In the US it would be every man under 40. So few men dress like a proper gentleman any longer. Now it's faded jeans with a name brand printed on a t-shirt is considered dressed up at fine restaurants and such. 🙄
First class content, Jeremy. You have a very natural presentation style and I just love the fittings and layout of your shop. Three additional tips I have learnt about caring for a suit or jacket: 1. Don't stuff the pockets of a jacket with bulky or heavy items; 2. If using a pocket square, remove it before putting the suit away to stop it from misshaping the breast pocket; 3. Always remove your jacket and hang it up when driving or sitting in a car. A seatbelt will ruin the shape of a jacket (and cause friction wear). Most cars have a hook above the rear window to take a jacket or coat hanger.
Much appreciated info and demo. Additionally, I've been watching your videos because you are just yourself naturally, and not trying to put on a show. Very nicely presented. Thank you. I will watch more. Hello from Southern California.
The Corby trouser press is a revelation! I admit that ironing trousers satisfactorily is a challenge I rarely, if ever, really achieve, so the Corby demands my further investigation!
I love your videos, I think longer videos explaining what suits a man should own (a mixture of styles) or mini wardrobes depending on the job, e.g 5 suits for an office worker who wears a suit daily, 5 outfits for someone who doesn’t wear a suit to work etc to show how they can mix and match a wardrobe
@Zazzri. You may already know this. A good rule regarding business suits is not to wear the same suit day after day. Invest in at least three suits and wear them in rotation. And - if you can, buy two pairs of trousers with each suit. The trousers take all the wear and tear. Stay safe and well
Trousers are often worn more than the jacket so it is often the trousers that wear out first. Tip : when you acquire the suit get two pairs of trousers.
And make sure that you wear them both and rotate them, dry cleaning all together… otherwise you get out your new rescue trouser in three years and it doesn’t match!🤝🥂
Great video, thanks! As for something I would like to see in other videos it could be some classic style tips, how to wear some classic items, some little secrets on how to properly do things, not know to public. Talking about ironing pants with trouser press iron was a brilliant thing - I never knew about this, even while watching a lot of videos and reading really a lot about men style. Already ordered corby for trousers and for ties for myself. Other topics that can be helpful is how to make socks not to come down on you leg, how to fold a handkerchief, and other little things like that
I like to hang suit trousers and smart trousers with the legs draped over the hanger bar in opposing directions, one over the other, so where the inseams meet is directly below the bar. It’s a little fiddly to achieve, and maybe best done on a flat surface such as a bed, but once they are on the hanger they never slip off.
Wool is the only fabric I know that comes perfectly clean when you spit on the stain and then dab it off An alternative is water with almost zero detergent in it
This is great. It’s a completely different world to the way I grew up and live now but the important thing is it’s educational and not delivered in a pompous way. I can’t imagine my old dad telling me how to sit down without creasing me trousers.
@rhodeswood5513. Thank you for your expert advice regarding the care of suits in this video. At 4:28 you showed the (Corby) trouser press. I have always been a bit wary of these devices and here’s why. Some trousers are lined at the front of the leg down to the knee. I have always been concerned that the trouser press would give an unwanted horizontal “line” above the knee! So I have always pressed my trousers by hand, where I can pull any linings back from the front of the leg, press the crease and then let the lining fall back into place. Thank you again for your work on all of your YT videos. Subbed! You and yours stay safe and well.
Thank you for supporting our channel I’ve never been to Kentucky so i could be giving wrong info…. But dress and be comfortable . We wear the clothes…. Not the clothes wearing us 🤝
Thank you for the content, I invested in a good steamer years ago and use it regularly after I wear any of my suits or pants. Works wonders and keeps the garments fresh.
Thanks for explaining how to use a trouser press. I sometimes see them in hotels but never knew what to do and didn't want to risk tramlines. My main problem with suits is that they get a particular musty kind of a smell after a year or so and dry cleaning does not help. Steaming and or hanging outside only makes a slight improvement. In desperation I've started hand washing them in cool water and that works. Any comments?
Wow our alteration tailor used to do just that…. But he was a brilliant presser, as well as a tailor. I find a good blustery day helps. Also empty you wardrobe every now and then , vac it out wash down and polish and add some Lavendar sachets🤝
Thank you so much. How to choose a good dry cleaner? How do you know when a dry cleaner has the right facilities and uses the best processes to take care of your suits?
If you could do a video on the differences between formal wear vs coat and tie. Also the differences between coats, sports jackets and blazers and which occasions are they appropriate.
Always like the idea of a corby trouser press. There are so many models to choose from though. Do you have a preference I am having difficulty selecting one, any advice on what to look for.. prices vary but they look so similar. Thanks..
