You got it at last, at least! Just wondering if you had cut, ground, filed, or in some way gotten through the gold coating to expose the base metals if the hcl or sulfuric acids would have worked then. Getting closer to that 2nd ounce! Looking forward to the next video from the Silver Sanctuary!!

Electrolysis in concentrated sodium chloride salt brine would have exposed everything. Then either acid wash would have been able to reach all the impurities.

It turns everything that can possibly react with chlorine into a VERY fine powdered sludge. Especially copper and gold. The byproduct is that the process converts the brine into sodium hypochlorite bleach, from the hydrogen bubbles from the cathode. I use the process to separate the tin in phosphor bronze out so it won't interfere with the gold yeilds later.
