So if I take I buy a welder rig right know and if I know how to stick weld don’t go to a weld school just go out and break out and would a 05 Silverado 1500 4X4 work as a weld helper?
Solid advice!!!!! I don’t pipeline myself, but I do build oil and gas well sites. When a guy shows up and starts talking about going to welding school, yes he gets a target on his back.
I have been following you for a while now. I love how you and your brother provide such great, detailed, honest real life experiences with welding. I am a 57 yr old welder who came from a very poor migrant family. I knew no one who was a welder, was first in the family to even go past high school. But if not for a great teacher in high school who encouraged me to go to trade school, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Hector hit it right on the nail when he said schooling is nothing like hands on, out in the field work. I also spent thousands and ended up having to put that aside and learn the real work out in the field. I love my trade and I am glad that you all have this going for a new generation of inspiring welders. God bless and keep it up!
I went to Welding schools in Houston, I learned just the common weld joints and positions but I like I’m getting real world welding experience from older welders in my job
“Well I went to school… they didn’t fire me cause they saw the work ethic I had an they liked it” I’ve been in this similar situation before. 🎯 Absolute solid content. Keep it up 💪🏽
I went to school for 18 months and got an associates in welding technology and science. School was only 830-1230 m-th. I stayed till 6pm everyday(thank God for the instructors who saw it in me and kept the lab open). All we did was up hill till I saw Austin Ross and Luis Loya doing downhill and I individually started practicing it just to be comfortable with it. Plus doing everything you want cause you have everything at your disposal is everything.
actually working pipe i absolutely understand the school comments. starting as a grinder or helper is 100% but i see western welding academy is teaching real world.
I currently attend TWS, bro you’re absolutely right. Heck I don’t think they’re even thinking about teaching us how to use a darn torch. Wish I would’ve done more research on it.
Hey guys, thanks for all the info. Really informative. Im a structural guy, Im just getting my life to the point that I could get out on the line. I dont really have a timeline just trying to make it happen. Do you have a recommendation for finding an SA200? Im in Reno and it seems clapped out out destroyed SA200'S are in the $3k range on craigslist. Any cheats?
Cool I liked it. I am that guy that bought everything new😬. Never been in a pipeline yet 😐. But have enough money to do it all over.lol thank you Jesus 😁 I weld on mechanical pipe.
I got a 125 Lincoln welder I’m just starting to weld I like it so far I do metal gates nothing structural works fine I’ll have to try an sa200 when I get better tho
I understand the reasoning for not mentioning welding school when applying for a job but what would you say in place of that for them to know you have some type of knowledge of welding ???
Nice video again brotha , Im tryna get into the pipeline as a helper and I’ve also been practicing my downhill . I’ve been having some trouble when I get to the bottom , do you have any tips for that
hi, i have ben welding and ben around, i had my first job in a crane rental, and steel erector at 15 years olds just got a surprise recently from my union, they replaced my union card with a gold 50 year card.i have a few questions, how come you do not use a chipping hammer or grind when you change rods, where do you get those arm guards you use?
Amazing video loved it. I feel like most students should know that the certification don't mean nothing. Im going to Tstc for my Associates but that because I want to learn as much as I can. but I been told a lot already that the Associates and a Certification won't mean nothing. I know its a lot of money spent but I'm hoping at the end it will be worth it. I know that Tstc aint one of the best school but Im tryna take the most info I can from those teacher that been welding for years.
I'm from Minnesota What is your opinion on Western Welding Academy, I have been thinking about going there it's one of the closer ones to me. (Unless you know of a closer one?) But it seems like a great school?
The welding machine is true. I'm NOT a pipeliner, but everyone I know who wants to start their own mobile rig want the brand new machine. I still have a hobart champion 145 lol
I lied on my resume for my first welding job at an oil company. Said I had 3 years experience and I’m still working there to this day. Every contact I had told me to lie on my resume. If you do this, you will probably get a call for a job but you better perform or they will know
Wait if you had no welders in your family i see videos of your dad and a cousin of yours come help with a gate and he has all the machines and tools and stuff
Loya with that podcast y la playera mamalona de modelo🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 i got me 99 f250 7.3 powerstroke had enough tools lil hobart 225 to start my side gigs and mothefuckers got me sitting outside my job. recoverd the truck a month later bt all my tools and welder wuz gone. Trying to get my side gig back up and running.
I apologize the video was taken down! It somehow glitched and was a 36 minute video when it was supposed to be 17 minutes.
