Lyrics (approximately): Well stick out your can Here comes the garbage man Well stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man The little red hen Told the little brown duck Well you sure are ugly But you sure can… dance! Stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man Well I ain’t the plumber Or the plumber’s son But I’ll plug your hole Until the plumber man comes Stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man Up that hill I pushed the cart I pushed so hard You could hear me… sneeze! Stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man My papas in jail My mamas in bed My sister on the corner Hollerin lets go… ahead I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage- Ah stick your can out! (guitar break) Stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man A nickel’s a nickel And a dime’s a dime If you show me yours, well I’ll show you mine Stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man Roses are red And violets aint pluckin’ She’s sweet sixteen And ready for… college Stick out your can Here comes the garbage man I said stick out your can Here comes the garbage man
Thanks for sharing the lyrics to this wonderful song 🎶 especially something that’s pre-British Invasion. It’s a great 👍 little tune 🎶 which makes it a great song 🎵.
Oh wow! I have this song by the HARLEM HAMFATS. They were a manufactured band, much like the Monkees, but in 1936 (when some record exec wanted to cash in on the growing crossover popularity of African American jazz artists like Satchmo and the goodtime blues of the jug band craze). They weren't even from Harlem, but they sounded like they were having a lot of fun and are fun to me. "Stick out your can" was some pretty racy humor for back then but it's just so quaint these days. But this band sounds more like they're trying to copy that jumpin' Louis Jordan, who came along a bit later; not very successfully but I love that they're trying, much like joe jackson would do in the early eighties- th-cam.com/video/4amyN1OgL_8/w-d-xo.html
i was expecting an original version of "Garbage Man" by the Cramps lol, this is still awesome!
Same....
Lyrics inspired by the song "The (New) Call Of The Freaks", Luis Russell & His Orchestra did a great hot rendition for Okeh in 1928.
Lyrics (approximately):
Well stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
Well stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
The little red hen
Told the little brown duck
Well you sure are ugly
But you sure can… dance!
Stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
Well I ain’t the plumber
Or the plumber’s son
But I’ll plug your hole
Until the plumber man comes
Stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
Up that hill
I pushed the cart
I pushed so hard
You could hear me… sneeze!
Stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
My papas in jail
My mamas in bed
My sister on the corner
Hollerin lets go… ahead
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage-
Ah stick your can out!
(guitar break)
Stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
A nickel’s a nickel
And a dime’s a dime
If you show me yours, well
I’ll show you mine
Stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
Roses are red
And violets aint pluckin’
She’s sweet sixteen
And ready for… college
Stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
I said stick out your can
Here comes the garbage man
Baba ree bop baba ree bop
