Do all the prep work yourselves.... Get your own permit, dig your own hole, remove your own dirt, Purchase your own high quality salt water kit and plumbing. The only parts I would hire out are the electrical, the install of the shell, and definitely the concrete. Fences are friggin easy! Running plumbing is not exactly hard. Installing rails, and diving boards and slides aren't difficult either. What you are paying for hear is big hourly labor, and a pretty good markup on the actual pieces and parts of the pool. The biggest thing your paying for is the install time. (Probably quite remarkable). Thing is, if you can do a lot of researching on all your pieces and parts, do your u-tube watching, (a lot)! I feel confident that what I've mentioned above can be done by the average, steady person. Don't expect the pool in a month, (maybe two)! Probably save on average, say 15 to 20k on a 16×34. Near, and or above $65,000 seems ridiculous to me. I live in Illinois. Level ground, and easy access to water, gas, & electric. I'm 51 years old and in good health. I'm not giving out that much $$ for a completed, fiberglass, drop-in pool! Nope! Have a good one y'all!
Free Spirit Transport! I thought we were going to hire you for sales!? LOL. You're right! For the ultimate DIY'er (like you) a fiberglass pool can be a viable project with the right planning and resources. Reality is, most homeowners do NOT have a skill set or the time...or either...to take on a project like this, and they'd prefer to hire it out. Much like building a home 😉
In 2017 this guy isn't far off. Fast forward to 2022 and we just finished a 16x40 Barrier Reef fiberglass pool in the Midwest with a heat/cool pump, salt water system, safety cover, slide, & 11ft concrete deck all the way around. By the time install was complete, irrigation and landscaping repaired we are in this for just over 150K. Just like buying a car folks. You can get a Corvette for 100K or a Lambo for 250K and both are of comparable speeds. Just depends on your style and taste. Best way to do a pool is with a new build. You will save THOUSANDS!!!. 30K of our expense was for necessary landscaping afterwards (sod, grading, relocating irrigation, & a retaining wall). Just to break some of the other approximate costs down for you......Automatic Safety Cover: 15K, Electric: 7K, Heat/Cool Pump: 6K, Concrete: 25K, Slide: 5K. And there are a lot of additional expenses that can begin to add up, especially if it's not new construction. Want to guess how much they charge to crane a 5k pound pool shell over a 2 story walk out without crushing your driveway :) Tip: Get your bid and automatically add 30% to save yourself a headache over the course of the project. And to all those folks saying you can get into a decent in ground pool for 25K is like saying you can get into a decent sports car for 25K. Just not going to happen if you want anything worth having. And for those of you shocked by price, that's just the basics plus a slide. Sky is the limit here folks!!!
I just got a quote for a 14x30 laguna fiberglass pool turn key plus with a heat pump / chiller , 3 deck jets, and about an extra 200sf of concrete decking for $53,500 this was on 7-21-2020 with a 9 month waiting list. After I got that quote I Checked their website 3 days later and they have increased their prices by $2000 on all their pool specials this is in Georgetown Tx near Austin.
I just this week got two quotes for a 15x32 fiberglass pool install, one was $47,900 the other $57,000. No way was i spending that much for a pool! I then got a quote from another local company for a 18x36 .027mil liner pool with everything included at $27,000. We will have new liner pool in 3 weeks!
Hi Gatorman! First, thanks for watching. Second, congrats on a new pool coming your way! The reason we got into the pool business is because we thoroughly enjoy seeing folks get excited about a new pool.
Great question...it sounds like a solid plan in theory. The reality is that the bottom of the hole will need to be modified to fit the specs of the pool you're installing. Most likely this will require the same amount of excavator work (time wise) as digging from scratch. The benefit in this case is that you will not have as much dirt to deal with after the project is complete. Thanks for watching!
Sad fact is you add a pool to a home and only get a little less then 10% of that added to the value of the home when you want to sell it. This would be worth it if the home your in is a forever type home.
For everyone saying those prices are too high go get some quotes. You’ll soon realize he’s on point.I can’t afford to do it either but at least I know it’s out of range right now. Seems like everything is so exorbitant anymore,I don’t know how we’re going to make it with the insane inflation
Facts are our shells are most often more expensive. WIth good reason. We simply do not compromise when it comes to materials or build quality. We build the best product we can with the highest grade materials available. As for the shell itself, there is quite a bit of expense that goes into it before it even arrives at the home, then time, materials and equipment to install it (correctly), and fill with water. On top of it all, it is our livelihood, and we all have families so there has to be some money that's made. Proud to have these opportunities.
