually put on more muscle, more weight, and feel better overall. My favorite exercises are parkour, mosh pits, and dips/pull ups/push ups in the park. Overall, great video and you look really vibrant and happy 😁
THIS is my answer! Would you mind sharing what your diet was like when you lost weight and water retention while decreasing your exercise please? Thank you 🙏
Over exercising creates systemic fatigue that can lead to injuries. The secret is to only do exercises you enjoy and listen to your body. If you’re soar, tired, or have aching joints, your body is telling you to rest. If the exercise doesn’t make you feel better, you’re probably doing too much. Very few people need to exercise 5 to 7 days a week, pro athletes for example. Walking is good for you and is something you do anyway. Do activities you enjoy. If you like it, it becomes something you look forward to doing.
Thank you so much for this video. I used to love exercising as a kid. I'd skate and play sports and move around for fun. It has become a thing of pressure as an adult. Exercise is for weight loss and the male gaze, and I hate it so much! I just want to be able to enjoy moving my body again.
Im a dog owner and spend around 1.5-2h daily walking, to work out on top of that is most days just too much. I think I will try to get more into yoga, as it seems to be a softer approach 🙂
Loved this. I have the same storyline. I used to love working out since I was 14. Now I'm 21 and I never feel like it. I 've tried so many different options, like indoor bike, functional, hiit, running, even electrofitness, and I can not be consistent any more. I ve feeling bloated and tired. Maybe I should start with eating better cause I am petite but I literally eat a lot .
Thank you so much for sharing this! I suddenly started feeling similar to what you mentioned with puffiness, and my thighs rubbing. I tried increasing my workouts and that hasn’t helped. I think it’s also causing my body to feel stress and messing with my hormones and digestion. The last couple of days I’ve only walked and stretched along with a few minutes of gentle movement on a mini trampoline to move lymph. I’m excited to see if it helps. 😊
Tammy Blomsterberg Hi Tammy, thanks for sharing! Ah that’s what I did before too!! Increased my workouts and it only made it worse. So glad to hear that you’ve been taking it easy for the past few days. Keep me posted 🤗😍
Thanks for this video. Very validating. I felt like u did when going upstairs and hills and also another bad dymptom is out of control cravings...but i was afraid to stop working out ..but my body is demanding i go this route so im going to listen
Love this. I’m weight lifting and have gotten so big everywhere from it despite also doing cardio 6 days a week. It’s not a diet issue either. I’m going to give it another 3 months to see if the swelling or body fat reduces. I’m so big I can’t get into my clothes and that was not the case before I started lifting. I am also a woman in my early 40s so who knows if that has something to do with it.
Very good video, when we see that there are other people with the same "problems" it's easy not to be so hard on ourselves. I had several times the same thing you described. And I'm relatively young, 25 years old, healthy weight. If I just train calisthenics and go on light hour-long walks with my dogs, I feel great, full of energy and motivation. now, when I start implementing 1 hour of cycling in my routine, everything starts to get worse, my well being, the health of my joints, my motivation, I gain weight because my hunger becomes disproportionate and enormous, causing me to gain weight . I would say it doesn't take more than 4 days of cardio on the bike for me to start feeling depressed, anxious and lose all my motivation to do anything. the hard part is that i never learn, i stop cycling, i start to feel better, then i start cycling again, I was in this circle a lot, and after your video, this is the end, I will no longer make analogies with athletes ignoring my personal experience with cardio. Athletes are athletes precisely because of this, they are able to recover much faster than an "ordinary" person. thanks for the video.
I can so so relate. I'm stuck in the exact same cycle of feeling fine with 2-3x 30 min run plus 15 minutes of low intensity resistance training with minibands. Then (because I feel energized enough) I up it it to 4 runs per week plus 2x 15 min of HIIT afterwards and then I even up it to 3x HIIT a week. It takes only one to two weeks and I feel absolutely horrible, tired, worn out, bloated, anxious and borderline depressed. I used to be able to exercise 6 days a week doing hours of cardio and boxing sessions but now I'm completely on the edge with 4 sessions of moderate intensity. I feel like my body is just drained from years of working out when I should have given it more rest. Yet I'm still in the mindset of "You HAVE to work out at least 3x a week and you HAVE to include HIIT somehow because it's HEALTHY". I don't know if I'll ever get out of this.
