I had a pristine copy of this album in the 1970's. I transferred the album to reel to reel tape and put the album up as I did with all my albums. I always initialed my albums on the inside cover. While I was in the Army my entire collection was stolen. Fast forward to 1996. I found a copy of the album at a flea market and it was my album! It looked like it had never been played since the first time I played it. The best luck I've ever had!!!
Omg!! The first time i heard this was on reel to reel. I was 12 in 72 and babysitting as I always did of course the sound quality was not as good as this now. Thank you for the memories
This is, perhaps, the most important song in the history of Fleetwood Mac. Had Mick Fleetwood not heard this song at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles while looking for a new studio to record the next Fleetwood Mac album, he may never have heard of Lindsey Buckingham and/or Stevie Nicks, and consequently, may never have asked them both to join the band in 1975 when Bob Welch left suddenly at the end of 1974. Any Fleetwood Mac fan knows the rest is history. Who'd have thought a song that wasn't even a true Fleetwood Mac song would ultimately hold such a place in music history. It's hard to imagine the Rock and Roll landscape without the "White Album," Rumours, Tusk, Tango in the Night, and so on. Thanks Mick...you had the wherewithal to ask Lindsey and Stevie to join you, John and Chris. Can't fathom the music scene for the past 45+ years without contributions from the 5 of you. Well Done!
Minor correction to the correction...it was MR. Lindsey who was initially asked to join, and it was on the condition that MISS Stevie (derivative of Stephanie) was accepted as well. Coincidental that Mystery to Me was released the same year as Buckingham Nicks, 1973, and many critics of the era, as well as many fans, thought Mystery was to have been Fleetwood Mac's breakthrough album. Foreshadowing, perhaps?
jlalewicz Stevie hated Lindsey and gave the band an ultimatum, either him or me. With that kind of hate she never did get over him. He wanted a family and she did not, hence the abortion she had with Don Henley’s child.
Stevie and Lindsey were really great on their own and can you even imagine that Fleetwood Mac would not have wanted Stevie because they already had a female voice? I mean, wow.
I was introduced to Fleetwood Mac via the Bare Trees album at about age 14. Loved the band all through the 70s and 80s. Now I’m retired and have time (and the internet) to explore everything recorded by FM, Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine together and independently. I knew all of them were talented but I’m coming to new realization and appreciation of just how outstanding they all are. RIP Christine and Thank you all.
just think how young they were.. pure genius . when music was everything in life ...no distractions, no social media bs. just sit in a room , be inspired and write.
Same!!! And the only reason I found out about it is because I was watching the backstory on the Silver Springs song and it was mentioned. They played a tiny snippet of this song and my body got tingles all over!!!❤❤❤❤
Those who don't know there was real music before AI resulted in auto-tune and overproduction. Haters gonna hate. The likes far outweigh the paltry dislikes.
I see I commented a year ago. I've probably listened to this song a hundred times since then. Yes, that two part harmony of theirs at the end is simply unprecedented. This has to be my all time favorite song.
I agree we had a good progressive rock station here in Baltimore that played this! It reminds too, of Crack the Sky a dynamic band that never got much air play west because their record company had distribution problem. They remained in this area an still play in and around here since 1975. Have you heard of them?
Beyond the original vinyl release, this album was never officially re-released in any other format, which is why it isn't on any streaming services, and any/all digital versions are "bootleg"
For those who can relate. Nighttime in the early 70’s AM radio was always always an adventure. I lived in Alabama and was able to hear stations in Chicago, Miami, St Lewis etc… Radio stations typically played the same thing but each would play lesser known artists and b-side songs at night. WLS Chicago was the most consistent and clearest I recall. I distinctly remember my finger supporting the small plastic head phone that was plugged into a battery powered transistor radio. This would have been in my elementary school years. Frozen Love was definitely one of those songs that made it worth the draining the battery for. It was just one of those songs that would be out of place heard in the daytime. Then came FM. I’m a little older, headphones gently hug my skull with speaker for BOTH ears. WOW!
Hello Chris, I relate to everything you’ve said. I remember WLS, that whole album is just a masterpiece. Not taking anything at all away from the rest of FM but Stevie and Lindsey really elevated the band IMHO. RIP Christine.🤎 Oh yeah, nice to hear from another very tuned in Alabamian.🎸
Found the vinyl for this in a collection of my grandpas records, had no idea this album existed before. So glad I found it. This is now one of my favorite songs
as great as Fleetwood Mac is, this song holds a special place for me above all others involving Stevie Nicks...it is magical! The interlude in the middle gives me chills each and every time I hear it. It is so good, it should have taken Buckingham Nicks straight to stardom...but I'm glad they combined their talents with FM. It is when I listen to such a beautiful piece of music that I pity those being spoon fed the mainstream tripe being passed off as music today. Don't get me wrong...there is talent still out there...but you will rarely find it in the top 40
If a Fleetwood Mac biopic were to be made, I think this song should play a role in the story. Considering how important this song is in the formation of Fleetwood Mac as we know it.
Mick Fleetwood offered the spot of lead guitarist to Lindsey Buckingham based on hearing this song with Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Buckingham told Fleetwood he'd only accept if Nicks was added to the band as well. That would be a crucial detail to put in a biopic.
I love everything by Stevie and everything by Fleetwood Mac totally , it is my most favorite music of all but this period of Buckingham Nicks I just can't get over how amazingly beautiful it is .... I wish they would sing these songs together live again !

