I have had a Haval H9 for 3 years now from new. It has traveled across the country on/off road (when we could travel), and has not missed a beat. Interior still going strong even after being torture tested by 3 young kids.
Bought the exact same model (high spec white color) back in June and I am loving it! To access the seat heating, drive modes, screen brightness and volume etc you can just swipe the screen from the left edge to the right instead of going into menus after menus. Haval Jolion brings serious value for money in this small suv sector.
Thanks for that! We tried that but it kept triggering the buttons on the screen. We’ve since read from another commenter the swipe needs to be from the very edge of the screen.

I have a MY21 HAVAL, Jolion, which I took delivery of in MAY this year. Have been really impressed with it overall so far. It now has a little over 4000km's on the dial. Fuel economy, On a recent trip from Bundaberg to Mackay, at an average speed of 105 KPH, I had no trouble achieving the nominated L/per 100k's. Acceleration is better than what you have specified and I have had no trouble overtaking B Doubles on the Marlborough Strip where the posted speed limit is 110KPH, have found that I am doing at least 170 KPH when I return to my lane after overtaking. Only real problem which I have encountered, and which I have been assured GWM are aware of and working on, is the Lane Keep Assist when on Cruise Control, it tends to apply the Brakes every time it looses "SIGHT" of the WHITE LINE on any Camera especially on bends in the highway. Overall am really impressed, mine is a Mid Spec model and it has ALL the "BELLS and Whistles" that my brothers $300,000 Mercedes AMG has, for less than10% of the price!!
Hey Merv, thank you for your elaborated review. However, May i ask how about the Nm torque you feel when push the accelerators? Does this suv push you back to your seat? My second inquiry, do you feel you on control on the car through steering wheel, does the steering wheels feels more on soft or firm? Thank you Merv!
@@javed_mate Am more than Satisfied with the Get up and Go, when the acceptor is floored it sits me back in the seat, not like a V8 but still noticeable.

Got the Ultra 2 months ago and love it. Have been in lockdown so haven't had a chance to get it on the open road yet though. Very fair review. Wish you drove it in sport mode. We find it much better. Also if you swipe from the left of the screen to the right you get a few short cuts including volume, which is great for the passenger as the only buttons are in the steering wheel, and the heated seats.

The ride was comfortable especially over back country roads. We have had four adults ride with the back seat belts challenging to click into place. The warning lights showed these were not correctly clicked. The passengers were surprised by leg & head room, even with the arm rest down for shared comfort. The luggage space was plenty for two suitcases & carryon bags from an air flight home. The six speaker sound system was easily adjusted for maximum pleasure for the driver . This is the first SUV in our price range and is more than enough for our, & family needs.

i have driven the haval h6 lux 2018 for nearly four years, long distance driving on a regular basis has proven to be nicest and most comfortable, safest ride fuel economy 9.5. i have only just replaced tyres. the only down side was the cost of fuel at 95ron i have just traded the havel for the new h6 GT ultra with a better fuel economy of 8.5 and it takes 91ron I recommend the Haval for a great driving experience and good bucks for your money, affordable luxury
Well for price point and tech ,warranty, fuel economy, why waste money on more known brands. It does the job and does it well . So if keeping a car for 7 years. Don't waste your time on more expensive vehicles. This will deliver all of what general public will appreciate. Simple cheap and works. Nice review Paul
I HAVE THE HAVAL H6 ULTRA AWD IN ENERGY GREEN AND ITS FANTASTIC..A BARGAIN AT 39K OTR WITH SO MUCH GERMAN ENGINEERING IN A CHINESE BUILT VEHICLE..EVERYBODY THINKS ITS A BRITISH OR GERMAN SUV..EXCELLENT WORK GWM..👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I bought a Jolion a few weeks ago. Really good quality and price. Had a Tucson before. Swipe from left side to right to see the quick menu to access heated seats and volume etc. Also you can change the mode to sport and it will reduce the acceleration lag etc (this video was done in normal mode which is slower and less revvy).
I had a look at one. Its interior is amazing for the price, and it looks great too. The Chinese are really catching up. They arent a joke anymore. It is exceptional value.
Value is always subjective. Most if these are pretty shitty to drive with Road noise, driving dynamics etc. But again if those don't matter and gadgets matter for paying pennies it ticks the box.
Have a look at the WheelsBoy youtube channel for a review (in English) of cars in China. It might surprise you how much the market has matured and become more consumer focused.
The Lang Lang proving ground is a good testing area for your vids, its good to see that you can test most road conditions there and the more dynamic driving your allowed to do there gives a good idea of the real world NVH on film, good video on this one too, would prefer the Jolion over the old mitsu ASX anyday
A really good effort for the price. If they can iron out the niggles for the next update it deserves to (and probably will) sell well. Also these Chinese vehicles should be a big wake up call to other manufacturers. They are ignoring them at the moment as they are still fairly new but give it a couple of years and you will see more Chinese brands in the top ten.
you are right, as the car is called "chu lian" (means "first love") in China's market, and Jolion is the pronunciation translation of its Chinese name.
Everything about the Joilion I really like. The Exterior took a little getting used to but once I seen one up close I change my mind and now I just played love it well as the interior honestly it feels like I’m driving a top spec European car As for price versus the toys that I get this far superior than a Hyundai or Kia and that hurts to say as I love both Hyundai and Kia
My sister’s good friend picked up one a couple of months ago Paul. She absolutely loves it! She said it’s very impressive for the money. I guess time will tell. Although she did have to sell her 2016 Mustang to run the grand kids around!🤬 I told her just to leave em behind!🤣👍🏼