HI! i am experiencing the same thing! I'm 52 and I've always trained and now I do it every day because I've read that in menopause you have to train with weights and every day….but I'm exhausted and I hate training with weights….my belly has been swollen for years …and I can not deflate it in any way! I would love to have your advice…can I write you an email? thanks ☺️
I used to be a fanatic at working out doing martial arts. For the past three years I've only done walking. I have gained about 10-15 pounds, but recently I quit smoking and vape instead, and I've noticed my flab a little less.
Searching for a way to make myself work out and instead finding this... I take it as a sign. I like walking and I have NO energy because I am pregnant.
My problem is I hate working out because it mentally boring but I have this extra energy and I would love to do competitive sports but at my age and with pandemic it seems impossible
Of course you were tired and that you were heavy feet if you practiced practically every day. No extreme is good. Three times a week is enough for exercises.
Hi Heather....your video appeared in my "recommended for you" column. I have completed six Ironman triathlons, during which I trained for 15-18 hours per week. However, since last November I've transitioned to doing yoga daily, supplemented by about 20 miles a week of running and sporadic weight work and have noticed only positive effects on my body. Plus, no injuries! I'm also vegan, which helps.
Thanks for your message :) Wow triathlons, very impressive! Im glad to hear that you've found what works for you and that you've implemented yoga into your lifestyle. Yay! You have to try some of my yoga flow videos. I feel that men can thrive more on high intensity exercise in the long term than women.
Hi @@sweetlyrawdesserts ! You are obviously quite fit so how often do you practice yoga? I aim for an hour a day and will definitely give your videos a try.
What is better time to workout morning or evenings. Like 7 Am in morning or between 4-8 PM later in day. I am so confused about that as if I do it in morning I become so lethargic and evening I skip it often . What to do.i have BMI of 34 and high blood pressure too. What time would be the best for me ?
Thank you for this message! You are right - The alternate is the wrong message! Any good eating disorder psychiatrist will say exactly what you just said!
So glad I saw this video! Just in time of me going through a mental health crisis 🥲 I wanted to be fit so bad, lean out and get toned and I paid hundreds of dollars on diet plans/personal trainers/workout apps and plans and noticed I wasn't getting any leaner but BULKIER. I was getting so sleepy after my workouts and trainers kept telling me it was normal and part of the process 🙄 I just NEEDED a nap so bad after intense weight training I felt crappy. Now I'm just intuitively eating (takes practice) and of course making better choices and not focusing on counting calories or macros but consuming more protein. I'm also doing light workouts but I don't make it a priority anymore, if I get a workout in great and if not that's okay! Outdoor walks are my fav and get me going. Of course every body is different but this is what has worked for me 💗
There is no reason not to workout. You were probably overtrained and i agree that working out 6-7 times a week can be too much for many people. Other problem could be too low body fat.. this can lead to low energy levels and other symptoms you described. Imo the message for people should be to not over do it and not to completly stop working out
“Let’s be women”, “be active and enjoy it” can’t agree more with your statements! We need to enjoy whatever activities we are doing and have some fats as it’s natural thing for women! 😘
I do belly dancing , just moving around tge house , walk instead of using the car to go to the store . Get yourself a bike , just move and walk as much as you can just add up your steps. I heard that we need to walk 10000 steps aday.you may also try jump ropeing but in low impact . You just move to feel good and to thank your body ❤ also l do drink 2 to 3lt of water and going to the bathroom every half hour really keeps you moving .
