I have fitted a full 3” stainless exhaust system from Demand Engineering. I went for the sports silencer option & I cannot fault it! Calm and quiet when cruising, but barks when you floor it. I have recently been on a 10 hour round trip (Cornwall to Guildford & back in one day) & no droning noise on the motorway. A noticeable difference on performance, too!
I also replaced the universal linkage joints in the steering Column Together with the parts you replaced and alignment , it solved my LR wobble completely. In my case part numbers NRC7387 and NRC7704
Every time I watch your videos I think of all the jobs I'd like and have to do on our 300Tdi but can't at the moment because of lack of money, it is almost seven years rolling project since we bough her in February 2016, nice to see all your improvements...
Living with a Defender is like being in an abusive relationship I love mine to bits, but the pain it gives me is undefeated!! Still makes me smile every time I drive it. Great videos, been a subscriber since the start Beautiful machine you have Doc, I LOVE the colour & seats 👌
@@odadaj Its a Terrafirma one . On ebay for about £70 ish at the moment . Must have had it on the truck for at least 10 years now and still going strong . Just bear in mind they are less effective the bigger you go with tyres .
Awesome videos.....defender ownership is never dull😁 I fitted an allisport with a smaller centre silencer.....sounds great, but no too deafening for my rear passengers or offensive to those easily offended by loud exhausts🤨
Exhaust wise on my stage2 td5 I've got a decat down pipe (transformed sound and performance and great hardcut sound) ,no center silencer (removed 1st made no difference) and the standard rear box, sounds lovely ,not stupidly loud.
Speak to Demand Engineering regarding their exhausts. Had one recent fitted on my 90, and couldn’t recommend more. I went for the 3” exhaust with the down pipe and sports centre and rear silencer.
Had a straight through exhaust on my 300 Tdi. Obviously louder but sounded good,. However, as you'll be aware, Defenders are n't the quietest of vehicles and that's without adding more noise to the equation. As such, I found it could be a bit wearing on a long drive. Also, the noise level would occasionally draw attention and could be slightly embarrassing. As a consequence, I've just reverted to stock.
I had a straight through on a 200tdi, I liked it but would have preferred to be able to queen it down sometimes. Currently have a very loud v8, and I must be getting old because I'm looking at toning it down too....
Aiming to get our first Defender in the new year 🤞🏻 getting even more inspired and excited watching your channel. Thanks for all the info, learning lots!
had the same wobble, tried all the usual suspects, but in the end it was the NTC9461 Bracket, Panhard to Chassis that was a bit loose - bolts... - you could only feel it with a prey bar, not when there was the weight of the car on it, on the ground or on the bridge..
For the wobble also check the kingpins. I replaced mine with 300tdi since they are bigger and stronger and it now drives like a dream. No wobble even over 70mph and I'm using mud terrain tyres
I had to laugh, every time you put your foot down, you couldn’t suppress your smile, I do the same in my 90, although she is a 300TDi so not the same poke as yours😂. Love the seats as well, I’ve the ‘cheap as chips’ RX8 seats that came with it👍
Mod I’ve just done to mine… R380 gearbox with the 5th gear from the V8 defender. It’s a taller gear which drops the revs and coupled that with a 1.211 ratio transfer box. I’ve dropped the revs by nearly 1000rpm at 70mph.
I have had a new cat bypass exaust system for my TD5 sat in my garage for a couple of years now.. I just hate the idea of having some lairy shouty defender.. so it is just sitting there until I start feeling more anarchic.
I would get rid of the cat and add a straight through pipe may need alive to retweek the engine map tho, could gain an extra few hp out of it, great video
After all of those new suspension parts, do you recommend a wheel alignment or tracking? Seems like a good idea to me. For the exhaust, I like the idea of the switch. Thanks for the video!
I think that you go for a switch on the exhausts it would be better for calmer driving! Another great video though. I would also add an Apple CarPlay screen to your defender as it really modernises the way defenders feel!
You may not have fixed the wobble, but stopped it from reaching the steering column. Balancing, alignment and tyre pressure would be my first items to address. Maybe a Defender has inherent wobbling and the damper is the way to stop it ?
would you say these are defo worth it? as after watching this vid, im really considering getting one as i have the same defender as u and have the same problem.
my 90 is quite loud its got egr delete stage 2 map from empire i did keep a small silencer on it but i wish mine was switched to be honest, how is yours on smoke ?
I used to work at a tyre shop. the wobble in your steering is most likey your wheels are unbalanced. get it to a tyre shop and get the correct weights put on the wheels
You've not got rid of the wobble only disguised it . Landrover steering shouldn't wobble even without a damper . Get the preload on your kingpins checked , I think you'll find you have next to none.

😂 thanks GG Cee- being in an abusive relationship sums up defender ownership well 😂
like owning a Harley Davidson ,spending money fixing everything the factory couldnt be bothered with......................................
I have fitted one of those that self centres the steering ..basically the same thing but with a big spring attached ,,,,is awesome !
which one was it exactly?

Have you got a TD5- does it sound good?
Go for a straight through! TD5s sound really good once you unlock some extra sound!

Thanks Sarah - glad to hear you find my rambles useful! Enjoy the defender!

I fitted the same damper… think they are excellent..
Works really well!
Good job. I’m thinking a Demand 3” for my TD5.
Straight through 3” exhaust all the way sounds awesome

The valved exhaust is good if you have the cash !

You should get a diff cover and full under protection etc
Cheers Max - is a diff cover still useful even if I don’t off road?
@@thedoctorsgarage
No. Mostly poser value! Lol.
How much was the stage 2 remap?
Remap was around £300 and I fitted the big Alive intercooler which was around £500 if I remember right
The off road family have a good wobble checklist on you tube.
Will take a look thanks

I’d have a look at Demand for your exhaust, they will make your exhaust custom to you and your needs
Thanks will take a look
Wow now that's hair goals! Any hair care tips? 😀
I like the colour of your car and would like to put same on my old lady. What colour is it?
Keswick Green LRC799. 👍🏻
Great site.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Oh, nice givaway!
Should be a good one!

love the show.