@@RiverPools LOL "some" money that's made. Looks like there is a lot more than some money being made. 10k for just a shell, well I know what I'm not getting.
@@RiverPools package it however you want, it's still highway robbery. You can get a quality fiberglass pool installed with a pump and filtration for about 10-15 k less than your bottom price.
So let's say I already had the hole ready for a medium pool; how much do you estimate would be the total price of the pool, installation and salt water pump thereafter?
Hi Chase! We didn't say the concrete would cost that much alone...we gave a range, so folks know about where the total project cost will land...now, you know as well as we know that there are MANY variables that affect the final price of the project...and those items vary from job to job. Thus we provided a range in price for three different scenarios. 👍 If you're buying based on price alone, it sounds like we helped you make the decision you're most comfortable with.
Lots of companies out there price their packages differently. As long as you ask for the details, you'll know everything you need to know to price compare properly 👍
Noted. Thank Kevin. We're working on expanding our dealer base, so hopefully we'll be able to serve Texas relatively soon. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend.
Well, sounds like an atypical project. If you're happy and the installer was happy, then it sounds like a WIN WIN! Enjoy your first full pool season! Nothing better than relaxing in your backyard!
All you people on here complaining the prices are to high have no idea wtf your talking about. Its ok that you can't afford it but don't bash river pools for explaining what the real prices are. Its not as simple as you think. Here is a list to help you all understand costs 1. 15k to 30k for pool shell is the real price because you have to pay $2500 to $4500 to have it shipped. 2. Excavation is not cheap, you have to pay for an excavator and operator. Also a skid loader and operator to move the dirt. 3. You have to pay $65 to $100 an hour to a dump truck company to haul out all your dirt as well as have a place to take it. 4. Each fiberglass pool will need between 60 and 100 ton of stone to set pool on and back fill with will cost you a couple grand 5. then you have around 8k in pool equipment "pump, filter, heater, led lights and salt system" 6. you have to hire an electrician to wire up all equipment 7. have to hire a plumber to run gas line on gas heater 8. you have plumbing supplies to plumb entire pool 9. permit and inspection costs 10. you have to pay a Crain operator 3k to crane the pool into the hole 11. you have to pay $1000 to bring in a water truck to fill pool 12. you have to pay the labor costs to your builder 13. couple grand for winter safety cover or 15k for auto cover Add all this up and your 55k to 80k and we haven't even gotten to yard restoration, patio or fence. So river pools is giving you pricing on the lower side. How do I know this I'm an owner of a pool company and installer.
how much to put in a fiberglass 18x40 pool if i buy all materials, dig the hole and put in all the filtration / plumbing hook ups not including the cost of the pool? thanks
Got a final quote this week on mid-sized fiberglass D28 with heater, set-fill, salt water, winter cover, and coping (no concrete or patio) for $100k, crazy.

@@ronniemack7400 how big of a fiberglass pool? Which manufacturer? What type of finishes? How much deck? Any accessories? Fencing, grading, retaining wall? First fill of water? All these people crying they can't afford it.... No kidding. A pool is a luxury...... not everyone has a new truck, new house, or well... a pool. Now if you'll excuse me, Im off to take a swim in my backyard.
Hi Sharee Carter. Thanks for watching! In response to your comment, we will openly say we are not the lowest price pool company. In fact, we are most often the highest priced installation company in Virginia. And the pool shells we manufacture (our own River Pools brand) is often priced higher than our competitors. Our prices fall in line with the end product we deliver...a worry free pool made with materials of the highest quality grade and installed with the most advanced installation practices. We manufacture and install the River Pools Way. Check out our methods here 👉th-cam.com/play/PLX8aOaXkDykS8TJTwy6rF472Q8OVPRfRA.html
First off the shell does not cost anywhere near that price for production "some one is making a fortune on that mark up". Second id like to know after you factor the machine rental cost for the digging portion of this project how can you justify the additional 20k + for a weeks worth of labor for a basic build? Im in the wrong business!
Hi Thomas Murphy! Actually, the cost of materials and labor to create the shell are quite expensive. And we recognize our shell prices are probably higher than other manufacturers, however we are choosing to use the highest grade raw materials possible to build the best fiberglass pool we can. Thanks for watching.
