    I appreciate you posting this video. There are a few things that raised concern though.
    1. The inside of the caliper needs to be spotless, that piston seal should have been removed, everything cleaned and then reassembled.
    2. Never fit the piston seal dry.
    3. You carried on building the caliper up with dirt all over the table- cleanliness is key with open parts of the braking system.
    4. With the slide pins, slide pin guides and the piston housing spring powder coated (with a very thick coat) I'd be surprised if these don't give you a binding issue at some point. I'd have cleaned the holes and both ends of the spring, minimum.
    5. Don't 'walk' the piston in, it needs to go in square with piston pliers or a g clamp or a vice, if you don't have the right tool.
    6. I hope you have new bleed nipples.
    7. That piston housing spring location is not "good enough".
    Not trying to be 'that guy' but if you're posting a video on rebuilding brakes then it needs to be right, so that you, other road users and people watching these videos are safe.

      Hey Matthew thank you for the feedback. I do appreciate you taking the time and letting me know what and where I can improve on and will take note of the points you made. Constructive criticism is something I completely welcome since I am very new to repairing these cars.

    Brake fluid on the O ring first makes it easier
    Brake fluid on piston also take out the bleed nipple the piston will go in easier
    I do not think the Pins (Guide rods) should be painted
    But thanks

      Yes sir, you are correct about the pins not being painted. Thank you for your comment and really appreciate the guidance.

    Never never never powdercoat any parts that must slide against each other There is powder coating on the slider faces, and on the slider pins. That is a great way to have your brakes operate unevenly causing uneven brake pad wear and even brake slider jamming, or pads jamming at an angle causing brake reduction and uneven disk wear..
    Sliding surfaces need ceramic grease and bare metal or teflon sliders on the rear.

    Did you have trouble putting the rear caliper back together? The spring is stronger in the back and hard time sliding those back in. Let me k ow if you have any tips.

      I did my fronts only. They were not too bad

    When you align the piston by 20 degrees does it matter which way from centre you align it?

    do you know if this process will work on a 1988?

    Did the pistons come with your rebuild kit? Where’d you get the kit? Thanks!

      @spencerdog944  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It did not. I got the kit from autoatlanta. Hope this helps you out and thank you for watching.

    Just wondering, how much did it cost to have the powder coating done?

    • @spencerdog944
      @spencerdog944  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both were 225 total. I should not have had him powder coat the clip and the retaining spring as well as the rods...live and learn.

      @@spencerdog944 I have a 951 (86 model) it already has the red fixed four-piston calipers on it, but I recently bought a cheap powder coating gun at a thrift shop and thought I might try to do a little powder coating for other people to make a little money on the side. 225$ seems a bit high to me but that's a good thing for me I guess, lol. need to find an old oven to bake it with. I have been subbed for a while and I look forward to your posts! Good videos I must say. CLear and informative! Keep up the good work!! Thanks for the info!

      @@jackallen6261 I appreciate the kind words. Thank you. I thought it was kind of expensive too which is why I only did the front. Let me know how it goes with your powder coating
