    One of the phrases we used "if+past(cause), would+verb(effect)" . Another phrase "if+past perfect, would+present perfect" I think the meaning of both structures is same, then what is the main reason of using those structures and what is the difference between them? In which cases should we use them?

    I have a question for you.... is there any street way (native speakers) to use conditionals i mean badly used ,specially 2nd and 3 rd type like... if i would have know i would have done it.....or if i would know i'd do it... could you walk me thru them? thanks!!!

    • @mapleleafesl6162
      @mapleleafesl6162  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a tough question and I'm not exactly sure how to answer it. You're basically asking me if there's a way to make grammar poor. I'll try though. You might say something like: If I hadda known, I woulda done it OR If you hadda given me more time, I coulda helped.

    Great video! How about the following sentence: "Imagine we had just been told that a huge meteor was on its way to Earth. What would be the best thing to do?" If it's a hypothetical situation in the present, then why do we use past perfect in the if clause?

    • @mapleleafesl6162
      @mapleleafesl6162  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you are imagining that someone had told you that (when, in fact, they didn't) in the past. So to represent that idea, you need the past perfect. "If I had been told I only had one week to live, I would eat all of my favourite food." Hope this helps.

    But is there any different between using would and could?

      Yes, but there's not enough spacevin the comments to go over it 🙂

    If the verb is in base form the modal should also be in base form will

      That's not always true. The phrases 'I will go' and 'I would go' are both correct, albeit with different meanings.

    At what time should we use *have*? For example would have, or only would
    Sorry for my English, actually I only speak Spanish but I’m trying to learn English

      We often use 'would have' to express a regret or expressed desire about the past. Watch my video entitled 'Would have Should have Could have'.

    Are second and unreal conditional the same ?

    • @mapleleafesl6162
      @mapleleafesl6162  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Second and third conditional are both unreal conditionals whereas zero and first conditionals are real conditionals.
