RIP Buddy.. I have been a Buddy Holly fan my whole life. He died 11 years before I was born. I could only imagine what he could have done if he had lived.
I have been a Buddy Holly fan since I was a child in the late 50's. I don't suppose I have ever got over his death. I have played his music over and over thousands of times. But somehow I missed this track!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankyou Serenadasong for putting this up.
As a kid, I played this one many, many times in the very early '60s. Holly had a way of touching hearts and singing with enormous feeling which few have ever matched. I've never heard this particular version. On the album, this song was followed by "Rock Me My Baby," IIRC. Holly was my very first Stratocaster hero.
Wow, can't believe that I missed these great comments. Thanks to both of you for stopping by and viewing. It's so cool to have those who were around in the Holly era (or just post Holly) commenting!
@XOtericate Wow that is amazing! I wish that I could have made it out to the ballroom on the 50th. anniversary- they had so much there that night- Peter and Gordon, Maria Elena, etc. It was a special evening. It is every year, but that year they really went all out from what I have heard. I enjoy so many different musicians, but Buddy is the king to me:) I know Elvis gets that tag, and Elvis was good no doubt, but I love Buddy the most. Plain and simple.
I always wondered how Buddy felt when the Big Bopper and Ritchie went on the plane with him. And If Tommy never went back to check if they left anything and never did the Coin Toss with Ritchie how was he going to the next concert would he have gone on the Bus with the other bandmates ?
i know this is months later but yes it is Holley when the recording contract was typed out the creator of the contract misspelled the name and dropped the "e". Buddy just kept it that way the rest of his career.
@JiggyMonster98 I absolutely love him as well- one of the greats. I'm sorry if the video made you cry, as I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing for you, but it is a testament to Buddy's legacy and impact. He was and is amazing.
@bertartz1 Thank you very much. I wanted to create a video to honor his passing on February 3rd. I love this song as well, it became a fast favorite for me after listening to it on the "Down the line" CD.
@JiggyMonster98 Yes I have to admit that line....really reminded me of the crash and that is why I put that image there. I do apologize though for the upset!
Sort of, it was actually a mistake on his contract, Buddy (Who;s real name was "Charles Hardin Holley") liked it and decided to keep it, after his death, the family had the name engraved, on his tombstone, in the original spelling
You are correct about the spelling of Holley. Buddy did not change the name... that happened on a contract with a record company when THEY misspelled the . He was ok with it so that's what was used for his career. However, if you visit his grave in the City of Lubbock Cemetery, his monument has his real name Holley. I live in Lubbock and his brother and niece are personal acquaintances of mine. They personally told me what he became Holly during his career.
No, I don't think that it was. I am uncertain exactly what his very last song ever recorded was. But it's probably part of the apartment tapes. Looks like "Learning the game" might be it: edsel.myrmid.com/buddy/buddy.html

Buddy died when I was 15, but I still love his music. Love ya Buddy.
Amazing that you were there at the time, I can only imagine the impact that his passing must have had. Thanks for stopping by!
Sure wish I could go back and warn them
east side I bet we all wanted to do that but it’s to late now
I’d go get them a new bus
If I could go back in time
An American musical icon. He was years ahead of his time and has influenced so many. He is timeless.
A _universal_ music icon. He still means so much to music lovers worldwide!
buddy holly was a rock n roll giant and very amazing of how much he accomplished in so short of time
Love buddy holly been a fan since 1978. When my brother took me to see the buddy holly story. ❤ 👍👍
The film was my first exposure to him as well, and it went forward from there. Nice to get a comment from the King :)

@@Serenadesong I was born 1969 and there haven't been many who have moved me like Buddy Holly. He was too young when he went, like too many of them..
RIP. I love your music and my parents weren't even born when you were alive. But your music will live on!
There is such an innocence in this song. A more innocent time.

This whole recording screams...truth and beauty and soul.

From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
This is a song I discovered not to long ago and it's one of my favorites. The compilation of this video is impressive.

Might be the only C-Am-F-G song he ever did. Heard this a thousand times listening to my brother's Hi-Fi. The next track ... "Tell Me How."
Thank you! I am glad that this was enjoyed:)
Sad but beautiful!
Great song!
Great singer.
you put together a great little video there, i loved it :)
I thought I heard every one of Buddy Holly’s song being his relative. But I never heard this
Wow, amazing that you are related! Thanks for watching. Glad that I could post a song you hadn't heard before.

😭😭👑👏👏👏👏👏
@MsShirleyD The absolute greatest:)
The e was dropped due to a mistake from an employee from Decca records and Buddy decided to keep it-- probably for simplicity reasons.
He was too young

I believe that "Holley" is the correct spelling of his last name and he just dropped the "e".

did anyone notice the gravestone marker read "HOLLEY"
Yes we did, and We all notice you don't know the reason. Sherlock 🕵🏻♂️🤣
his vocal is similar to faron young on this record
Was this....his last song?
