Phantasy Star is a great RPG series that needs to make a comeback. It is a good alternative to the usual sword and sorcery RPGs that Square and Enix made back then. It goes hard anime scifi like Star Ocean and the old Xenosaga games. It doesn't have to be 80s-90s anime style, but that would make my day. I'd be happy to have a game with unique characters tied to the game's story. Picking a character class and making your own adventure in PSO is nice and all, but i like the world building and character driven stories in the first 4 games. Same goes for Shining Force. I miss when Shining had so much imagination to it. Now the Shining series is just anime tiddies. lol Back then we had bird people, elves, werewolves, dragons, weird squid dudes, it was so awesome!!!!
Imagine them giving another developer the permission to make a streets of rage 4 because they don’t have plans to do it themselves. And finding out it sold three times faster than any Yakuza games.
It's very nice these games are coming back, but they are relatively low budget products. Games you see with a €20-€40 digital release normally. Of course that doesn't mean they can't be great, it just means that they aren't going all in and won't really stand out in terms of production value. Well, at least for the 3D games. With 2D games you can make an amazing presentation with a small team, but with 3D games that's a lot harder to do.
I wasn't expecting absolutely nothing from Sega. I was a nintendo and playstation kid when i discovered the Dreamcast. Oh boy, it's awesome to see the Dreamcast era games receiving some attention more than a re- release on Steam. I'm a eternal dreamcast widow as they say here in Brazil.
I love Sega’s Zelda clone attempts like Legend of Oasis and Landstalker. I also would love if the Valkyria Chronicles team gets a crack at making a Shining Force game. Also a true Phantasy Star V.
I don't see them doing a new PS game any day soon. They'd probably start with remakes/remasters. Most of these 'new' games in old IP's seem to be remakes/remasters/reboots rather than new entries. SoR looks like a sequel and Shinobi could also be a sequel (but it could also be a reboot), the other 3 games announced so far indicate remaster/remake/reboot. And they also had a financial report and that also seemed to mention that the focus of these classic IP's are on remakes/remasters. So while some may get a new entry in the franchise, the majority of the initial ones likely won't be sequels.
I just hope they dont add western agendas into the remakes for this classics to make em "edgy and rebelious" to catter the modern auddience and alienate their actual fans.
I’m a Sega kid myself. Looking forward to more SEGA news!
Phantasy Star and Skies of Arcadia, please!

I would absolutely love to see a 1-4 collection with spin-offs that has a direct Japanese to English translation for each game
TO THIS DAY you can play PSO! There is an active userbase as of a few years ago, I heard a few mods from the OG days maintain the server.
I promise you if we could get a rerelease of PSO 1-3 that is gonna be insane
This news made 2023 for me. I'm so hyped for this you have no idea!

MORE VIRTUA FIGHTER WOOOOOOOOO!!!
do you realize that we already have a new Phantasy Star Online game and it is my favorite game currently, I play everyday.
I haven't realized because the PSO creators forgot that Europe exists.
"Phantasy Star Online Twitter" is a phrase I never expected to hear.

If any man is capable to bring back dreamcast 2 is this one
WE ALL NEED A NEW POWERFUL GAME CONSOLE BOTH HOME CONSOLE AND HANDHELD CONSOLE FROM SEGA!
What system will all these games will be going to?
probably multiplatform.
They didn't say. Imagine they come out with a trailer for a console.
Love the sounds of all of it… solid timely choices but I’m going to need that alien syndrome pack Utsumi …
C'mon Shining Force. C'mooooon Shining Force.

While he’s at it, might as well give a Dreamcast portable and get the f back into console market
Indie companies have already remade all these games.
Or versions of them.
Phantasy star would be great I think I’m in the minority though when I’d like to see Alex Kidd revisited and worked out a little better
i'm reserving judgment. 3d streets of rage and golden axe don't look very appealing to me, especially after the incredible streets of rage 4
I want Nights

Lets not forget that Microsoft could also be behind financing SEGA.
I will expect big for as it caught my full attention for my dumb money fly completely out of my wallet.
If I'm being honest I thought Sony bought out Sega a long time ago but I guess not good
How will you check me later?
Why would I want to waste my time watching someone else play video games? Thats time I could be playing video games
