Good question! Yes, I'd probably be more free to play the rhythm, playing less notes and emphasizing some voicings.

I think it's important you note that when you play the tune in rhythm, you do much more than just basic Partido Alto groove. There are placed you syncopate the bass by a 16th (for example, in your final play of the tune, you play the whole E7/B chord a 16th early, including the bass). In other places you play these little ghost 16th on the bass just before the main bass on the beat.
I think it would be very valuable if you could break down the little things you do to embellish the groove.