Walking is a great way to get healthy! It's great for your body and your mind! Moving in the way that you enjoy is the key! Just move your body 👏🏼 Listen to your body and be gentle with it.
i’m just not meant to be a gym shark lol I hate working out, I like to dance and run and yoga but I find no fun in burpees
me too! I just don't like going to the gym. yoga & pilates, on top of eating well has kept me fairly slim anyways
@@a-terrible-fate532 I understand if it’s not fun for some people though

Thank you so much for for sharing this! Finally, someone having the courage and speaking a truth that needs to be heard. For some even working out 3x a week is exhausting, doesn’t make them any less of a person, weak or unfit, it just is. As you say, walking, yoga, good diet and being happy is a “work out” as well. Three cheers Heather, well done!
Denise Landygo Thank you so much Denise! Yes I think we all need to do what is best for our individual needs 💜🤗
Being happy is the best workout
it makes them weaker physically and that’s a fact
Thank you so so much for this.
I'm sick and tired of all these fitness geeks who try to make me feel bad for not being into a hardcore workout routine, it's simply not for me.
I always thought that there must be another way to be healthy and happy whithout torturing your own body, and here you are, telling me exactly that.
THANK YOU. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I know the majority of people still praises the fitness addicts who show off their shredded muscled up body, but pay little attention to people like you who are showing us more natural ways to do sports.
it’s because a muscled up body takes so much more hard work to get to. Are they better people? No. personality doesn’t depend on fitness level

I've stopped working out for a year because I hated running so much and my body didn't change because I ate healthy.
I didn't find many videos about it, most of the ones I found say "don't look for excuses and do it anyway."
I come from a similar background to you, I worked out 5/6 days a week and that "approved" what I ate.
Stumbled across this only now,
You have literally explained the feeling that happens in the legs so spot on! Seriously I have had this exact issue, when I’ve tried to speak about it in the past with trainers or other therapist I was told that it’s all in my head because naturally I’m a lean small build but it’s so real to feel like you’re carrying “heavy” and inflamed legs around all day 😣
Thankyou for sharing!
Thank you for this video! I literally relate with this soooo much! HIIT EVERYDAY, INFLAMMATION, INSANE HUNGER, INSOMNIA, LIBIDO, ACNE, URTICARIA, ETC.
I'm def suffering from insomnia from these intense training sessions
@@aladynamedSusan take a break for a few days, get some good food, water and sleep! Guarantee you will feel awesome!
@@jonwicktv you overtrained (like the one in the vide), workout 3-4 times a week and it's enough.
I’m so happy I came across this video,
This may be a long comment, but if you happen to see it please read!❤️
I have always been an active person growing up.
Bare in mind shes not saying be a lazy moron shes saying you can do something different and still be active in a DIFFERENT way
I stopped working out and my water retention resolved.
Same omg. I’m a guy and it rarely gets talked about. I was so bloated while exercising 7 days a week. I felt like a pregnant woman 😭
Well said!
@@NessaVibes2024 Yes Yes. Thanks Lady☺️
Omg! Yes preach. I prefer walking to any other exercise that exist.
I also had the same problem with my muscles being all swell and trouble with going upstairs
I will now walk, do some chill runs, and yoga.
I actually feel that getting into yoga could really help with stress.
leah kennedy I’m glad that it was helpful. You might really enjoy doing regular yoga and occasional workouts :)
Being active outdoors is the best lifestyle 💙
I feel like the culture of resistance training is a matter of passion
I admire the hell out of people that can keep track of everything that goes into it, bc in a way sculpting your body is indeed an art
I'm just not one of those people
Working out and exercise are synonymous though. You say you don't workout but you still do yoga and power walking. You are 100% correct about nutrition.
Here's my experience:
I used to go to gym 4-6 times a week and lift weights.
Thank you 🙏
I'm dealing w/ this same exact thing. It started at around 39.5 years old and been dealing with it for 2 years now. Glad I found this video.
Sore not soar
Thank you so much for this video. I used to love exercising as a kid. I'd skate and play sports and move around for fun. It has become a thing of pressure as an adult. Exercise is for weight loss and the male gaze, and I hate it so much! I just want to be able to enjoy moving my body again.
