  • Hi everyone, parent raising will be discussed in this video. Mammalian parent raising is both unique and challenging, making the discus fish very rewarding to breed successfully. Here are some basic tips and tricks I use to breed my discus successfully.

My patience with my cobalt blue pair has finally been rewarded. After eating their eggs ten times, they have finally got free swimmers attached to them. Not many, only six that I could see. They may still have eaten some of the eggs. Either way, they are doing a good job with the six they have and are very protective of them. Im stoked.

Your techniques are similar to mine, but always great to see new idea's. Love to see how you treat your discus, very personal, like part of the family. Dankje!!

    Hello,
Nice video and very nice discus. The question is, how often and what kund of food do you feed the adult discus during and after spawning... until they separate from the young.
It happened to me that after a one week, the fish pair spawned again while they still had young and they ate their young.
    Thank you!

Hi discus Davina I discovered your channel a few weeks ago. I really enjoy watching you and your discuss. I have baby discus that are four weeks old. Should I give them a PP bath?

I know your comment is old, but I visited her today and she recommends 50cm x 50cm, however she uses 45cm x 45cm because they fit better on her racks.

Hello Divana. I have a problem in begining steps of breeding. I'll be appreciate if you help me.
At first the pair take care of babies carefully until the first two days of free swimming (10 days overall) but, suddenly I don't know what happens! All of them disapears and the parent start to lay new eggs! If they eat their babies why they don't earlier! I don't know exactly what's need to do! I don't want to raise them in a separate tank.

    Thanks for your help.
    Couple of questions.
After the wiggles become free swimming do you feed the parents but how much.
When do you resume water changes.

hello, i am after some help. for the first time i have got a whole batch of free swimmers. Had about 50-60 all has been fine they have been with the parents for about 10 days. i have lost all but 10 any idea why? i have them in my main discus tank but i have partitioned a section with good flow with white backgrounds so the fry can find the parents. The 10 have been fine now for about 5 days and seem to be growing well, but for next time i would like to have more than 10 at this point. Any advice would be appreciated? thanks

Hey thanks for your channel, i am loving your stories… do you put any discus minerals into your RO water or does it got straight in your tank? Sydney water is about 100ppm… so i can drop it down to 60 with RO water? No water conditioning additives?

Hello Discus Divana, do you prefer to breed and grow out Discus in a taller tank. would a 40 breeder be ok to house 1 pair, or should i go with a taller tank. i now have 2-90 gallon discus tanks, i kept 12 babies from the last batch, they are now 5 inches and laying eggs already, going to move some of them to a 125 gallon tank. but the young brother and sister are now laying eggs, i feed them live black worms, and frozen bloodworms and they grew pretty fast, i use ro/di water and add minerals i bought from Germany to remineralize my ro water. Thank you Joe H Navy Seabee

What a great video! I'm a hobby breeder to but since I changed my setup from single tanks to one big rack im not having any succes 🙄. I do get eggs and it seems that the proven males are furtilizing, but after 2 days all the eggs are white (except 10 or so)
I think it's my water parameters. I do have to say that I'm a little scared about the low tds that you're are using. Is it dangerous to have you're adults in water with that tds to long? What ph do you have? Maybe you can make a video once of how you make you're water?
Nevertheless I'm happy with youre tips so thx! And you have a new subscriber! 😉
