It's good to see a youtuber discuss Gamestop Retro from a non-cynical perspective. If nothing else it provides another option or choice for us as consumers and depending on where people live it might be one of their only local sources for retro games so I don't see how this is a bad thing.
Great for people who were kids that didn't grow up in a wealthy household. Now a lot of those kids are in their 30s and 40s. They can probably now buy any game they always wanted but couldn't have. Can even share old games with their kids.
I love the Castlevania Rondo of Blood music in the introduction. And Streets of Rage 2, and TMNT the video game and Metroid (NES) and Megaman 2 Bubbleman stage. That was phat! (That's a word we used in the 1990s)
Yeah, I've personally been burned too much from gamestop to shop there. Everywhere else has better prices, honestly even with discounts. I'm glad to see you're feeding the void, brother. 😊
Steve, great video. I'm so happy for GameStop doing retro most of the stores in my area or in The boondocks way in the country! I thank you for keeping it positive. People are saying that GameStop is going to fail and I'm like they're already doing it. It will take a couple years for this thing to take off but I wish them well! I used to manage a software Etc and a Funko land, and loved it! Stay up bro!!👍🏻
Your last GameStop Retro video got me out the house to check out one by me. It was a trash selection so far BUT I got Burnout 3 Takedown and it was cool to get an OG Xbox game CIB from GameStop in 2024. Appreciate the tips!
I just picked up both KOTOR’s and baldurs gate dark alliance! Huge nostalgia for me and it was very affordable. I’m excited to see the future of this retro thing at GameStop
Good video and information! One thing I don't notice or really see, that I see in other retrogame stores, how do they test the retro games? The carts, the disks? How do they check retro controllers? Are they cleaning the games and the systems? I would think they are, I just happen to see this take place at a few other places.
@@MrWrightWay No problem here. I try to be on my A game when it comes to them. I just be mad when I order something that's hard to find then like 3 days after it should be in the mail they email me and say they're refunding me. Knowing they ain't had it. 😂 Lots of companies do that. If they're sitting on 200,000 orders that are to be refunded, that's 2 weeks that a few million sat in their holdings gaining interest then when they refund them all, they keep that interest gained. And companies also bury financial losses that way.
I'm in the minority here but I'm glad gamestop is doing retro again they should've never stopped... at the end of the day they are a gaming store... im abt to check which gamestops have what and if I don't have it then it coming with me... I wanna start a small collection for n64 games too since I never had that console
I'm going to the same GameStops since 2005, I always find something. GameStop have a retro games in the store is fantastic. For me I don't really like buying stuff online too much, I like going to a store and pick up something and walk out with it
I have gotten so many calls at the Gamestop I work at in Wisconsin about the Retro games. It's exciting. We haven't gotten anything crazy yet, but I'm hoping like you said that the distribution warehouse in Texas starts sending us a bunch of great stuff
I have a local GameStop in town and they’re not a designated retro location but they have their own retro section, I’ve been finding some good stuff there lately. With my pro points, monthly $5 coupon, military discount and trades…..I do amazing every visit, I’m not as big into collecting as others though as I’m just getting certain titles that I love or know I’d replay 🤷🏼♂️ Nice vid Steve! I’m still behind on your others lol
First I would like to thank you for this info.I found some cheap games from several different gamestops here in new york! second I would like to say I remember seeing you in Baltimore Flea Market while I was buying all those Call of duty xbox 360 games in that flea market with the long weird name. Glad to see your success young brother!! I would have never stopped inside a stopgame with out your video. for that I subscribe now
My local GameStop will actually refer people to the local retro shops in my area when someone’s looking for retro games which I think is really cool. We do have one “retro” GameStop location in my area but it doesn’t have much stock yet. Might check it out again in a few months to see if they have more stuff by then.
With GameStop Retro happening and opening stores across the U.S., please GameStop Retro, I really hope you sell a variety of CIB physical copies of old school classic retro video game titles on N64, GameCube, Wii, GB/GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP!! Please, GameStop, make this happen (like what you used to do back then before 2012), that way, it will be a good thing!! I'm definitely planning on going to these stores so I can embrace and relive the nostalgia!! 🎮🕹👾🤘🤟✌😌😊🤗😄😎👍🤙☯✨❤💛💯
Im glad there is hope for this Retro side of Game Stop...because I went to my local spot and was pretty disappointed. Infact, I laughed at myself for even going there instead of just going to my local retro game stores who have real inventory. Because of your vid, I may go back and check to see my local Game Stop is stocking inventory on retro games in how they are doing in a few months. I will say tho, the inventory they did have...I thought their stock was fairly priced.
Earlier this year (well bwfore the rollout of the "Retro" branded stores), I got Wet, Wanted & Stranglehold PS3 for $4.99 each, CIB. Obviously, they bumped up the price on each. Wet went up the most, by far. Also, keep your eyes open for NBA 2K23. I got the Jordan Championship Edition on PS5 (no slipcover) for $6.99.
I wonder if GameStop are training their employees to check to make sure the carts they take for trade are not counterfeit. As someone that collects SNES and NES games, tons of people try to sell counterfeit games and I sure hope that GameStop is making sure their games they take for trade and sell are not counterfeit. Might be something worth looking into.
If folks dont want ti ask for games behind a counter just ask for a list. When i wanted ti fill some of my missi g games i would ask for a list of ps3 or xbox 360 games. If its like 2 pages its usually not a problem plus it helps to have in hand when others come.
New viewer of your channel! Love the retro talk content and hopeful for some more content in the future! If I may say, if you could turn down the background jingle just a tad! Couple of spots where it plays over your voice
If GameStop keeps up with these prices, they will force the price gouging greedy resellers on the internet to lower their prices too!!! 🔥🔥🔥🙏🏽 It’s funny how people want games based on how much it’s “so called worth” these days.. 😅. We purchased games to play them back in my day!!!
Pro membership is only good when you combine it with other deals. But when you do the math you're not really getting that much in return. You pay them $25 just for them to give you $60 in return for a discount. So all they really did was give you $35. The way they do their point system is trash. $1 only gets you 100 points. But you need to to accumulate a thousand points just to get a dollar off. As I mentioned before the pro membership can help and combine with some of their deals like the four for $40 they had going on last month. And then of course you're able to add pile up with your military discount. If you're not buying cheap stuff where is the discount at honestly? Plus you usually don't get more than 10% extra. I could trade in guilty gear strive and get $8 store credit but I could get $11 in store credit with the pro membership. But usually games like that are a few and far in between where you'll see at least a $3 difference in the store credit.
Found your channel recently and love it bro! but the audio from your mic primarily comes out of my left earphone besides that love the vids man! just trying to help and see ya grow
It doesn’t matter much to me since they only seem to be doing this at 4 or 5 of their premium locations none of which are close to me. This should be a company wide initiative or it’s not gonna work, GameXchange will still the goto with their massive inventory wall to wall games. I just don’t see GameStop doing that, it definitely ain’t happening at the Terrell & Forney locations which are the 2 closest to me.
@MrWrightWay It's what one of the employees told me, and I've yet to find a Limited Run Game in my local GameStops. Might just be California or certain stores. But it might be different in other areas or he was lying. I'm not sure.
I see your point when you say that gamestop will generally sell at market value and it also helps people get games when you trade them in. I mean its normalized now, but I still dont agree with it.
