  • We've driven it, we've dyno'd it, now it's time to test it. So we knock out the last few projects to get it ready, and see what it weighs, is it a pig, or do we have a ripper on our hands?

    Your vet is a Win for the self taught mechanics wrenching in two car garages all over. Crazy to see how far you have progressed man . Driving, fab work, general knowledge. And your confidence and personality have all had a major glow up 🤝

I'm sure you have great projects going on , or at least super inspirational stuff. Thats what its all about. To capture the spirit, the fun, that Taylor is sharing . WE DON"T WANT NO EV CARS !!!! So funny with us running all the different fuels and even main stream TV shows and movies. Fast and Furious and Street Outlaws. Ha ha , Stuff your EV. Plenty of petrol !

      I also just got a work trip booked near the FF the same time as KK round 4 and I'm pumped to meet T Ray if possible.

    *Pro-Tip* If you want to paint while it's raining, change your mindset - Use a old used entertainment cabinet and install a cheap "oven hood vent" on the top of it, plumb the exhaust outside (hood vents have filters that are usually cleanable with mineral spirits since it's a metal mesh). The way I have mine set up I made front shutters for the front, multiple closet bars across to hold handing parts, and I can paint things up to the size of a 4cyl engine in it, and it's out of my work space or areas that can mess the paint up, like sap, pollen, or just garbage in the air. Enjoy Taylor!

  • @SavouryLobster
    @SavouryLobster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Taylor, skateboarder here. I know you've already applied the griptape but usually when you apply it you run the shaft of a screwdriver along the edges to sort of "roll" it over the sides, then you cut off the excess. It gives it a bit more coverage and helps it stay stuck.

    • @JLandonM
      @JLandonM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s is just so when your board lands upside down it doesn’t pull the edge up the grip tape up, and more so to just give you a cut line, not really needed here lol

    You should make an excel sheet for the gear ratios and print it off. You can just make everything change off of one cell, which would be your quick change ratio.
    I also think you want the boost controller on by default. I'd think you want to be able to jump in the car and go. Switches for stuff that needs turned on every time is the enemy. You might be in a rush or forget. Think about cleetus with ruby and the "turn on intercooler pump" stickers everywhere, and he still forgot.

  • @randr10

    Just watched the couple videos before this one when you first test drove it and then the dyno session. I could just feel the tension you had. I've had projects like this that take a super long time and you're just so on edge when you finally take it out and test run it. You looked super pissed on that first test drive and I was like, man I've been there. Glad you were able to chill back out after the successful dyno session and get back into yourself finishing this thing off. It's going to be one gnarly tire shredding machine and your work inside and out is absolutely beautiful. I can't even imagine driving something that light with that much horsepower and being sideways the whole time.

    If the front hood is carbon fibre and rear trunk is stock with lexan windows you should be close to 50/50 weight distribution, roof will help lighten over all weight.

    Hey, If you want cardboard with similar rigidity as cereal boxes but on a big roll, get “ram board”. It’s used in construction to protect flooring materials. A roll would last you forever. Never need to source CAD materials. you could make a wall mount to hold the roll and just pull out what you need as you go. Just an idea. Cheers.

    This build is simply amazing! Cant wait to see this thing go sideways. My suggestion: cut a clean hole through the center console area of the dash (clean up the edges and mount a small c shaped gasket around on the cut. Then mount a plate BEHIND where the hole is, and move all your switches and controls there. Would keep your dash being quickly removable, and move all the buttons out of an odd position that is currently down/away from your view (and potentially being accidentally pushed while driving).w

    The best way i found to get LED lights to stick is to buy a window plastic kit its so that u can plastic ur inside windows in the winter to block out the cold air. But anyway it comes with a role of super thin an clear 2 sided tape that is sticky as hell. So i stick one side to the lights after u pull the tape strip off the lights. Then install them

    Hey Taylor, i just noticed but you have your engine bay fan on the driver side pointing straight at the hole in your door so any fumes or gasses is going to be blown inside the car. it might just be a result of the body panels not being installed or just something small and unnoticed, but as it seems like it could be hazardous just wanted to point it out.

    You should look at LUX lighting systems for lights. They are rock lights, but I think they would work well in this application too for the engine bay and cabin. Have them as rock lights and also in the bed of my truck and under the hood.

    Take a look at kc hilites cyclone lights. They’re bright af and I think they make red lenses which would be ideal in the cab so your eyes don’t get washed with blue light from the cheap leds and will let you keep better night vision.

    Taylor, have you taken a look at under cabinet lighting? a lot of them come with diffuser strips that you can screw into wood [or metal]. Might help with externally mounted LEDs [like by the firewall or "trunk"]

    Love this build, personally I would have all the buttons/controls on the dashboard to keep the trans tunnel clean.

      When you're strapped in tight it's next to impossible to reach the dashboard in most competition cars.

      @@adematthewsracing the dash is not far away from the E-brake , and reaching for the E-brake doesnt require a straight arm, dont see any problems reaching for the dash.
      But I get that its easier and smoother when they are mounted on the tunnel, doesnt look that clean though.

    The fact that the boost control switch goes to 11... Nigel Tufnel: That's 1 more than 10 innIt! Overall this build has become an 11 Taylor & Josue, good job! For anywhere you use double sided sticky tape use 91% rubbing alcohol to clean surfaces and an Adhesive Promotion Pen, although heat will be a factor as to how well the led side from the factory holds up it'll stick much better, the zip ties R a good idea for safety tho. Cool that the car is going to be close to sub 3k with you in it, (1k-hp @ that weight is gonna be rowdy!) you could weld up a couple of bar weight post's with varying hole's for a cotter-pin keeper in the rear to add/take away regular bar weights to tweek the F/R bias if needed.

    Throw a coat or 2 or matte clear on the dash. That way the reflection of the Florida sun doesn’t blind you while you’re driving

    I am very impressed with the curb weight. I thought it would be 31xx because performance parts are generally heavy

    Man 2700 lbs. That's impressive and a lot lighter than I would've expected. That's the benefit to fiberglass I suppose. She's coming along beautifully. I wouldn't spend thousands on carbon fiber just to shave 100 lbs but that's just me.
