    In this video, I lay out the reasons why Boba Fett actually is a badass, and I do it while only referencing the original Star Wars trilogy. (Video reuploaded due to low audio issue)

    My personal head canon for why Boba caught on to Han's trick is that he's seen it before. It could be that he remembered when he was with his father and how they both thought Obi Wan had died in Geonosis' asteroid belt, and maybe the whole Asteroid belt chase in the Hoth/Bespin system reminded him of that, or he could have seen it been pulled off at any other time in his bounty hunting career.

      The video tells the truth partially. The design was supposed to be for a super commando, they planned to make at least 100 of them but were budget-restrained. So George said, don't discard the prototype, paint it and make it one of the bounty hunters. I guess they eventually realized that from all of the bounty hunters he was the one who looked the part as the guy who finds the falcon.

    About the no disintegrations part: It's actually both. He knows what Boba's capable of AND also has a bad experience with Boba disintegrating people. In canon, Boba once took out 3 rebel spies As Vader requested, but he disintegrated them, and because there weren't any bodies (because of the disintegration), Vader refused to pay him. So technically they both failed each other: Boba failed Vader by not being able to show him the dead bodies, and Vader failed Boba by not paying him. I know that this video is strictly based on the films and I used a canon book As a reference for this, but I think It's interesting. Other than that, great video, It's not my first time revisiting it and it definitely won't be the last!

    Greatest Star Wars video ever. I get that not everyone wants to think as far into a character with so little screentime, but I wish people would maybe look a bit deeper and understand Boba before calling him overhyped/overrated.
    What's also worth noting is that Boba has been in the bounty hunting business since he was like middle school age. He's a direct clone of the former greatest known bounty hunter, who we've seen execute Jedi on screen. I get that Boba's "demise" in RoTJ is silly, but look at Obi-wan and Vader's duel in ANH. A far cry from what happened on Mustafar. Just a result of the time the movies were made in, from my perspective.

    Can I point out that Vader might have left Boba off with just a stern warning, even if he did botch up a mission?
    Boba had beskar armor, actual Mandalorian training, and mandalorian gear. Vader attempting to execute him might have been an embarrassing mis-step, since his response to being force-choked would likely be "Barbecue the space wizard" instead of "must get air."
    An execution turning into an all-out fight he barely wins wouldn't be a good look for Vader.

    • @WhereinMedia
      @WhereinMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Whatever Vader's internal reasoning, it serves to underline the level of threat Boba poses. The idea that Vader, Darth friggin VADER, might not want to start a fight with Boba further underlines just how much of a badass Boba is without a word being said or an action overtly shown.

    7:10 My own head-cannon is that Boba didn't know the Falcon was there. He was just using the same trash stream to hide his own exit from the Avenger, since, being a bounty hunter of some note, he's learned to take some precautions and not just jump out of a docking bay and head off blindly.

      A fair point, but if Boba had a reputation for disintegrating people it still wouldn't make sense for Vader to bring him in on a job that absolutely HAD to be live capture. Either way, it just goes to show the confidence Vader had in his skills to bring him on board regardless.

    You can read Boba in a different way than "Vader respects him for some reason." Given what little we know of him from ESB and RotJ, Boba might well be there by direct request of Jabba the Hutt, who we know from all three films wants Han over some sort of debt. Vader wants Luke and the Falcon itself, Hutt wants Han, and Vader isn't known for caring about collateral damage. If I were Hutt (thank God I'm not), I'd have wanted a proxy there to make sure Han isn't obliterated. Vader placating Fett on any front makes more sense if you account that Space Brando is the one Fett's actually working for.

    12 minutes of in depth story analysis to justify the fact that the only reason he was ever cool was because of a pre release toy and a sick armor design.
    Come on guys let’s be real. If in the first John Wick movie all we heard was how badass he was without seeing it ourselves we wouldn’t have bought into the mythos and legend surrounding the character. For a character to really scream badass they gotta show and tell.
    From what’s shown, he’s a very capable bounty hunter but by no means is he some untouchable legend. Evident by his hilarious and disrespectful death (yes he died in the Sarlacc pit regardless of what Legends or Disney wants to tell you). All I’m saying is fans act like he’s the John Wick of Star Wars but there was never anything shown in the original trilogy to suggest that.
