After Tabla Nawaz Ustad Zakir Hussain I have not heard this type of sound production on the Tabla Lahara. Absolutely Awesome.

Yes very true. I am previleged to hear and watch Pt. Arvind Kumar Azad live. Also, for the other comment, I have heard Shubhji also live many times. Both are great in their own right. But when it comes to playing at extreme tempo with utmost tonal quality, Pt. Azadji is way above anyone currently. I would suggest you watch him live to experience what I am saying. Again, no competition among any artist, I hate to do it since everyone has some unique feature.

Thanks. I completely agree. But at the same time, he is already a very acclaimed artist in the music world and does accompany all the great like Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Ronu Mujumdar, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pt. Rajendra Gangani, etc. I am blessed that I get to see him and listen to him in Pune with all these greats and his amazing solos. Over and above all, he is extremely grounded as a person and one can make out within five minutes of talking to him how genius he is.

Most of the people are watchig his control over right hand .i.e. speed of treble but his control over base i.e.left hand is faboulous .No other tabla mastreo has that kind of control over bass like the legends of Banaras gharna have.Guruji ko shat shat pranaam.NA Dhin Dhin na the ancient and pure bol of Tritaal i.e.teentaal.Panditji ne dho diya Na Dhin Dhin na se hi.

Yes, you are absolutely right. He is indeed famous for his Baayan. I have heard many live in auditorium and i can tell you the Baayan sound of Guruji is the best. His accompaniment on vocal, instrumental depicts this fully..