We know! Right!? A company would actually tell you how much a pool project can cost so you know what to expect???? All jokes aside, we do want to be open about the costs for installing a swimming pool so folks understand and can make an educated decision...even in the cases where they decide to not buy one of our pools.
Hi Cheryl D! Fiberglass pools are not cheap. We won't dance around that notion. But we'd rather be open and honest about the topic of price. Thanks for watching!
Really????? 3 "way's" We're not cheap, but we're no where near that expensive. Listen, if you get a bid for way way way less than what we're talking here, then 1. that pool builder hasn't been or isn't going to be in business for long. OR 2. Your bid includes a vastly inferior product....when researching pool projects and costs, you have to focus on A LOT more than just the price. 😉
Compared to what? We're okay with comments like this, but it's even more helpful to folks if you provide some more substance to the claim you're making👍
You guys are definitely online with price. Were going with San Juan pools in wv and for a 15x32 is about $45,000. Adding all the extras like slide, diving board, salt water system, heater, concrete, 4 ft. retaining wall and taking down 15 trees is $76,000. People don't realize how much work goes into one. The way I see it id rather have this than any expensive new vehicle and will enjoy it for years to come. Hopefully in this case you get what you pay for which is a quality pool.
Hey Ivan Padin, We understand the conflict between concrete and fiberglass when it comes to cost; however, be sure to consider the lifetime maintenance, surface smoothness, and speed of installation in comparison to concrete as fiberglass wins out in these categories. Thanks for watching.

@@RiverPools for a fiberglass pool with installation unless its crazy big
@@ronniemack7400 how big of a fiberglass pool? Which manufacturer? What type of finishes? How much deck? Any accessories? Fencing, grading, retaining wall? First fill of water? All of these things add up for homeowners and it ends up being a surprise by the time the whole project is complete...so we discuss all aspects of a job when we discuss pricing. Not knocking ya...just explaining why we state these prices. Where do you install? How many do you do a year?
All these people crying they can't afford it.... No kidding. A pool is a luxury...... not everyone has a new truck, new house, or well... a pool. Now if you'll excuse me, Im off to take a swim in my backyard.
That was some cringey shit.
a dirt and debris swim? Tell the truth, you live in a cardboard box behind someone else's nice backyard and pool?
His quoting is over priced
River Pools sooo, is your fiberglass of higher quality than other fiberglass?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am in Sacramento area and have been looking at pool prices. The quotes are right in line with what I have received
Crazy
We know! Right!? A company would actually tell you how much a pool project can cost so you know what to expect???? All jokes aside, we do want to be open about the costs for installing a swimming pool so folks understand and can make an educated decision...even in the cases where they decide to not buy one of our pools.
$40,000 just to install it, what a rip off!!! No thanks!
You are expensive
Hi Cheryl D! Fiberglass pools are not cheap. We won't dance around that notion. But we'd rather be open and honest about the topic of price. Thanks for watching!
Hahaha this guy haha
he is way way way over pricing everything
Why would anyone buy a fiberglass pool at that price. You can get an ingound pool for the same price.
he is talking about a fiberglass inground pool. but his prices do not reflect the savings of an inground fiberglass, more like a custom concrete pool.
Lol.
rip off
Compared to what? We're okay with comments like this, but it's even more helpful to folks if you provide some more substance to the claim you're making👍
You guys are definitely online with price. Were going with San Juan pools in wv and for a 15x32 is about $45,000. Adding all the extras like slide, diving board, salt water system, heater, concrete, 4 ft. retaining wall and taking down 15 trees is $76,000. People don't realize how much work goes into one. The way I see it id rather have this than any expensive new vehicle and will enjoy it for years to come. Hopefully in this case you get what you pay for which is a quality pool.
Too expensive ...I go better with concrete...is almost the same then
Hey Ivan Padin,
We understand the conflict between concrete and fiberglass when it comes to cost; however, be sure to consider the lifetime maintenance, surface smoothness, and speed of installation in comparison to concrete as fiberglass wins out in these categories. Thanks for watching.
Rip off!
Hi ERIC NILLA! How is telling potential clients about pricing, and what effects the pricing, while being completely open about it a rip off? If clients have questions, we will answer them, openly and honestly. 👍 Thanks for watching.
