  • The Stanton Sherpa Ti + is Stanton's latest creation. Featuring clearance for 29x3.0 tires, it's a VERY unique and exciting hardtail. As you know, I love the stanton sherpa, and now being able to fit big tires on this new sherpa ti + is exciting. Today we take a first look video to measure geometry, highlight features, and see what it's all about.

    Spiffy frame, cool build. It is impressive that your channel has progressed to the point where a conversation with an international industry benchmark, leads to an experiMENTAL TITANIUM frame unannounced at your front door. Congratulations! I can't wait to see how it rides and I love the geo meter, thanks for the effort once again.

    You mention the Stanton Ti bar, however it is no longer on their website. I've considered looking at the Roosts, mostly for looks (it would look dope with gun metal bits on my Paradox...vanity!!!) as I do not have any hand/arm issues and in fact ride Raceface Atlas 35 bars w/o issues.

    Great first insight. Always a good watch.
    My question is.. Is the hanger not ment to be the part that breaks to protect other components, hence alloy normally..That Ti won't bend or snap, it will mangle something more expensive!, or drag fixings from the frame..Or am I wrong..

    I really liking my Sherpa as it's just so fun & supple. I remember asking Stanton about this when I was getting my frame at end of last year & a steel might eventually come if there is enough interest for it. Would have been cool if the regular steel Sherpa came with rear rack mounts.

    I've been riding for 20+ years and was an early adopter of 29ers. I've owned 40+ bikes and have to say I am not impressed with the 'new geo' bikes for rides longer than a couple hours or rides with more flat terrain. I have a Yeti Arc and a SB140 and feel like these steep seat angles simply pitch you too far forward when riding on flat terrain. I think the pendulum has swung too far, like you said. When I saw these geo numbers of this new Stanton I got excited. Sounds like this will be a great all day bike.
    My bikepacking bike of choice right now is a Salsa Fargo. I'm 5'8" and upsized to a medium Salsa Fargo Ti because I wanted a more traditional geo set (69HT with 100mm fork sagged/73ST) and with the reach where it's at I can run drop bars with 60mm stem or flat bars with 80mm stem. Have you ridden a Fargo in either drop mode or flat bar? It's got clearance for 29x3.0, all the mounts, can be run belt drive, single speed, rohloff, etc. Very versatile.

    • @mellissanash7517
      @mellissanash7517 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the fargo was 69* unsagged.

    • @hardtailparty
      @hardtailparty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is why I spend so much time in my bike consultation service getting to know the rider and what their trails are like. The needs of a bike for flat gravel terrain are completely different than the needs in the Rockies at 10,000 feet on steep rocky singletrack. This is another reason why I don't post "top 5" lists of the best hardtails. It totally depends on how they'll be ridden. Here on Hardtail party we primarily focus on mountain biking more than flatter smooth riding, though a some of my viewers do that too.

    After riding a bunch of single speed I started having knee problems caused by hip immobility a really good PT got me lined out. IT band, calf muscle nerve pain and neuropathy down the lower part of my leg. Clean MRI but a ton of pain. Took about 3-4 months 2-3 PT workouts per week to get it all lined out and now I’m back to 100%. I took on getting my feet strong as well since clipped shoes sort of take foot mobility because they are stiff like you want. Now I’m full on zero drop shoes, with flexible soles except when riding. My balance is better too, way better. Ankles aren’t so week(use to get a bad roll every couple years).
