    Amazing! Have only been fish keeping for 3 months but for some reason my two blue turqs have become a pair. Only young but fanning eggs for last 48 hrs! Never have I seen such dedication. Ever. Devoted to discus.

      +Debbie Turner Your must be a lucky owner to have them pair off so soon! Best of luck! Yes Discus is also our passion.

    Isn't it a good idea to remove the clay vase after the hatching because the eggs that died before hatching could get mouldy? I don't wanna be a smart alec but I always removed the vase then on my breedings to reduce the risk of an aggravation of the water quality.
    Your pair looks beautyful. Thumb up for your video

    Where’s this song from? Nacho Libre when he’s doing the flying eagle? It’s beautiful music. Gives me the chills . Reminds me of old Mexican ballads from 50-70s . Please share the instrumental!!!!

    Absolutely beautiful video. I love how the parents take turns 'feeding' their fry. One feeds a while then moves out of the way and the other parent moves into position. Like a ballet. Thanks for the vid. :)

    does anyone tell me how to feed 5-day old baby fish please

    • @sydneydiscusworld
      @sydneydiscusworld  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +yuk wong If they are not still with their parents, you can feed them frozen "Baby Fish food", which is usually in the freezer of your local Aquarium store. Alternatively, crush very small bits of the yolk of a hard-boiled egg and feed sparingly. Hope this helps.

  • @watchensee

    At what age do the parents wean the fry? :)

    • @sydneydiscusworld
      @sydneydiscusworld  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! Here's a quick explanation:
      During the first 3 days after hatching, the fry remained attached to the cone where the parents laid their eggs, absorbing the yolk and gaining strength until all of the fry were able to swim independently. Then the shoal leave the cone and begin feeding on their parents' mucus, feeding for up to 10·min by biting at the parent's side until the parent expertly 'flick' the shoal over to its partner to continue feeding. The parents diligently fed their young intensely for 2 weeks. However, 3 weeks after hatching the parents' behaviour begins to change as they start swimming away from their young for brief periods. At the same time, the fry begin biting their parents less and investigating other food sources. By the fourth week, the parents actively swim away from their brood for the majority of the time and the fry barely feed from them.
