That's so true. Life is more than stereotypes and buzz words. All that does is create division. It's all passed down to us from people who want to control what we do, what we say and how we think.
The funny thing is, a real left winger should love this song, because it's talking about the poor working class and a corrupt state, but they don't care about those things anymore. They just hate and want power.
The idiots I've seen who say this song is racist are all older, white liberals because he mentioned people milking the welfare system. It just goes to show you that they're the true racists considering more of the white population is on welfare. They just assumed he was speaking about black people. It's disgusting. This song speaks to all of us who have to go out and hustle on the daily just to get by in this economy.
The biggest racists on earth are Democrats. They are the one's that vring it up . they are the ones that then never do anything about it. They create this fog to induce votes their way. Facts 101.
Oliver has some great songs. He sings from his heart. This song is about people. It doesn't matter what color you are. If your low-income of middle class, we're all living under the same govt.
Idk where anyone would get "racist" from anything in this song! 🤦 The only controversy I heard of was the line "not just minors on an island somewhere"-- referring to Epstein. This was actually filmed right outside of his trailer. I'm sure he's moved by now! This song made him an overnight celebrity. And yes it IS the poor man's anthem. But it's "Rich men NORTH OF Richmond". Washington DC is north of Richmond, VA 😉
Some tried to pretend he was talking about the Mason-Dixon line, not the rich politicians. But that's only from the race hustlers. Everyone else loved it and knew what he meant.
Thats a country mountain man. He isnt leaving his home. Thats a blind in the video. hes probably got 100's of them around his property. thats a man who worked for what he has.
Radio WV heard about him and went to his home with a microphone and recording equipment. Then posted it! Since then nothing has stopped Oliver Anthony. He is a great singer with a real message! Something the Rich Men North Of Richmond cannot tolerate!
Just don't understand how ANYONE could think this song is racism and meant for someone OTHER THAN the hard working man or woman. This is the WORKING people's song. It has ZERO to do with race. Great review!! Thank you for liking the song!!
I’m so glad you caught that line…….”livin in the new world, with an old soul” So many of us feel that way! This is a song for the people who work hard everyday to provide for themselves and their families. Yet never “get ahead” they are law abiding citizens, not taking advantage of the systems, putting in the work! You hear this young man’s SOUL when he sings this song!
The only people offended by this song are the people who need to be offended by it. It's not racist. If anything it's a song that unites everyone that has ever dealt with this struggle.
Hey Fellas, Thank you for doing this. I discovered OA's Rich Men North Of Richmond about two weeds ago and have been watching a ton of reaction video's ever since and the reaction is the same or close every time. I have seen people from New Zealand, Australia and all over the US and this song cuts across every barrier except socioeconomic ones. If you come from money or you have money you may not like or get this song. The rest of us...yeah we know what OA's saying. This country and every other tries to steer away from class warfare but, that is what we are talking about. Not necessarily violence but, the society we live in believes in winners and losers and the wealthiest among us use their wealth to stack the deck against the rest of us. Its why the schools their kids attend don't look like the schools we attended or our kids attend. It's why the communities where the rich live don't look like the communities where the rest of us live. It's why working class neighborhoods often don't have grocery stores easily reachable for working class families so its much harder to get fresh food rather than processed or fast food. And on and on. Your video and your honest reactions is further evidence of the nerve OA struck here so thanks guys for doing it. Keep it up and I hope that 2025 is a great year for you guys and your families. P.s. If you go north of Richmond, Virginia you hit Washington D.C.. Cheers, Peter St. John Clovis, CA
It both has roots in southern culture because most black people took their southern culture with them when they moved up north. There are even more connections between country, bluegrass, blues and rock, and they also all originated in the south and much of it has brought blacks and whites together, north and south.
His song "Virginia" and "I ain't got a dollar" are good songs of his. Happier than some of his others. He promised God he would get sober and this song made it big. Radio West Virginia goes around the mountains finding talent. It is their microphone out in the woods. His other songs are recorded on his phone!!! He has a way with the lyrics. Loved watcching you two react. Two thoughtful men from different generations. Glad you are out there.
It’s cool to see the age difference here in the reaction, the younger man is more just listening to the song and trying to understand what it means while the older gentleman can feel the lyrics from his experiences in life.
There aint no celebrities over here. This guy lives a few towns over from me. If it wasnt for this video going viral, he'd still be bustin his ass to get by.
Boy, Chris (his real name) has a voice! Oliver Anthony was his grandfather and so he took that as his stage name. The line about coal miners vs underage minors on an island (Epstein) was the controversial line .
RadioWV provided the Mic and setup. They comb the state for music and go to them to record and post them. Washington DC promotes division. I am a new subscriber to your channel and I am a white Gen X. Gen X grew up with a mixture of friends and not based on race. Bring more of this back. Not a racist artist, just spitting facts.
You'll never entirely end racism, but I thought we Gen Xers had put a hell of a dent in that bullshit. I have my own opinions about how things turned around, and it didn't start in 2017 like the MSM likes to say. Regardless, the regression is ridiculous. Of course I notice skin color, but it's just another adjective like tall or fat. I'm a white guy in the deep South. I grew up being friends with whoever. I've never changed that perspective.
We need to get together no matter the race of people its us versus the government its always been that way we need to realize this we all bleed the same at this point the democrats are not for the people been that why for a long time man
A easy game everybody's life I mean I remember working I don't know 60 hours with no overtime pay and rich man always gets the money so you can do the cheap way
This song hits home for all races in the US, this white privilage nonsense is just that. I've worked since I was 14 and am almost 36 and the only thing to my name is my paid off 2005 tahoe thats on it's last leg and live paycheck to paycheck. Can't hardly afford groceries or bills and am left with next to nothing until the next payday.
I think you might have missed the reference to minors. It’s kinda like a play on words “I wish politicians would look out for miners and not just minors on an island somewhere”. Of course referring to Epstein’s island.
Rap talks about things that affect your life??! Like, mumble rap? Modern rap talking about zanies and percs? Or, 90s rap? Big difference. Ain’t no Tupac around.
They always use race when they don’t like what someones talking about. This song unites because all of us are being screwed by our politicians.
It organizes us by class, not by race.
The idiots I've seen who say this song is racist are all older, white liberals because he mentioned people milking the welfare system. It just goes to show you that they're the true racists considering more of the white population is on welfare. They just assumed he was speaking about black people. It's disgusting. North of Richmond is Washington D.C .,,,, The rich men north of Richmond.
He went #1 on the billboards..... not a signed artist but this song went GLOBAL!!!!!!!!! We all feel it.
His soul cried out and touched everyone who has had enough of Washington screwing us
And they are asking for More Here and Now 12/20/2024🤬
"Heard this was racist"--- hurts my brain. Idiocracy movie is now reality
indeed
Twitter in a nutshell.
There is not ONE word in this song that is racist. He is speaking the truth about all of the working people and how we all feel.
Working man's Anthem ...
Oliver has some great songs. He sings from his heart. This song is about people. It doesn't matter what color you are. If your low-income of middle class, we're all living under the same govt.
Idk where anyone would get "racist" from anything in this song! 🤦