That's simplifying things a bit. Buckingham had a huge impact, for sure, and so did Nicks, but Christine McVie wrote quite a few of the bands best songs. In my opinions the members of the Buckingham/Nicks lineup of Fleetwood Mac were all very important. Listen to John McVie's bass on The Chain! And Mick Fleetwood kept it all together, more or less. If someone held a gun to my head and demanded I give them the name of the most important member of Fleetwood Mac I would disregard the gun and answer: Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie.

How could their record label, Polygram, give up on this incredible duo so fast after just ONE album? Their management company should've fought tooth and nail to keep Buckingham and Nicks on the radio and sign on with another label after they were dumped. They had so much talent and potential and Frozen Love is a 1973 classic song that was better than most of the songs released that year! Thank God, Mick Fleetwood heard their music and asked Lindsey Buckingham, along with Stevie Nicks, to join Fleetwood Mac in December 1974, and the rest is rock history. I hope the idiots at Polygram were crying out loud after Rumours sold 40 Million copies, which was filled with great songs by Buckingham-Nicks.

Was lucky enough to snag a first press vinyl a couple years back from a local shop for $40. As much as I'd love to see it released/remastered digitally, there's just something so special about the sound of it on a record player, yanno? This and Stephanie, my 2 favs 🤙
listen to what they say to each other, heartwrenching stuff - delivered in a way I haven't heard anywhere else so far. Me being 29 I figure there's still a lot to discover.
I think they should release this song back out today.i wonna see what today's would would think .come on Lindsey and Stevie. just let it back out as a test I think it will make it .
If you’re talking about recent eras (90s-current) it’s because they can’t remember the words 😂 When Lindsey had Stevie on as his guest performer in his Boston special Stevie started singing the first two lines but then said “that’s all I can remember” and she’s the one who wrote the majority of the song. LOL
From what I've read, this is the song that Mick Fleetwood heard and decided he wanted to get Lindsey Buckingham into Fleetwood Mac. Of course, Lindsey Buckingham insisted the deal include his girlfriend also joining the band, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Has there ever been a more mythical yet relatively unknown album as Buckingham Nicks? It's legend only grows with time.
Absolutely!❤

Was lucky enough to snag a first press vinyl a couple years back from a local shop for $40. As much as I'd love to see it released/remastered digitally, there's just something so special about the sound of it on a record player, yanno? This and Stephanie, my 2 favs 🤙
The guitar solo reminds me of the solo from "Go Your Own Way".
It also reminds me of the solo from The Chain. So good.
@@twelveightyone Good ear,
I still have that on vinyl. One of my favorite albums.
one of the best...and unknown albums...of all time...period...
Just doesn't get any better than this.
1974 boutwell auditorium i was a freshman in high school excellent experience
This is so beautiful I love it so much
Beautiful. I think these two will go on to great things.
listen to what they say to each other, heartwrenching stuff - delivered in a way I haven't heard anywhere else so far. Me being 29 I figure there's still a lot to discover.
Outstanding quality audio for an outstanding song! 😊😊😊😊
I love Stevie Nicks. Lindsey Buckingham, what a guitar player aswell.
I think they should release this song back out today.i wonna see what today's would would think .come on Lindsey and Stevie. just let it back out as a test I think it will make it .
Why haven’t they ever done this song in concert or re released it with Fleetwood Mac? Great guitar solo and Stevie sounds great! Thanks for the post.
LOL
They also performed it with Fleetwood Mac at a show in 1975, there's audio on TH-cam.
From what I've read, this is the song that Mick Fleetwood heard and decided he wanted to get Lindsey Buckingham into Fleetwood Mac. Of course, Lindsey Buckingham insisted the deal include his girlfriend also joining the band, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Mind blowing