I just that I am still paying for my bond but when I get settled. I am definitely buying Haval h6 or Jolion what a lovely SUVs with incredible features this is luxury. 👏👏👏
There is a sports mode, acceleration is much faster and gears shifts differently as well. Fuel consumption goes to hell :D That said, you can access the modes by swiping from the left of the console screen. ECO is really efficient, but slow like a tortoise when it comes to acceleration (especially on cruise control) I know I am 2 years late.
Great review Paul!! Traded our 2014 X-trail for one and absolutely loving it! Has a few quirks I’m hoping they fix (no volume adjustment other than steering wheel and an annoyingly loud indicator sound lol) but otherwise great. As for the Chinese writing I’m pretty sure they fix that when you pick it up as we have English writing on all the screens :)
I went to their Chinese website for more information. The name Jolion came from the Chinese term for "first love", although GWM has also given it an official interpretation as a "joyful lion", with a matching mascot. Different configurations in China are named after the years in college - freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. The car is aimed at young adults, with the top configuration selling for about AU$ 25k there. I can't find any crash test, though.
My friend has just bought one of these,in the end it came down to features for the money, to get heated leather and sunroof in any other brand was $45-50k. They also offered 5k more than her 2yo Honda Civic trade in was worth, so are deadly serious about gaining market share.
Thanks Paul, yet another useful review. Will need a second car for commuting soon and this is on the list, especially considering secondhand prices at the moment. Lack of telescopic steering could be a dealbreaker though at 6'2".
Looks pretty smart the rear looks similar to a Volvo XC60 I'm one of the Chinese car critic's but it's hard to ignore they are selling in huge numbers so they can't be bad .Are you able to review the MG us phev
One thing you should have covered was the safety. You can let the steering wheel go at 100kms/h and it steers itself which has been amazing. Blind spot monitor is excellent. You should have showed what happens when you start to veer over a line the car will correct your steering. The only feature we turned off was the distraction feature as turning the AC on bongs on the screen about paying attention to the road Lastly the cluster is fine we got ours 3 months ago and it's all English including stop signs etc. If you need a jolion to test with mate happy to loan it..
Please tell us more about the annoying beeping. (What can and can't be disabled - and is it back on when you restart the car?) Thanks for the review! :)
We've got a new H6 Ultra and it's INSANELY good! 2.0T 150kw/320Nm and boy does it poke!! Amazingly at the same time, it's super quiet inside too. Has more goodies than the Jolion and it's absolutely MASSIVE inside. We have a family of 5 and there's tonnes of room. Aimed directly at the Tuscon and RAV4, it's at least $10000 cheaper than the equivalent spec model. My belief is it's so cheap because it lacks an ANCAP rating. Once they have one established, the price will climb but will still remain just under the competition. Happy to lend you ours if you like. Just on 2000km on the clock.
@@jzvr5842 lol you have no idea . It certainly isn’t the best car on the road and like all the rest of the COVID country cars it will be a throw away in a few years
Yeah of course, although I suggest getting a MG ZST since your looking for that size price point. MG is well-known, reliable, trustworthy and etc and it’s mainstream. The engine and DCT is much better on the ZST compared to the jolion and there are some rotary dials compared to the all digital for the jolion which drives me mad that everything is through that screen. If you have the extra $3,000 - $5,000 to spend (depends on what trim you get) I suggest getting the ZST.
Love your reviews man! Haval Hybrids are coming into Australian market. Could you please do a comparison H6 Hybrid vs Rav 4 Hybrid. Will be looking forward to it. Thanks & keep up the great work.
Learning the electronics is a pain. One thing if you cannot get driving data on the screen through the wheel, hold OK button for two seconds.then up and down will change pages etc. As others have said swiping from very left edge of main screen will bring up volume , driving mode selections , heated seats etc. The other pain is the adaptive cruise control, good at keeping distance from car in front, but brakes excessively for the most minor corner even when no cars in sight to the point that you need to use the gas for all corners. Am told turning off lane keeping function will deactivate this annoying thing. Haven't tried that yet.
Great review. Styling is way ahead of the mainstream manufacturers and the pricing is amazing. I would be hesitant to purchase for a few reasons - wait for crash test results, predictions are that we will be flooded with Chinese EVs in the next couple of years and, considering the current political climate, I'm not in a hurry to buy anything Chinese.
@@normanafif1268 that’s a bit suss, I’d love to see a review on the ZST as well. Paul did a review on the MG EV though which is why I thought MG would allow the review
Reminds me of a low cost Polestar. For that kind of money, it'll be interesting to see what they could do with this as an EV. Only very minor adjustments to the seats and steering as you mentioned in the video Paul, could make for a really good family hauler. I'll be waiting on the crash test first, but it looks a lot more roomier than my Mazda CX-7!
I just had one recently for a courtesy car and i wasnt aware of the lane assist feature, it freaked me out, i thought there was something wrong with the car! , managed to turn it off but it seems to turn back on every time you restarted the car. That thing is dangerous!

