Grace Kelly was a very famous American actress , most notably in the 1950's ..
Welcome back, Rory! Although their voices are very different, Mika definately seems to take inspiration from Freddies playful and theatrical vocal style. The really high pitch is more a Roger thing, but Mika's falsetto sounds more like Justin Hawkins', so you were spot on with the Darkness. Fun fact; Roger's son Rufus Taylor is the drummer for the Darkness.
Better than I thought it would be after hearing your intro !! Quite a catchy little number
It was a delight watching you experience this. Subscribing.
His references are Queen, Prince, Elton John and the opera, in France he is really very well known, he wrote this to say you want me to be a real man and well I'm going to be Grace Kelly ( Iconic actress for Hitchcock then Princess of Monaco)
Glad to see you back on reactions!
Only know a few MIKA songs, not fully my style of music but they’re good fun
Grace Kelly left the entertainment business to become a princess but after that people said she always looked kinda depressed. So she most likely sacrificed what she loved (acting) and ended up regretting it for the rest of her life. From the lyrics I'm guessing the record Mika worked for was trying to get him to do more popular sounding music at the time or do other stuff so this song is how he felt.
If you haven't heard of Caleb Hyles he did a great cover of this but he has many other awesome covers, I'd recommend checking him out and since they are covers there's probably less problem with YT.
The chorus is vaguely familiar from a few yrs ago. Spot on with pointing
out the ELO influence (along with the Freddie-esque vocal flavor)
