On that very day it was evident to all listeners that a Tabla Maestro was born.....One bayan Ghe Ghe Ghe Ghe was timing and on dayan he was weaving exquisite patterns....after some days every table-player was imitating his style ....even Usd Zakir was seen doing the same.

Kumar Bose ji and Anindo ji are both amazing tabla players. and no, kumar ji is not struggling, that's the way he plays. Even his guru Pt. Kishan Maharaj had simmilar style. Those people here saying Anindo ji is better than Kumar Bose, it's maybe just because you like the farukhabad style over the banaras style. That's possible. Both are very different styles. Saying one of them is better than other is disrespectful to both. Who are we to compare them, when Anindo ji himself says "this is not a competetion. it is improvisation" Both of them and Swapan Chaudhuri and Zakir Hussain are all legendary maestros.
Anindo ji comes from Lucknow Gharana, not Farukhabad. He received only basic training from there and then went to Ustad Afaque Husain Khan sahab of Lucknow
Abhilaksh Verma no. he is from Farukkhabad gharana, disciple of legendary Pt. Gyan Prakash Ghosh. He learnt from Lucknow ustaad from Ustaad Afaque Hussain Khan, and Ajrada kaidas from Ustaads of the gharana.Sorry, I don't remember the names. He has mastered those gharanas.But he is a gandha bandh shagird of Farukkhabad legend Pt. Gyan Prakash Ghosh who was a disciple of Ustaaf Masit Khan-father of the legend ustaad Keramatullah Khan saheb.

Why do people have to criticize so much. People are saying Zakir Hussain is better and don’t get me wrong he an amazing tabla player but every tabla player has their own style of playing and different attitude of play. They are from two completely different Ghana’s with different styles of playing and they are here to display their art and talent to all of us and if people are just going to argue about who’s better, what is the point of the show. So just enjoy the show and enjoy the talent of Both of the Tabla players......
I often visit this just to watch Pt. Kumar Bose improvise and to see the reaction of Pt. Anindo Chattargee at a particular point... 14:29 Though it is a bit disturbing to see Pt. Kumar Bose struggle with the sound system, to improvise real-time, something like he did at 14:29 is quite impressive!
Why not, both are good, but different and there's nothing wrong with that. One person may prefer vanilla icecream and another chocolate icecream, yet both are good, it's all about preferences

I think that each person has his own style of presentation depending on his physical strength and riyaz irrespective of an d addition to talim of Gharana. It's a vast ocean. Both are great. Pt. Kumar Bose is a great composer like his father Pt.Biswanath Bose. Looking Kumar Bose performing from front is mind blowing. We experienced this as I was a student of Guruji Pt. Kumar Bose.
Incidentally I was acompanists on lahara for Shri. Narayan Joshi at Dombiwali concert on 14th August 1969. He was desciple of Ustad Ahamadjan Thirakhawa.

You may have ur own point of view on who is better, but please do ur research more ( it will never going to be finished in this life though) and don't write down ur conclusion here, you will look like a kid from elementary school. The styles are completely different.."Bols are similar in all gharanas, to some extent even the nikaas is similar...but sound production and presentation is different...Khula baaj has a very rich sound texture..whereas farrukkhabad has more of a softer tone with complex kayadas"..It is difficult to produce such sound textures..and perform complex kayadas..
In music u cant say that he is better or he is better,if u have sense of music....u will understand....duet is not a competition...it is an improvisation
Their internal rivalry is visible. The fact is these masters have some prejudices about each other's gharana's. I've watched bith of these master's live interview with Arvind Parikh sahab. In first interview of Anindo where he criticized badly unconsciously about Banaras gharana style by making comment like Banaras people पिट के बजाते है। so, the particular piece in Tabla may not sound good. When Kumar Bose came he replied to Anindo's remark over Banaras style. May be this program happened before my instances. But their rivalry seems to be since old times.
