    Well done. However, I wished you had explained this step by step for newbies like me. I'm not familiar with the software but will figure out to use it. This tutorials is more for the intermediate to advance user who is familiar with the software.

    Dude - Thanks for the tutorial, but aaaaaaaa, My fav part is the complete attention drop at 19:12 when you let it cache & it was like you went to bathroom & left your mic on lol. The stretch at 19:50 is as real as it gets and the awesome beltch at 20:16 made my day, not to mention the subsequent double take and failure to finish explaining the point you were making before all the above lol. I love seeing real life, it's like the outakes, but in real time. Kudos :)

    Couldn't you just add in text as the lyrics come in the regular editing window (through edit fx and text or text+?). This is really cool, but it also seems really complicated.

    • @underlinked

      I think so..

    • @risus7754
      @risus7754 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes you can but you have to manually add a fade every time. This has a scrolling animation build in

    • @ErickMcNerney
      @ErickMcNerney ปีที่แล้ว

      @@risus7754 I don't mind with the ability to copy and past. Just gotta adjust length of fade in/out every time you copy/paste to a new lyric section.

      you totally can and if that makes the most sense to you, then go for it. this is a way to use the power of the fusion tab to create this effect. it may seem tedious or complicated to some, but others find this to make more sense and ultimately, this is a way more powerful way of doing it because you can easily change out and edit the backing video and make numerous other changes to the text animation and output that is far less tedious. but really it comes down to personal preference. the process you describe sounds way more frustrating and tedious to me.

    Wow. As a musician with countless lyric videos (most unreleased), this is super interesting. Thank you. Though that first line killed me - 'It's just text over a background video'. Yeah, it is. But a truly good lyric video is art in itself, and this is were I am struggling. But then I am animating word for word, not even line by line, often enough.

    Thanks alot !
    Just uploaded our very first lyric video using this tutorial.
    It's quite fun to play around with how many frames each transition to the next line is.. You can make it be on beat or bring out some musical highlights in the song :)

    Hey, could you do a video on basic editing keybinds to speed up editing? watching you set up the edit, there's clearly some keybindings I could learn.

    • @13TeK11
      @13TeK11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the meantime that you find a video of someone showing their workflow I suggest you customize your keybindings and try to figure out how you like to work :D
      In top left before "File" click on Davinci Resolve->Keyboard Customization or use the shortcut CTRL+ALT+K and you can remap anything you want, you can see the different type of cuts in the Commands windows -> Application -> Edit and from there you can assign all of them (Cut, Ripple Cut, ripple delete, ripple overwrite etc..) to different keys.
      Once you are done, Save and drag 2 clips into a timeline and practice cutting using the new shortcuts :)

    Thanks for this video!
    I did run into an issue at the start though, I'm new to DaVinci, so maybe there was something I could have done otherwise.
    I created my video and made it into a compound clip, then went to fusion and did the lyrics (I believe they were also connected like you showed at the end,) then went back to edit and they weren't showing. THEN I went back to fusion to make sure things were connected correctly just in case, but it was all gone. However back in the edit tab, it had the twinkle on the video to show that it had fusion there.
    I ended up rendering out the video completely, then opening a new project and adding the lyrics to that new video. That way worked out.
    (I have it uploaded on my channel currently. It's the Pompeii by Bastille.)
    I just don't know why the main video, unrendered, didn't want to attach to fusion to start with. Then why did fusion get rid of any work I worked on even if it wasn't attached??
    Is that typical?

    What's the name is this song? Also, I really like this video but it would be awesome if you did another one and showed us had to do more complex ones, complete with animations on each word and so on. Appreciate your time!

    Thanks a lot for the helpful video! I used it to create a lyrics video with a place holder image to make the lyrics appear at the right position of the song playing. Now I'd like to remove the place holder image and instead, insert different new photos at different points in time. Could you or s.o. of the community quickly tell me how to do this? Quick help appreciated, as the video needs to be done by Friday. Cheers!

    Hi. Loving the video. Have followed through to the point where you start to edit the splines for the text. However, I can’t see the options appearing in the dialogue box (it just looks like you click on the text node to make them appear). Have I missed a step? I am only on the free version so not sure whether that makes the difference? Thanks for a great, detailed tutorial! Any help appreciated on getting past this part.

    Great job as always. Your tutorials make Davinci resolve seem really fun to use. I have a question that's not about lyric videos: I'm really struggling to use audio plugins like Waves. I want to upmix the song i'm using from stereo to 5.1. The plugin window is super small. I've looked on a bunch of forums and didn't know who else to ask. Is this is a lost cause for Davinci?
