    Good video boys. Been over 2 years since I been to the top of the Avon. Magical place for sure

      We might have to get the mighty Rangers and Hilux out again to push a path through. But it is definitely magical for sure

    Loving the videos, looking forward to get down that way myself later in the year.
    If you had one week to spend in the Vic High Country with someone who has never been before, what would be your top recommendations to visit?

      Thanks bud, glad you're enjoying them.
      Oof, tough question. Depends on the season mostly. The Mansfield hut loop is an excellent way to spend a day and shows off a lot of the iconic huts. Those tracks are seasonally closed however, sadly. Licola is Mecca for 4wders and is where you will find Burgoynes, Barkly River Jeep, Mount Margaret. Seasonal tracks again there though. Dargo is also a good call, which is where you will find some spectacular tracks and camping, and of course is where Billy Goat Bluff, Blue Rag and some other iconic High Country tracks are. I'm sure the people watching this would also have some very good suggestions. But really, absolutely anywhere is awesome

      @@wora4x47 I'm hoping to get down there early October, so most of the seasonal closures should be over by then.

      @@KarlEller No they are not. Seasonal closures lift on the weekend before the Melbourne Cup long weekend. Plus there is the odd one here and there, ie, King Spur which are closed until November 30.

      @@trickster8635 Huh ok, good to know, I thought the winter closures ended October 1st like they do up here in NSW. May have to re-evaluate based on what is open.

    A small point I know, but the Avon area is far removed from the High country, well down below 1000 metres. Actually, the graziers made a point of taking their cattle off the high-country, down to the Low country to winter. One of those low-country destinations was the Avon valley. Just coz it's in the bush and in the hills, does not make it High Country. Very different environments, both for cattle and for tourists.

      BTY, you put too much wheel spin into the unlocked third diff and you WILL blow it up. Been there, done that. Tip, soon as you get into the dirt, lock the centre straight away.

      Really? Well, learn something new every day.

    • @trickster8635
      @trickster8635 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wora4x47 Yep. It's because the cross-shaft and the pinions in the third diff are relatively small and really only meant to allow small, slow amounts of speed difference between front and rear drive shafts, as in small differences in everyday driving, but when you dial in bulk load and excessive speed difference, ie all drive going to the front in a front high climb, you risk the third diff pooping it's pants.
