I have always been a CCM fanboy but gave Bauer a try last season because I felt they were innovative and wanted to compare. Sold those within a few months and replaced with Hzrdus 7x4 pads, blocker, and a 9x4 catcher. For reasons you stated about the fastglide, I opted for the 7x4 leg pad with weave sliding surface and couldn't be happier. Pad strapping took some time to figure out and I will add that the FRS straps on the price point leg pads are not meant for people with thick calves, or for anyone who likes to wear their pads loose.
The blocker palm took a few skates to loosen up enough that my hand wasnt being held open.
The 590 catcher is incredible. I love the 600 break but found myself using it as a blocking surface, where as the 590 feels like a proper catcher...for me anyhow.
I know, different model equipment, but like myself, others may gravitate to your review.
    Cheers!

Really appreciate the review. Grew up playing in net but haven't played goalie in 12 years. Been coaching my daughter the last 6 years and was really missing playing goal. Wanted to get back in cheap in case the body couldn't hang (Yay 40s). Just bought these pads for $428 on clearance plus the 25% off clearance discount at purehockey And got the blocker super cheap as well. Nice to know what I need to do to make these feel better than they came and I'll be watching more of your stuff too as I get back into it. Cheers.

I got a sewing machine coming, and found the same 2 inch elastic. I’m going to make my own longer straps but I may consider making them for others as well - I needed a couple more inches on my px4’s also.

Seen the same problem with the "fast glide" on the 9X3 unfortunatly.

Agreed. I’ve gotten used to it but it is still worse than other pads I’ve used.
I also have a set of 9x3 pads.

Get the eflex 6.9 there a lot cheaper and they only weight 3.1 pounds and the 7x3s weigh 6.2 pounds

I’m a big fan of the True strapping on my 20.2. I recently picked up a set of Eflex 6 with a tight leg channel that fits like a true pad.

CCM's speedskin has the same issue as the Fast Slide garbage. I had to add the same film to my knee wings to get them to slide. I think the boot is a lot thicker than the Trues and definitely more than the Bauer Vapors I came out of. I've found I have issues with the pad not rotating, no matter how loose/tight I make the strapping and toe ties. About the only think I like about them is the knee landing. I has CCM Eflex 1 through 3s and these feel nothing like those pads. I'm pretty much done with them.

So, I ordered a custom set of true pads. Waited the 6 months. Got the fast slide and same thing. Until the ice is really chewed up you STICK to the ice. What did you use on the knee block to help slide? Where can I get some? Also. I think my tree trunk legs have the same issue as you were having. I have them as loose as possible and still have rotation issues and for some reason… these are the only pads I have ever had this issue in,.. but I get bad rug burn on my knees. About 40-45 minutes into my game I have to really force myself to drop cuz my knees are on FIRE idk what these pads do to cause this but I have had Bauer, warrior, ccm, and my last set before the trues were Brian optiks and never once have had this issue. I’m hoping maybe loosening them up with this method may help? I’m not sure

3M PPF film as stated in the video and labeled in the description; you can find it on Amazon. Then, loosen the straps.

Do you think the all black 7X3 would slide better since it's standard jenpro instead of the fastglide material?

I used it one time, felt the protection wasn’t there for me and decided not to review it. Plus with my hand surgeries and it not being a 580… just didn’t really even want to review it.