Go with one that looks at home in your enviroment and has the power output. It’s a long time since I looked, but my last one runs for 15 minutes longer than the previous I had🥂
We’d like to see how you travel with multiple suits! Let’s say you’re going away for a couple week holiday and don’t have the option to hold the suits in a hanger but need to store it in checked luggage. Personally, I’ve been taught to fold my suit jackets inside out. What say you ?
What are your thoughts of hanging trousers straight down? Rather than fold over my trousers, I would use a hanger with clips and would clip the bottoms of the legs and let the trousers hang down in my wardrobe. It obviates the crease fold in knees and straightens out creases due to gravity although I do not know if undue stress is being put on the trousers.
Could you kindly tell us, how to hang jumpers ? Is it better to fold them a special way or put them on a hanger ? Wish to have more wardrobes, love organised clothes and accessories ❤
Would you say that trouser press could accomodate a wide full cut trouser? I usually wear 1930s/1940s clothing that tend to have very wide trousers so that’s why I’m asking. Great tips btw!
What I have done in the past is if it’s a bit creased I hung it in the shower or I have let the steam from the kettle in the dry cleaning bag get the creases out
I have enjoyed your videos. For those of us in warmer climes who may wear a linen suit, or a cotton seersucker, any comments or suggestions? And, out of curiosity, I'd like to hear your opinion about wearing brown shoes and leather accesories with blue suits. I don't know who started that trend, but sometimes I see this and it drives me crazy. As a lad, I was taught that black was the appropriate colour for leather with a blue suit. There were rules for this when I was young. There is a conductor of an orchestra near me who wore oxblood shoes with tails! I cannot tell you much of anything about the concert because all I could do was look at his shoes. Are all of those rules out of the window?
Thank you. I’m a fan of black shoes with navy suits…. The exception being immaculate brown suede shoes. Evening dress black or white tie….. it’s black! ( no brogues!) 🤝🤝🥂
@vfranklindeese2. I am with you (and Mr. Rhodes Wood) on the brown/tan shoes with a blue lounge suit fad. Bring me the Philistine who decided that this combination was/is fashionable! Have you heard the old saying “Don’t wear brown in town”! I believe that the idea was that gentlemen didn’t wear their “country” garments ( brown tweeds etc.) whilst on business in their nearest metropolis. I am also a strong supporter of “quiet socks” (no bright colours, stripes or hooped designs) when wearing a lounge or dress suit. Stay safe and well.
What is the best way to care for a suit if you live in a hot, tropical climate (e.g. Thailand)? If you've worn it a bit, so it is not completely fresh, but not yet at the point at which it needs to be dry-cleaned, is it OK to press it? Or should you only press a suit when it is essentially clean? I just wonder if pressing the suit under those circumstances is sealing bad things into the fabric. Thanks!
That’s a very good question. I’ve never lived in a hot country, so probably not best qualified to answer. However a good brushing to remove surface dust/debris, and press up with a protective cloth on the fabric, such as a linen cloth … should be better that a suit that looks like it needs pressing🤝🤝
I tend to do up the pants before hanging them, should I instead leave the waist open and not buttoned closed when hanging? Trouser press can be as cheap as $10-$20 at thrift stores (Charity Shops in the UK). People have them sitting around and never use them, so off to the donation bin they go.
Could you please discuss proper footwear when wearing a suit? The modern fashion of wearing trainers with a suit is unsettling to some traditionalists.
Yes that’s a tricky area, but should ever really need doing , if it’s been looked after. Never with a sharp crease if you do… they should always have a soft roll🤝
If possible, please address; After how many wears should one dryclean the suits, all other things being equal? Is it okay to press the trousers when these could possibly need cleaning, say after a couple of wears? How does one address the shoe polish staining the bottom line of trousers? Thanks.
It depends how stained or ‘used’ the suits gets… press the trousers after wear with a cloth on top. Brush and buff the polish off shoes… lees is more!…🤝
@kenmylrea9587. There is a brush company based here in the U.K. called Kent. They carry the Royal Warrant so they should be good quality - bristles, wood etc. Might be a bit expensive if you live overseas, but they have a range of clothes brushes.d
It removes dust/lint picked up in daily wear. Wakes up the fabric reviving the colour . Brush them all in your wardrobe especially if not worn for a while and uncovered… you’d way of checking for moths!
Yes you are Absoloutely right ’sponge and press’… however ..steaming a super …lightweight cloth is one we don’t do… can make seams go ‘live’ on lightweights we use a cooler iron
In all honesty, every young man over 16 should be encouraged to subscribe to this channel.

In these days of disposable fashion, it’s great to seem folks who appreciate well cut clothes and understand the importance of looking after them.
