Loved The Dangling Conversation! After an arm injury made the D-28 I had for 50 years too large and unwieldy, I sold it and bought a used mint 00-15M. It is still in the case waiting for me to completely heal. Listening to you play that model has got me really psyched. Thank you!!!
Best thing I ever did was buying a Martin 00-15M. But, I was surprised how great the Gibson sounds, plus all that priceless vibe. Which is better? For me it would come down to playability. Never the less, I would never let my little Martin go. Good demo bro, thank you.
I nearly bought the Martin - but scored a private sale of a Larrivee 00-50MT instead. The modern 00 hog-top guitars sound lovely - but there's an "old vinyl" vibe comes from that Gibson that I love - transports me back to evenings listening to an old Bob Dylan LP - the Freewheelin' Bob Dylan - Blowin' in the Wind - Don't Think Twice ...
I like the idea of using 2 lapels for your demo. Have you tried silk n steel strings on the LG-O ? I would imagine the ladder bracing would resonate a bit more soothingly with silk strings on it.
Interesting video.. I bought a used 0015 in 2008 for a good price, it's been the best guitar I've owned by far, disappointed it had a poorly done refret around 3 years ago and doesn't feel the same to me anymore.. Still love it though, I will never sell it. Thanks for the vid.. Will check out your others
Lg looks and sounds a touch bigger. Its pretty dark and mushy. I love the Martin. It looks more comfortable. It has note seperation, balance. The Martin is warm, crisp and dry, all at once. That particular Gibson sounds muddy and dull. It has no harmonics.
I liked the Martin sound better when you used the flat pick, but the Gibson speaks more eloquently to me as a finger pickin' instrument. My wife has a '64 LG-0 and I much prefer finger picking it over my Martin D-28. My wife would not let me alter her guitar, but if it was mine, I would take it straight to my luthier and have the bracing changed to X bracing with expectation it would lessen the boxiness and sweeten the finger picking output a bit. Honestly, though, if I was guiitarless and had to choose only between these two at about the same price, I'd probably go with the Martin and maybe go back to using fingerpicks like I used to years ago.
Apologies… I’m a year late here, but I would agree with those that preferred the sound of the Martin. My ears heard the Martin having a much more balanced sound. Just my opinion. 👍🏻
The LG-0 has a warmer tone and doesn't sound as sterile. The Martin is a little darker. These are minor as on the lead segment they get close. As-is, the Gibson sounds better to me.
The LG-0 was the cheapest Gibson made during its production run being compared to a middle of the line Martin. The LG-0 was just over $100 when new. The 15M is hardly an entry level guitar.
I got my 63 LG0 new when I was 15. I've had the crappy bridge replaced with Brazilian rosewood and removed the pickguard years ago. Everyone who plays it tries to buy it.
Martin is louder with more overtones; the Gibson has its own character that Martins do not replicate, which is much more suitable for Delta Blues. Keep the chimney Martin for Bluegrass.
I'd be more cautious and show more respect to the vintage Gibson than the new Martin if I were to take one to a campfire. I could go out tomorrow and replace the Martin but any vintage piece-- not so easy. If the Martin were a '59, I'd be more protective of it but only because it would be worth, moneywise, way more than a '59 LG-O.

Mic’ing sounded great. They both have their charms. I have a 69 LG-0 that I find myself going to quite often
The Martin rules on this one!!

I had both over time...but imho the 000-15 Martin is my choice. Thanks for showing Mahogany guitars some love
Great demo video. What song are you playing for the fingerpicking section? Thank you!

To me Martin is better. Thanks for for the video.
That LG-0 is so anemic sounding and a bit boxy still for the age. Martin owns this shootout mate!
I like that sound better. I would define it differently, to me it sounds accurate and just how an accoustic guitar should sound. Talkin bout the LG0
I’d buy a Guild M-20 first and then the Martin 00-15m but I already bought a Taylor ad22e with V bracing which is even better

Great video thx :) Could you tell me the size differences in details?
the difference in scale size is also clear

Can you tell me if there is a similar guitar LG 0 with cutaway?
I had my '59 LG-0 xbraced and it sounds glorious. Also, it sounds like you have some excess string hanging down inside your Gibson :)
Martin wins this time

A hundred bucks was worth about 20 times what it is today. In 1949 is could buy a decent used car.

The Lg0 has a much warmer sound.
