Book Cover Design: How to design Romance Book Cover in Photoshop

In this video you will learn how to design romance book covers in Photoshop. Follow these simple steps:
PAGE SETUP
Create a canvas of 12" x 8.5" and choose RGB colour mode for an E-book or CYMK colour mode for a paperback.
ADD GUIDES
Use the new guide from the view menu to divide the canvas into three. Enter 5.5" for the first guide, and 6.5" for the second guide, then press ok and you just created spaces for the back cover, the spine, and the front cover.
IMPORT IMAGES
Bring in the images and use them to design the background. Use more than one image and blend them properly with the gradient tools, layer mask, brushes, blending options, ...
Use selection tools such as the lasso tools, subject selection tools, etc, to select part of the imported images and paste them on your design.
Apply any blur of your choice to dim the background. This enhances the appearance of the book cover model image when you place it.
Bring in the model image for the book cover. Adjust the image accordingly.
ADD THE BOOK TITLES
Select the type tool and add the book title. Group the text and name it 'the front cover title'. Manipulate the cover title by changing the font type, size, and colour; adding drop shadow, bevel and emboss and applying the blending options.
Duplicate the group, and name it 'the back cover'. Select each text in this group, and move it to the back cover.
Repeat the same process to create the title for the spine.
FINAL ADJUSTMENTS
Select the topmost layer, then select your choice from the colour lookup. Finally, go to the adjustment layer and use selective colour, curves and colour balance to blend the colours and get that professional look that makes your book cover stand out.
