You have just just made my day! I have recently come back to modelling after 30 years. I have a bought a load of life and started a few and going great but ending up with spare parts. I seen your organiser box and realised, I have one of those too not being used!!!!! Your painting skills and dioramas are an inspiration too!
Thank you so much Gattobuono. Now I know that my sketching abilities were not useless for the presentation of this project. First I did not want to show my plannings because I thought they were not interesting enough. Nice.
@@DIORAMUS- Not interesting enough! No, I love the planning stage! Even better would be if you added in some of the reference that you use for inspiration. I'm a texture artist/map/vehicle maker for a mod for the game Battlefield 2, and I spend hours searching for and using reference photos and videos. Most TH-cam diorama makers give the impression that they just sit down and invent all of this stuff out of thin air. Your video felt much more 'complete'. By the way, your figure painting is excellent!
@@Gattobuono I think most AFV modellers don´t know much about composition of a scenery. They concentrate too much on the technical aspects. My goal is to combine the technical issue with the artistical issue of scale modelling. In absence of enough TH-cam income I build most of my works on commission. I hope I can show more independent projects in the future. Thanks again for your nice and inspiring comment.
I can say one thing: Dioramus have a "Saint's Hand". Awesome masterpiece. The history behind this diorama, show to us a scape from the death, the soldiers drama of survive to fight another day. Incredible diorama, excellent techniques, and a great use of natural and recyclable materials. Beautyful diorama! Interesting to see the Verlinden Roadsigns/Russia and cobblestones section in your box of goodies... I remember making them in the 1980s when I was still there... I like to think we had some great stuff that I came up with.... He did not always like my ideas but most of the roadsigns were my idea and I made them... very interesting... thanks for posting...
That is an incredible awesome story. Thanks for sharing this memory with us. My first contact with Verlinden was 1983 but not in a personal way. A friend gave me Verlindens german book publication "Super-Dioramen von Francois Verlinden" from 1981. It is still impressive how Verlinden creates all of his fabulous dioramas without all today available aftermarket kits. Nobody knew at the time what would become of it. Still I´m a big fan and the book is placed since now on my bookshelf. Again, thank you very much and many greetings to you..
@@DIORAMUS- I remember making the first Verlinden way in his modeling room on the first floor of his shop in Lier on Thursday evenings for starters but I can't remember who translated it in German. Must have been Peddinghaus or someone related to him because I remember him stopping by at the shop regularly..
For Info: the german Verlinden Way was published in Germany by Alba Buchverlag, translated by Kurt Harrer. Published in January 1981. Maybe interesting for you.
Magnificent, lost for words……. Just in awe of this masterpiece. Researched a great deal of the Fall Blau campaign this just brings a defining moment in the campaign to life. Stunning a time well spent watching your talents on display.
Hey Wayne, I wish you all the best for your homebuilt. My longterm plan is to immigrate to U.S. someday. I hope I can generate a decent amount of money with my art and this channel. Excellent job my friend! Thanks for posting this information. I have studied the battle extensively and you have surely captured the essence of the struggle. Keep up the great work my friend. Stay safe and take good care of yourself.
Unreal, the attention to detail is ridiculous, so did this win the number 1 spot in that world competition or what ? modeling magazines covering it around the world or what ? cheers.
Hello Netty. This is ordinary fine-pored insulation foam. You can find it in every hardware store in the insulation department or look for providers in the internet.
I ordered the sign from a plates and signs online shop. For example here in Germany it is called "Schildermaxe" . 😔 Shame on me but I am too lazy to fabricate them on my own.
Thanks Bear but nobody would pay for my working time. This Dio took almost 100 hours in the making. How much is it worth for you? No joke. It is for sale. Make me an offer. Sent it to. dioramus@t-online.de
Firstly I live in the USA so shipping would be a nightmare with those sandbags you hid to add weight. Secondly, could you do a smaller version, just the tunnel/sewer exit and 3 figures. It is a beautiful piece of artwork. I might make a 28mm Bolt Action version.
It is not so heavy as you think. I estimate the shipping costs with round about 50 Dollars. I can check it tomorrow if you want. The problem is the safety of the shipment. I have to construct a safe box and this box must be much bigger than the content.
Hello Luka, do you mean the 369. Croatian Infantry regiment? As I was informed the uniforms were quiet similar to the german ones. The only difference was an arm patch wih the croatian insignias. Correct me if I´m wrong. Anyway, many thanks for your suggestion and the rememberance of this men should be preserved. Maybe someday I build a diorama with croatian soldiers but not in the near future. Sorry, but it is in my mind.
