    Thank you Norma for taking the time to share all that info. I was looking for this kind of info even though I own a pool for many years, DYI, and never had anybody with this kind of information to compare notes with. I would like to share a couple of tips.
    1. Using chlorine tablets will add cyanuric acid (Chl stabilizer) to your water which makes chlorine demand go up as well. You can only get rid of it by dumping the water.
    2. Using your vfm pump full speed increases the pressure in your filter, which is a waste of energy. Think of putting your thumb on the end of a hose. What you want is through put not pressure. Reducing the RPM by half will reduce the power consumption by 8 and more efficient through put.
    3.Home depot and Do It Y center sell acid for about the same price. except HD is 13% concentrate and DIY center is 39% concentration.
    4. For everyone else who does not have a auto water replenishing system. I used my sprinkler programmer and a sprinkler valve, set as needed. (about 30-35 gal/day.)
    5. Before I had my pool resurfaced I tried saltwater chlorinating system: very temperamental and expensive. then I used Borax at about 50lbs /16,000 gal. Also need acid to keep the ph level. It really makes the water sparkle, it works as a algae stat, slowing algae growth considerably and it is so easy on the eyes to swim in. Still need the usual chlorination.
    6. make sure your vfm pump is out of he weather. Electronics and water don't mix well and replacing that pump is costly.

    Hi Norma could you do a winter pool maintenance routine. I recently purchased a home in Dallas and it came with a pool. Do you close down your pool or do you leave it open all year long?

    Thank you Norma for this pool update. I followed your pool journey, and appreciate all your tips. I am wondering if installing a pool will increase your property taxes?

    Hi. How often do you have to shock your pool?

    • @normavargass
      @normavargass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I shock it after heavy use( after party/friends or family where over) during summer almost every 1-2weeks. It’s been so hot it was eating the chlorine tabs pretty quickly. Hope this helps! 😊
