Boot straps are necessary to create that stopping point. And since you're only using it for that these days, you can wear it pretty loose. They're easy to sew in also.
Just what I like. As a somewhat older goalie, I need less strain on my ankles/knees/hips. That being said, I’ve tried some of the bungee toe ties and didn’t like them either. I like that the Kova is somewhat of a middle ground between skate lace and full bungee.
Hello, nice review, as you own Vaughn pads, how would you compare the slide with true (jenpro) and the quick slide material of Vaughn. And also the sizing, is a 33+2 true equal a 33+2 of Vaughn….could you provide your ATK….regard’s
My ATK is 17.5 If we are talking both stock pads, I’d say True Catalyst and Vaughn V10 run about the same. Vaughn’s Quickslide material is the best sliding material I’ve come across. As far as True goes, their weave material is the best sliding, followed by jenpro, and I feel like their fast glide material is the worst, or more accurately, the most inconsistent. It’s very dependent on ice conditions.
@@raycroft29 I gotta use these some more before I really form an opinion. In general though, I’d say it would probably just come down to personal preference as far as what type of pad you like.
I was always a Vaughn guy with many versions of the Velocity. Went to the Gnetik 3 for a few years and now in using Hyperlite. Based on your reviews, I think we have a similar want in a pad so I'd be very interested in your opinion, once you use these more. I appreciate your help and feedback!

Why Kova over skate laces for the toe tie?

Great review. How loose or tight do you wear the straps for the FRS system? Thanks!
I don’t crank it down, but I’d say “moderately tight” as that really is the main connection point of the pad to your leg.
Thanks for the info. I was debating between these pads and the Brian's Gnetik V. Which one would you choose between the two? Thanks in advance!