Some tried to pretend he was talking about the Mason-Dixon line, not the rich politicians. But that's only from the race hustlers. Everyone else loved it and knew what he meant.
Because they assumed he was conservative which equates to "instant racist". He doesn't like either party, as he's stated many times.
Thats a country mountain man. He isnt leaving his home. Thats a blind in the video. hes probably got 100's of them around his property. thats a man who worked for what he has.
The thing everyone thought was controversial was the Look out for miners & not just minors on an island.
Remember when Americans identified with this song so much it went viral in 2 days???!!! Then they voted in a rich man.
Radio WV heard about him and went to his home with a microphone and recording equipment. Then posted it! Since then nothing has stopped Oliver Anthony. He is a great singer with a real message! Something the Rich Men North Of Richmond cannot tolerate!
That was awesome! Its not about color. Its about the life we are ALL living! God bless you!
Washington D.C is North of Richmond VA.👍👍
Just don't understand how ANYONE could think this song is racism and meant for someone OTHER THAN the hard working man or woman. This is the WORKING people's song. It has ZERO to do with race. Great review!! Thank you for liking the song!!
older bro is reacting because he understands.. other dude just accepts it
I’m so glad you caught that line…….”livin in the new world, with an old soul”
So many of us feel that way!

The only people offended by this song are the people who need to be offended by it. It's not racist. If anything it's a song that unites everyone that has ever dealt with this struggle.
You truly need to hear the rest of his songs. They are all this good.

Workmans Anthem across the world
Real hip hop and real country is absolutely alike. But its hard to get people from the two cultures to realize how close their ties are.
It both has roots in southern culture because most black people took their southern culture with them when they moved up north. There are even more connections between country, bluegrass, blues and rock, and they also all originated in the south and much of it has brought blacks and whites together, north and south.

