  • WHY AREN'T PEOPLE HAPPY FOR ME? 2 REASONS WHY
If this is a question you have ever asked yourself, know that there are many reasons why people in your life aren't happy for you. This can be a family member, close friend or even a partner or spouse.
Early in our child development we need validation and acceptance from our caregivers to help us to develop a healthy sense of self and a strong identity.
But sometimes we are born into situations where the main people who were "suppose" to be happy for you aren't and it can leave you feeling unworthy, devastated and defeated. I hope this video gives you insight on how to overcome those feelings and not to internalize other people's perception of you.

Key takeaway: Find your group who will support you and cheer you on...who will keep you accountable but don't view you as competition!

I won't lie, I feel like I have NO ONE in my corner but God. I'm getting all these major opportunities coming into my life and it's as if no one is happy at all and if they say they are, it feels like a lie. Ppl have disappointed me and harmed me all my life and it makes me feel this huge void inside...just empty.

Do your best for you, you can’t change people. It’s them with the problem not you. It hurts I know but find healthy outlets and positive hobbies to keep your mental health

this is so sad. i'm human and i am not perfect, there were times when i was jealous or envious of my friends but i've NEVER let that influence me in a way that I'd show it to my friends after they share their success with me. so heartbreaking, when you are happy or getting better and have no one that wants to celebrate that with you.

As an entrepreneur building 2 brands, I’ve had to come to terms with not receiving support from the people I believe should be the first ones giving it. *I’ve just resolved to (like you said) seek out like minded people who understand we can ALL build while helping one another.* Great video!

I noticed when my life was in a bad situation “friend” always ringing me blah blah. The minute my life is better she discourages and now distance herself from me especially now I don’t tell my business like used to and my life is in a better place

When I lost a lot of weight and graduated with my degree, a lot of people from my family started spreading rumors about me saying I did drugs to lose weight and they said I was lying about my degreee. I just stay away from jealous people. I can see it written all over their faces. It's a gross human trait to have and it's kind of scary to think that people want to take what you have through such deceitful means.

You stated everything I just feel, I have abandonment and trust issues and had a semi big accomplishment happen where people I thought would be happy for me were not, and I was very hurt

in my early 20s, when I dated around, heartbreak after heartbreak; failure after failure, my sibling was always there to listen and comfort me.
At 26, I entered a long distance relationship (2 years). It’s my first long term, committed relationship where marriage is the goal.
Now I sense tension and passive aggressiveness from this same sibling. My bf came down to my city to meet my parents (he was only here for like 2 days) and they loved him. My sibling was angry about not meeting him and my parents loving him (keep in mind she’s married).
Now I decided to move to his city and move in with him, I also will be starting a new job. She interrogated me with “are you sure” “have you thought about…(a bunch of negatives and cons)” and then said “just bc you start a new job doesn’t mean it’ll be a better one.”
W h a t . . . . Where was all this care when I was dating guys that was clearly horrible for me? Now I’m in a good relationship and there’s an issue?

Thank you so much for your videos! I'm going to be going back to college (summer 2021 semester) to become a social worker/therapist!! I haven't been to college in 20 years & am currently on Disability for mental health, so it's a BIG step for me! My parents are Scientologists so they don't believe in mental health issues, and they think that all therapy, psychology, and psychiatry is the downfall of society, and they are... pretty extreme, so they think Social Workers are going to bring down America. =| Right now, they don't know I'm going to be going back to school, much less my major. They don't even know that I've been on disability for years, or that I'm very far left of how I was raised! I'm not looking forward to telling them, but this video put some things in perspective. Especially about people thinking that you're "leaving them". But yeah. I hate being almost 40 and feeling like I still need to walk on eggshells around my folks. O_O Anyway! Thanks for the videos! Subbed!

This video actually helped me because I’m about to become published. So I thank you for this. Honestly for me, the term “staying strong,” sometimes feels like a scam because I’d rather pour out my feelings and say what I feel and why I’m hurt the way that I am. I think yes, people do get jealous or in fear (not in a good way) when people see you do well for yourself. honestly, I don’t know why jealousy is even a thing in the first place. I somehow feel sorry for those people. I mean….
#1. If you didn’t work for it, don’t get upset because you saw them put in the effort while you sat and did nothing.
#2. Jealousy/boastfulness to me, is a terrible sickness and it’s not something to be proud of, either. When people look at your success, there’s gonna be people who aren’t gonna think: “Wow she worked hard.” the reality is that, those types of people could be the way that they are because they feel farther behind now that they see all of your hard work coming to elevation. I may have repeated this entire video LOL 😂 but that’s pretty much what I’ve gotten out of it.
This video was definitely for me today and I came across this. So thanks!!💖💕💖

I don’t even have a college degree or career & I have lived a blessed life & still some people say that I’ve had it easy. Like wow - I’ve been through hard times & many good times. I think it’s real expectations you have for yourself in the 1st place & if you have achieved those expectations that makes a person happy. Funny thing - those very same unhappy people never make changes or better choices for themselves through out life.

A very good video Manicka thanks so much for sharing, I appreciate this so much. I've used the I don't care thing before, even now in my adult life to a certain degree as a buffer to not over think or stress myself especially at work where it can be very hectic and where it's predominantly white. What ways can I substitute this I don't care attitude while working in a all white environment? Because I find I worry less about how they think of me and how I do my work and their validation when I say I don't care. @manicka thomas

    • @ManickaThomas
      @ManickaThomas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think your level of self awareness around what I don't care means to you is important. I don't care in that regard, could come from a place of confidence and not needing anyone to validate you or your existence. I think as long as you are honest with yourself on assessing that you are not in need of validation from White people and are not looking for their approval of you is the healthiest position to take when interacting with them.

Caring being what the Stoics would call a “preferred indifferent”…Obviously it’s preferred to be loved, liked, and celebrated. But, the truth is, all the aforementioned, including reputation, are largely out of our control. I could be sitting under a tree reading a nice book and someone could get mad at that. “TF you sitting under that tree for” 🤣🤣
