      @@amberleary8705 Rockwool does not have a link with cancer, you may be thinking of asbestos (which is a horrible material). The rockwool fibres are bad, yes, but this is only an issue during construction, and can be solved by wearing protective gear. Once it's in the walls it's fine.

Fun as hell too :P Hard work though, cutting this stuff sucks, when it gets into your skin it looks like razor burn almost, like whitehead pimples as it works its way back out of your skin. Plus its a pain to get the dust/cuttings off your skin, if you try to wash it the water just beads off and if you try to rub it off with a cloth it just forces it into your skin. The only way I got it off was with an air hose and light bursts otherwise it would just force it into your skin like the other ways :P Made you arms look like you had the worst and nastiest rash ever.

    What type of insulation is flammable? The one that's responsible for the many house fires in Australia?

    • @smitajky
      @smitajky 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The aluminium foil insulation uses bitumen materials to separate the two thin foil layers. The bitumen is flammable. But many house fires are started by non flammable insulation. You put it in the cieling and cover wires or downlights with it. Now the heat cannot escape so they heat to such a temperature that a fire starts. DON'T cover wires with insulation.

    r value, how does it work? 1 is very good 5 is substandard?

    • @robertglover44
      @robertglover44 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      R value measures the effectiveness of the insulation. R-13 is the lowest, ranging up to values of R-15 and R-30. You can use R-30 for attic insulation, since heat rises to and escapes from the top of the structure.

      +Robert Glover thank you Robert for the detailed answer. and what are the numbers? the thickness of the mat? or maybe the denseness of the material? or any other meaning or indication?

      @robertglover44 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about the exact demensions. Here's a link to Roxul's website www.roxul.com/ They have all of the product details. The mat's are approximately 2 x 6 x 1.5 meters in packaging.
