Thanks I bought this disc years ago after hearing Zipoli featured on the BBC Radio 3 Early Music Show. The Cordoba (Argentina ) Childrens Choir and soloists are wonderful. This is my favourite piece on the recording.
Thank you for this. I knew of Zipoli for one piece only. This is a real gem and having looked up the singers, they are a group of young men and women, and from the quality of the sound, hugely talented. I genuinely hope you have more from this composer, who sadly like a lot of gifted artists, was taken at a young age, living not much longer than Mozart and Schubert.
I'm not religious at all but this music is perfect in the snowy morning in Montreal. Purifying effect. I read that El Instituto Superior de Educación Artístico Musical "DOMINGO ZIPOLI" is the only Choral Institution in Argentina. Probably in South America? How nice it is that the school bears his name and preserves music from his time. This is unthinkable in North America. I love the painting too.
South America music from 17th/18th Centuries is absolutely wonderful. The European composers who settled there impregnated their music with the local and very colorful sounds... I really love it! Zipoli is probably a good way to realize about it.
There are several institutions who have rescued the music of this time, for instance the Camerata de Caracas, go to their YT channel and enjoy the very fine and extense work of Maestra Isabel Palacios specializing in the early music of the Americas
