I have always done all these. I still get rejected.
I find that if men are able to discover if a woman is interested in the first place, connections tend to form organically.
Because the reality is that when we do all those things we are then classified as nice guys and we all know that's not what they crave. Even a women can't properly explain what women really want. How's this for chivalrous? A lady friend of mine came to spend the day and have dinner at my place, and she let slip she had been forced to borrow a tampon from a housemate, but it wasn't a comfortable fit. While I was making dinner, I asked what her preferred size/type was, and while I was at the grocery store (picking up forgotten ingredients) I also bought her a box of those tampons.
When I got home I handed her the box on my way back into the kitchen without saying anything or making any fuss about it. Her jaw literally dropped, and her eyes got wide. Despite the potential intimate intrusion, I saw I'd made the right move.
Where eye-contact is concerned, I'm lucky. Guys have an assortment of preferences where physical attraction is concerned, and mine happens to be eyes. Truly windows on the soul. Also, it's nearly impossible to lie with the eyes, if you know what you're looking for. I love watching what flashes through a woman's eyes when she's speaking and/or reacting. That's my thing. ;)
