I see your south coast welding sticker. I watch a lot of there videos. It would be awesome to see you collab with them and make a video. Your an awesome welder bro.
In Chattanooga years ago when I welded for Aerisyn the cone structures of these large windmills where each windmill would generate enough electricity for 650 homes those pipe type structures were large enough to drive cars down the middle of them and sometimes I would have to repair the sub arc welding Welds and I would run downhill mig beads that would be 30 and 40 ft long in with that 0.035 wire or r 0.045 wire when doing it right all those beads would look so beautiful and smooth and you could actually weld up large pipe structures like that so quick and fast with mig and but yet you see a lot of times, likethe flange being welded now that's going to take a while to weld that up it's going to take a while even to put a root and a hot pass in but if they would just hang a little tent over him and let him use a MIG welder oh within 5 minutes he can have the root pass in and then another 5 minutes he can have the hot pass in of course some welders are going to say what's the hurry nobody's rushing this why should we rush the longer we stay and drag out the job the longer we have a job to put money in our pocket so that's what you face with today they hold back good technology that would put in better looking beads quicker and faster all because they want to drag these jobs out
I’ve always been curious, as pipeline welders are you guys doing any sort of bead weave pattern or just dragging the puddle straight in a stitch type movement?
If you don’t go all the way to the bottom center of the pipe it’s called what?? Couldn’t hear well. Btw love your videos this style is perfect. No music in the background, right angles and great tips. I’m 19 and in welding school and your vids motivate me! 🇲🇽
In the older welding encyclopedias one welding rod that was touted to be one of the best of the best best best root pass welding rods was a 6013 1/8 welding rod to do downhill route passes it puts out a smooth bead like a 7018 drag rod does and it isn't very deep with its penetration therefore you don't have to worry about having blow throughs or ark blow from the end of your rod when putting a root pass it's really a good rod nowadays they just disdain it a little bit and call it a farmers welding rod but the 6013 is a good rod for putting in root passes if you going to use rods I still think the welding industry ought to take the advancement of MiG welding like Chevron oil company does with their inland pipe welders their welders get to put all the root passes downhill with mig but a lot of other industry still want their welders to put in the root pass with a stick which is much slower and even when it's put in right it just don't seem to look as good as a smooth mig rod does for that root pass but that makes too much sense and I have found that the direction that industry is going in today when it comes to the welding industry it seems like anything that makes sense is just tossed out the back door and they put people over welders that are not welders themselves and they don't have a clue of how long it takes to weld up something and that's why they exspect the impossible to be done in a few minutes which normally is going to in all actuality take a few hours to weld it's so backwards it's unreal and it's so depressing for welders to have to weld under supervisors who really don't know nothing about welding

Still surprises me none of you guys roll out these easy welds haha. Up here ( canada ) we would be run off position tag teaming a flange lol! Would be in a roller sith 5/32 bead then jump up to 1/4" 7018 to hot pass all the way to cap.
Ive been in welding school doing pipe for about a month now and in my class we only do uphill roots but I see alot of people doing it downhill when I watch people welding pipe why is that? Is it just faster? Also love the videos good work

Nice to see we have the same style of welding, I too like to commute with my bow to get a good view of the burn-in. Additional advantage is that any contamination can come up, and you can go a little higher in amperage. When watching videos like this, I like to hear the details of the work, and the variables you are dealing with. If I may advise, don't speed up the recording when editing, if someone finds it takes too long, they are not a professional idiot. Have you subscribed 👍
Sorry but that was translated too literally from Frisian to English. What I actually meant by commuting the bow? Working the arc forward and backwards.
What bush league are these guys playing in??? Here in 'Berta that big flange would have been roll welded and the final possy would have been the smaller branch of the spool.

when you tie in overlap a bit accelerate progressively quicker and flick the rod forward to break the arc
stops teaspoon crater and worm holes
Heat up the flange to avoid cracks and arc blow