Im a dog owner and spend around 1.5-2h daily walking, to work out on top of that is most days just too much. I think I will try to get more into yoga, as it seems to be a softer approach 🙂
Thank you for sharing, im in the same kind of situation. You helped me
I would love to have your advice…can I write you an email? thanks ☺️
Me too!!! Oh thanks for posting!!!!
I used to be a fanatic at working out doing martial arts. For the past three years I've only done walking. I have gained about 10-15 pounds, but recently I quit smoking and vape instead, and I've noticed my flab a little less.
Thank you. This was very validating.
Searching for a way to make myself work out and instead finding this... I take it as a sign. I like walking and I have NO energy because I am pregnant.
Warm wishes for you and your baby. ♥️♥️♥️
It's good to know your body. When you don't feel good it's time to stop.
Thank you for your sharing so much, so much ❤❤❤
My problem is I hate working out because it mentally boring but I have this extra energy and I would love to do competitive sports but at my age and with pandemic it seems impossible
Of course you were tired and that you were heavy feet if you practiced practically every day. No extreme is good. Three times a week is enough for exercises.
Nalebgd you’re totally right, no extreme is good. Too bad I learned the hard way lol. Sticking to daily yoga and walking is perfect for me now.
Bayou Runner I usually do 30 mins a day but sometimes it’s up to an hour and other times only 20 mins :) Plus my daily walk(s).
@@sweetlyrawdesserts , awesome! Thanks for sharing, and I dare say am leaner and healthier now than when I did triathlons.
@@bayournnr Leaner now?! Oh wow! See?! haha. So interesting eh? :))
I have an illumination thanks to you. Thank you. ♡
Oh I thought this video was saying don’t workout and be healthy. Nah yoga and a good diet is still a good way of staying fit ✊🏾
It was just boring doing those hiit n bootcamp ...and tiring and my body hated it
i’m a 205lb meat head and i approve i also workout and hike because i get stronger and i can run super fast good day
I honestly wish you could get back into working out.
Leg soreness is normal cuz you're breaking muscle so you're body can replace it with stronger muscle fibers
Of course every body is different but this is what has worked for me 💗
I hate the gym. Even just walking for 10 mins on the treadmill. I hate it.
ily
just eat healthy and live actively. that just it.
my girl got a personal problem with gym
I'm not thin or fat but when i start workout within a week i will become thinner like I'm sick. Now i stop
Loved it!
This is an amazing video!
I recommend listening to Firas Zahabi if you enjoy working out, want the maximum benefits, and don't like being exhausted because of it.
I've exercised but no chang,so i give up on working out 😭🥺
Since last year,I don't eat much too
You KNOW my lazy ass approves this message
😂
There is no reason not to workout. You were probably overtrained and i agree that working out 6-7 times a week can be too much for many people. Other problem could be too low body fat.. this can lead to low energy levels and other symptoms you described.
Imo the message for people should be to not over do it and not to completly stop working out
You are so gorgeous, Heather! I couldn't agree more!!!
Thanks Jennifer! Glad to hear that it resonates with you 💗💗💗
Best video ever
I have the same!
You and RedDeltaProject should do a video together
“Let’s be women”, “be active and enjoy it” can’t agree more with your statements! We need to enjoy whatever activities we are doing and have some fats as it’s natural thing for women! 😘
how does this only have 9000 views
I don't workout at all. I have not been walking or doing anything. Can you tell me what I should do to be healthy but not do crazy workouts?
Maybe you can try yoga, stretching or pilates. You can also dance on some music.
You probably have lymphedema or chronic venous insufficieny in the legs. I can't nor want to diagnose but that’s what it sounds like
Good message besides being goofy.
Lol I think this has more to do with genes girl some of us will absolutely balloon if we suddenly stop excercising
This may work until you get older and losing muscle mass as a rapid rate. Skip the yoga and cardio and just lift weights imo. Fat is nice on women
you were clearly overtraining….
I think I want to stop working out. I want to start eating junk and see what happends.
Did it work? It works for me.
Do it ... nothing happens 😃
wtf
This made my head hurt.
