Couple other things I'd like to add:
-the Carlsson was only available for the UK market
-came with certain Hirsch pieces, such as the spoiler, diffuser, leather dash, etc

The rear spoiler and diffuser on the Carlsson in this video is made by Hirsch performance and not by Saab. Hirsch was factory tuner for Saab, something like Alpina for Bmw. The interesting part is that they used the same front bumper from Turbox for Carlsson and the same titan grey grill trim, but they did not use the front lip.

Erik Carlsson was a really odd guy. Always very earthbound and a pleasant guy. Never really lost his connection to Trollhättan were he came from. He was one of the few contacted driver for the Saab competion section (probably the smallest car marker rally stable).
    Some of his acheivements:
    1955 1st in the Rikspokalen in a Saab 92
    1957 1st in the 1000 Lakes Rally in a Saab 93
1959 1st in the Swedish Rally in a Saab 93

1961 17th in Canadian Winter Rally in a Saab 96
1961 4th in the Monte Carlo Rally in a Saab 95
1961 1st in the Akropolis Rally in a Saab 96
    1962, 1963, 1st in the Monte Carlo Rally in a Saab 96.
1962, 7th in East African Safari Rally in a Saab 96
    1963 2nd in the Liège-Sofia-Liège Rally in a Saab 96
1964 1st in the San Remo Rally (Rally dei Fiori) in a Saab 96 Sport
    1964 2nd in the Liège-Sofia-Liège Rally in a Saab 96
1964 2nd in the East African Safari Rally in a Saab 96
1965 2nd in the BP Australian Rally in a Saab 96 Sport
1965 2nd in the Akropolis Rally in a Saab 96 Sport
    1967 1st in the Czech Rally in a Saab 96 V4

Did you say that only the Carlsson and the Turbo X had eLSD in the 9-3? If so that's incorrect. All 2009 Aero XWD were eLSD cars as well, as well as 2010-2011 Aeros, and 2010-2011 9-3x.-- for US spec cars.

    • @jeppem5008
      @jeppem5008 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Saab Dr at least i Europe, as far as I know, the eLSD was an option on both the 9-3 and 9-3x. The Turbo X and the following 9-3 TX models (with XWD) was the only ones who had it as standard.

I'll stick with my manual Turbo X. Jet Black Metallic is breathtaking, the exhaust tips and rear spoiler look better, and it celebrates Saab innovation (the turbo and XWD) rather than just a Saab rally driver. I definitely wouldn't mind a Carlsson though lol. Turbo X will always be my love lol, along with the 9-7x, as strange as that sounds to some.

Come and see a REAL 9000 or 900 Carlsson, not this run-out desperate-for-money effort from GM before SAAB plummeted from the cliff they built for themselves. The first one I saw was parked up at Abbott Racing, for its second replacement Haldex unit. This was a fairly low mileage car and second warranty replacement claim. I was told the last one was >6K GBP. That didn't endear the thought of owning one to me. As an owner of the 'original' Carlssons, I was less than impressed and still cuss SAAB to this day that they belittled the Carlsson badge for something so mundane and underwhelming. Now, had they made it a twin turbo over-bored 2.8 V6 pushing 350 BHP from the factory - as a Carlsson badge would have merited, then I might have had a different opinion...

I so wish you would do a proper homework before making such videos, because then that's a shame for a community that even a sort of known saab youtuber does not make the facts clear and info is not straight. Moreover if you're member of dozens groups on Facebook to be able to ask and prepare, and also have a Carlsson owner as a fan of your channel.
Carlsson was only made for UK market (therefore all the cars are there and nowhere else), that's where Mr. Erik lived the rest of his life when moved out of Sweden. It was less a SAAB model than a importer made model / modification (fans will know from older days like Enduro, Red Arrow, Wimbledon, etc). It was a fully optioned Aero with added Hirsch stuff to it, inside and out.

@@AutoAutopsy sure we appreciate you being a saab youtuber, young man with a dead car brand and even making videos of it, perfect. But information provided should really be of some value. There are not enough good resources for general public maybe and then those who are mainstream resources for masses, like you become, having wrong info in is kinda sad. Moreover since we know you can Google well and ask community because you don't lack people that know stuff among your fans.
"minor" facts is not really what that was. You mentioning you wanted some to film in person, that probably all are in Europe... It is clear at the time you had no understanding of what that car is. Importer specific only for UK and with full Hirsch optical options, etc. Whole thing would make more sense if the preparation would be just better (or actually right, opposed to this). I am more than 100% sure that people would help you with the content and fact checking (maybe more like facts providing) if you wanted them to. We don't need another resource of misinformation about saabs. There's plenty of them.
