    How are you liking your Lomax cover on your Tacoma in 2020? Still thinking it is the best one? Also, have you removed the cover to make full use of the bed occasionally? Is that easy?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually sold my truck so don’t have it anymore but I did use the cover until the end. I still like it. I don’t remove it a lot but when I do, it’s pretty straight forward.

    Did you have to buy new side rail covers for truck bed? My tacoma side rail covers have cut out sections from the previous bed cover.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, my truck was new so nothing was cutout from it.

    I just got my Lomax for my Toyota Tundra (without deck rails). In my box is a weather strip, but the instructions have no mention of the weather strip, and every other Lomax install video I have seen does not use a weather strip. Is the weather strip only needed because of the deck rails you have?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I won't be able to tell you, I don't have a Tundra. You may want to contact the manufacturer for a clear answer.

      @dalephillips8250 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Blake Jones Did you ever find an answer to this? I have a Tundra and will not get rid of the rails so I'd like to know.

    My truck bed does not need to be waterproof, I just want a cover to keep things out of sight. I also don't want to drill into the metal frame or bed. Can this be installed without the gasket, or will it then shake around too much?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a question to double check with the manufacturer. I’m sure you CAN install it without the gasket but I’m not sure why anyone would without it considering the benefits and ease of install.

    How secure would you consider the cover? Love the look but my biggest worry is someone breaking in.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  ปีที่แล้ว

      No cover is secure if someone really wants to get in. It's a deterrence and makes it more inconvenient for most would be thief. With that in mind, it does fine.

    Does the metal top have bare aluminum on the sides? Looking at weathertech and it's bare metal. They look very similar. Tia

      I've sold the cover so don't have an answer for this.

    Nice video, just installed mine. One thing threw me off. When you first installed the weather strip, you ran it all the way from the rear. I did the same and when I closed the tailgate it got all jammed up. Ended up trimming that off.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’ll happen. I just trimmed off a little at a time so I got it as close to the tailgate as possible.

  • @hottuna076
    @hottuna076 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi you cleared a few things up for me how is this cover as far as security? I know if they want in they will get in just wondering what your thoughts are.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like you said, if they someone really wanted to, they’d get around any cover. This one is no exception. But I assume it’s about the same as others.

    Did you put the weather strip along the bed of the truck uo against the cab as well?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not.

  • @yearlaw
    @yearlaw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    why did you decide to go with lomax instead of buying another fold-a-cover G4 like on your previous truck?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m just too short for the ability to lift the cover panels at either ends to be useful. Might as well save some money with a cheaper design.

  • @JJP1960
    @JJP1960 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I watched another install video and they guy said he slanted the weather stripping down at the rear of the truck bed to facilitate closing of the bed. Is this recommended?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just cut the excess off but I suppose if it doesn’t get in the way, the excess can just be repositioned.

  • @TRDproMike

    Also do you still have it on your truck how’s it holding up?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually sold the truck and also sold the cover so I don't have any updates on it.

    Is the weather tech cover just a re-branded lomax cover?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They definitely look very similar but I can’t confirm with absolute certainty.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The manufacturer?

    • @ColeMan-uy8gd
      @ColeMan-uy8gd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tried. They don’t seem to have them on the website separately. I’ve already tried to call.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, if the manufacturer themselves don’t have the parts then it’s probably going to be an uphill battle. I hope whoever you bought it from has a good return/exchange policy.

    Thanks for the video! I had planned to buy the Diamondback tonneau cover. Where did you buy it? And did you get the black urethane?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about the Diamondback but it just doesn't fit the way that I use a truck bed. I bought this from AutoAnything but buy it wherever you can find it for the cheapest. Not sure what you mean by black urethane.

    • @mike480277
      @mike480277 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, and the Diamondback has more height than I wanted, and I have been trying to find exactly what you installed. This seller lists three color options. shop.agricover.com/product/lomax?_ga=2.266200847.1666020019.1575722344-1550935632.1575722344&_gac=1.54299098.1575766038.CjwKCAiAuK3vBRBOEiwA1IMhukppJrRK5DwaKnaoEQG3-Ek7nFLGim_2MnJuqaMOILOeXwwNwIzMCBoC-AEQAvD_BwE

      After some research, I believe that I have the standard matte black finish. The black urethane is something that was just recently released.

    • @mike480277
      @mike480277 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hai Tran Okay, thanks! I will have to do some research as to which makes more sense for me. A matte finish would look better if the other one is glossy, in my opinion.

    Hey great video very detailed and great explanation on everything. Quick question, is the 3rd gen Tacoma and 2nd gen Tacoma short bed length exactly the same? I went on their website and there is no option for any years of gen 2 Tacoma’s. Im pretty sure its the same but I just wanna double check before I spend $1000 on something that doesn’t fit my truck. Any help is appreciated thanks!

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never owned a 2nd gen so can't answer your question. Google will work out a lot better for you.

      Hai Tran did you pay extra or they come standard on trd pro

    • @HaiTran

      It's technically an optional add-on but it's been preinstalled on every Pro that I've seen come to the dealerships around here. Knowing this, it can be negotiated for free.
