I'm pleased you were able to give him the send off he'd have wanted for himself, allowing all of those who knew him to join in paying their respects. Not so long ago when my own father passed, numbers were so limited that not even the whole family could attend let alone friends. At least I got to nurse my father, many never got a chance to be beside their loved ones as they passed frightened and alone 😢
Whilst covid has a lot to answer for in those respects, I am kind of glad it happened. During lockdown my dad couldn't get out to play at his usual haunts and so he played live on FB and so I got to watch him again... And now have a recording of him from that time too. So for me, it was a blessing in disguise.
His wife had a stroke a few years back and is now non verbal, so I took over arranging the funeral from Scotland (with my step sister) and it took so long, and then drove down and finally had the service on Feb 29th. So it's actually only just hit me properly today as I've been on overdrive... But yeah I'm coping thanks. He had the best send off, a beautiful service and then a massive get together in the pub he ran music nights in, everyone playing instruments and singing and sharing stories and laughing... Exactly what my old dad would have wanted. Thanks for asking ❤️