This is an anthem for everyone. I would betcha the song you were thinking of is "Try That In A Small Town" by Jason Aldine...
It’s cool to see the age difference here in the reaction, the younger man is more just listening to the song and trying to understand what it means while the older gentleman can feel the lyrics from his experiences in life.
Thank you.
The song people said was racist is "Try that in a small town", people didn't like this song because they thought it attacked the obese.
You should check out I've got to get sober and I want to go home
There aint no celebrities over here. This guy lives a few towns over from me. If it wasnt for this video going viral, he'd still be bustin his ass to get by.
Boy, Chris (his real name) has a voice! Oliver Anthony was his grandfather and so he took that as his stage name. The line about coal miners vs underage minors on an island (Epstein) was the controversial line .
Every man's anthem
You have it correct - poor mans anthem ❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
Both Gawne and Dax made a remix of this song, they are really good 🙂
So did Mercules
So glad that you reacted to this "racist" video.
The people that said this was racist didn't listen to it.
He speaking up for the working man.
RadioWV provided the Mic and setup. They comb the state for music and go to them to record and post them. Washington DC promotes division. “Young men are putting themselves six feet in the ground cuz all this damn country does is keep kicking them down”….so true and so sad
Washington DC is north of Richmond!
He even cancelled a show because they were charging people outrageous prices and wouldn't perform unless they were lowered.
Washington DC is the rich men north of Richmond
Dax did a real nice remix of this song deff worth checking out
Check out “I Just Wanna Go Home” by Oliver Anthony…you wanna talk about heartfelt!
If you are doing country...try "Coward of the County" by Kenny Rodgers.
thumbs up
This is everyone’s song unless your a milker of the system
Great reaction video. Earned a sub
I am 2nd gen out of Southern Poverty Law. I know how close this Nation is to rolling back 120 years.
Nobody wants that.... Nobody.
❤
I Love you For You!
Anthem...facts.
You two should do Dave - Black (live at the brits) it was controversial in the uk
The taxed to no end is true. The buying power we have with $1 is equal to $0.23 compared to the dollar pre-federal reserve.
We need to get together no matter the race of people its us versus the government its always been that way we need to realize this we all bleed the same at this point the democrats are not for the people been that why for a long time man
Rich men North of Richmond = Rich politicians in Washington DC

You are truth. Not fake
250 million plays at Spotify....says it all
I was offered 7 million dollars in a contract but turned it down .. he wants to be independent artist and looks like it's working out for him!
North of Richmond Virginia is Washington DC
I didn't see anything racist about this video or song at all. He's just speaking the truth. And politicians in rich folks don't like to hear it.
He's sang those dogs to sleep
This is the closest thing we’ve ever came to racial unification as Americans in the music industry.
there a deer stand behind him
Think you're thinking of "try that in a small town" by...idk lol aldean or something, n just because a shot in from of historical courthouse
👍
Best remix was by Black Pegasus, fellow reactor...n then Chris Webby
And Dax too.
Great reaction fellas. First, I've heard this is racist. But when you're racist you see yourself everywhere. 🤷♂️🖕
Much love, guys. God bless.

No Racism there. We are Americans we all bleed red! #TRUMP2024
Rich men north of Richmond is Washington D.C.
I don’t think it click for these guys that rich men north of richmond means the government politicians in DC, which is 2 hrs south of DC
I don’t feel that it’s racist. I just think he’s feeling his opinion.
..no one survives the men and women North of north richmond. Help RFK JR change that, a man of the people for the people.
I don't understand how it could be racist at all. He's just speaking about the working man getting kicked down.
yeah this is not a racist song at all. I can't believe anyone tried to say that :\
Washington, North of Richmond, government
I'm sorry, ok is well. No madder, how crazy it seems.
I got my sister.
Shame how many people made this about politics and or race rather than what it was about.
Rap. Rytham And Poetry.
There's nothing wrong with the song ,it's the original video that was inflammatory.
Now, from the perspective of two black men, tell me if that song is racist in any way. The people who say it’s a white maga song are absolutely crazy
Richmond Va ain't in the sticks lol
How tf could this even be racial 🤣
Breathing is racist these days
Not even close to racist or anything about racism😂😂😂😂😂
Two more Trump voters. Reality check!
Working class is so fed up. Sorry but Trump. Give him 4 more. If im wrong i will admit it and will repent.
Nothing racist about this song at all
Nothing racist about that..Richman vs the Poor
