R.I.P. Gary Rossington. I'm glad you survived & were able to help resurrect Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987. Very cool you were still playing in your band until the end in 2023 🙏✌️
The mental trauma of surviving a fatal plane crash. Coping with your own painful physical injuries. Trying to deal with the unimaginable survivor's guilt from knowing your closest friends died. Knowing your career has probably ended. All of it just in the time it took for a plane to fall. That's what he and the other survivors went through. I can't imagine the pain. God bless them and their loved ones.
Life can change in an instant, blink of an eye. Why its so important that you try your very best to have a positive disposition each and every day and to remind yourself just how fragile life is. We all live in our own safe, little worlds and tend to forget sometimes about just how temporary this life is and how quick everything can change. Take care.
2.7 K views and only 86 likes?!?! Tf is that crap. This man is one of the greatest guitarists to ever live. What a tragedy for Lynryd Skynyrd. I wasn't born until 79 but I love their music.
I love seeing younger people give this band their due. I was 17 when the plane crashed, and the news hit me hard. Allen Collins, Ed King, and Steve Gaines were awesome talented guitarist, but for me, Gary was the sound of that band.
Back in the old days they used to cover the mirror in a house where there’s been a death because the soul of the dead person wanders around for three days, and it should not see itself in the mirror-if this happens the mirrors will tarnish and never be clean again, or in days to come the mirror will turn and make a picture of the dead. i found that to be interesting, sad, and spooky when he said he could see their faces in the flowers for like 3 days.
This story is terrifying to listen but Gary rossington was so brave to talk about the horrible moment where his life changed for ever. Rip Gary we'll miss you 😢

God bless Gary Rossington 🙏 I pray he's now resting in eternal peace 🕯 with all his Lynryd Skynyrd Brothers, Ronnie, Allen, Steve, Leon, Billy, Dean & sister Cassie. They must all be having one hell of a jam session up there in Heaven. May they all rest in eternal peace. Fly High Freebirds 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
I was heart broken as a teenager, just after seeing what would be one of my most favorite bands ever. Gary seems like such a nice man. I agree, with his “goofy” comment. I think the lifestyle has taken its toll, ‘oohh that smell’. After watching many interviews and reading a lot I agree again, Gary is lucky to be alive. I wonder what Lynyrd Skynyrd would have been like if they all survived. One said that the band was getting close to going through BIG changes. Ronnie was trying to clean up per Gene. Issues with Management. There were potentially conflicts within. I’m just a fan, who reads and reads between the lines. Gary, please make peace with Arty. Arty, please let go of the memories and make peace. Gary, enjoy your retirement. It’s time……………almost Fifty Years since LS died. You’ve paid tribute long enough. Let the “Free Bird” be free.
Gary is free now. R.I.P. Gary. Hard to believe you are gone. You will never be forgotten. I love you forever and hope to meet you when I get home to Heaven. Thank you for the amazing and iconic music you gave us. I felt your spirit and heard your heart sing in every song. You are a Legend. ✌️🎸🦅😢🙏✝️🕊️🇺🇲💔💔💔💔💕💕💕💕😔
No one has the right to tell a true, legendary musician of Gary's caliber when they should stop doing what they love and live for. Gary knew what to do with his life. Only Gary. How dare you tell him when he had paid tribute long enough. That was something so deep and personal for him and only he knew what he needed to do with his life.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing that great gig in the sky.
Aerosmith's manager could have rented this bucket of bolts days prior to the crash. But he turned it down because he felt it was not in good shape. Skynyrd got a great deal on this flying coffin for hire.
