Amazing! Have only been fish keeping for 3 months but for some reason my two blue turqs have become a pair. Only young but fanning eggs for last 48 hrs! Never have I seen such dedication. Ever. Devoted to discus.
Isn't it a good idea to remove the clay vase after the hatching because the eggs that died before hatching could get mouldy? I don't wanna be a smart alec but I always removed the vase then on my breedings to reduce the risk of an aggravation of the water quality. Your pair looks beautyful. Thumb up for your video
Where’s this song from? Nacho Libre when he’s doing the flying eagle? It’s beautiful music. Gives me the chills . Reminds me of old Mexican ballads from 50-70s . Please share the instrumental!!!!
Absolutely beautiful video. I love how the parents take turns 'feeding' their fry. One feeds a while then moves out of the way and the other parent moves into position. Like a ballet. Thanks for the vid. :) ~Liz~
please advice about, feeding the parents during hatching period, cleaning method, lighting, is it ok to cover the cones to save the egs from eating, water changes, etc
Hi +Rushdy Fouzeen. Thanks for your interest. We will endeavour to add this information to another video and to our website soon. Please subscribe to our Facebook page, where we will also be adding Discus and other Fish tips.
Discus...they deserve the title of Kings of the aquarium....I want ..I want ...I want...this music sounds like good the bad and the ugly music - could be wrong...
If just for example my Discus babies come on body on 2 feb 2018 When should I start feeding them Brainshrimp Bec my male and female was fitting I removed male from tank Now all babies are on female
Yes they are fry. There is a Terracotta Discus Breeding cone which the Discus lay their eggs on. These can be purchased from our online store ( see video description)
Thanks for your lovely comments. You are welcome. Discus are certainly a majestic fish and that is why we specialise in them. We help everyone with achieving this dream and hope you can set up one soon.
Brilliant video..certainly gives inspiration to try and breed them..unfortunately I would have to travel about 300 miles just to buy a pair..to risky for the fish to travel such a distance.. Regards Robert
Thanks for your comments. We use Marine blue and White LED lights for a blue Turquoise Discus as it shows their colours effectively. These can be purchased via our online store.
+yuk wong If they are not still with their parents, you can feed them frozen "Baby Fish food", which is usually in the freezer of your local Aquarium store. Alternatively, crush very small bits of the yolk of a hard-boiled egg and feed sparingly. Hope this helps.
What Should I feed fries After 14-15days? Shrimp Eggs Are To Costly Anything Cheaper then that ?? What If I Directly feed them tetra products or beefheart After 15days they'll eat??
Great question! Here's a quick explanation: During the first 3 days after hatching, the fry remained attached to the cone where the parents laid their eggs, absorbing the yolk and gaining strength until all of the fry were able to swim independently. Then the shoal leave the cone and begin feeding on their parents' mucus, feeding for up to 10·min by biting at the parent's side until the parent expertly 'flick' the shoal over to its partner to continue feeding. The parents diligently fed their young intensely for 2 weeks. However, 3 weeks after hatching the parents' behaviour begins to change as they start swimming away from their young for brief periods. At the same time, the fry begin biting their parents less and investigating other food sources. By the fourth week, the parents actively swim away from their brood for the majority of the time and the fry barely feed from them.