i have driven the haval h6 lux 2018 for nearly four years, long distance driving on a regular basis has proven to be nicest and most comfortable, safest ride fuel economy 9.5. i have only just replaced tyres. the only down side was the cost of fuel at 95ron i have just traded the havel for the new h6 GT ultra with a better fuel economy of 8.5 and it takes 91ron I recommend the Haval for a great driving experience and good bucks for your money, affordable luxury
Hi,
How is it now?
I'm in the market for one?
What is your advice?
These new Chinese cars will make those Korean car company a run for their money.
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the car.
Same here, bought the Lux and I'm loving it.
@max which one do you like better? the Tucson or your new car?
How is your car going? I am also planning to buy jolion pro 2025
The look of this car seems perfect
Picking up this car in a week or so. Purchased it in Black. Thanks for this review. So excited!!
These a great reviews. Quality and very professional keep it up.
Thank you!
Agreed!
Dynamics in this one were surprisingly good.
Have a look at the WheelsBoy youtube channel for a review (in English) of cars in China. It might surprise you how much the market has matured and become more consumer focused.
@@michaely4165thank you. i think it is great. It forces other established brands to up their game. It is already selling really well here.
The Lang Lang proving ground is a good testing area for your vids, its good to see that you can test most road conditions there and the more dynamic driving your allowed to do there gives a good idea of the real world NVH on film,
good video on this one too, would prefer the Jolion over the old mitsu ASX anyday
Thanks! And it’s a great facility.
The front fascia is just awesome, striking
A really good effort for the price. If they can iron out the niggles for the next update it deserves to (and probably will) sell well. Also these Chinese vehicles should be a big wake up call to other manufacturers. They are ignoring them at the moment as they are still fairly new but give it a couple of years and you will see more Chinese brands in the top ten.
Jolion has a very nice Chinese name, direct translation is FIRST LOVE ❤️❤️
Got my Ultra and I am loving it! Fun fact: Jolion means ‘first love’ - how fitting 😊
There you go! Enjoy the car.
you are right, as the car is called "chu lian" (means "first love") in China's market, and Jolion is the pronunciation translation of its Chinese name.

I wouldn't knock chinese cars anymore. They're getting better at it, to be fair they're doing better than our car industry.
I have the mid spec Lux and love it. you can swipe left to right on the screen to bring up shortcuts for seat heating etc..,
Thanks for that! I tried that but it would select the menu items. Is there extra setup required?

7 years warranty. It'll last a while longer given the scale of production. Spare parts will be easy to get for a long time...

What is your advice?
I just that I am still paying for my bond but when I get settled. I am definitely buying Haval h6 or Jolion what a lovely SUVs with incredible features this is luxury. 👏👏👏
There is a sports mode, acceleration is much faster and gears shifts differently as well. Fuel consumption goes to hell :D That said, you can access the modes by swiping from the left of the console screen. ECO is really efficient, but slow like a tortoise when it comes to acceleration (especially on cruise control)
I know I am 2 years late.
Very nice review. Thank you.
Thanks!
Amazing. Thanks for that feedback!
Swipe from left edge of the screen and volume control and other controls will appear
I thought I was the only one annoyed with the indicator noise
This is one off the top selling cars in south Africa in 2021
I went to their Chinese website for more information.
Yep - the value for money argument is sound!

The only feature we turned off was the distraction feature as turning the AC on bongs on the screen about paying attention to the road
Lastly the cluster is fine we got ours 3 months ago and it's all English including stop signs etc.
If you need a jolion to test with mate happy to loan it..
Please tell us more about the annoying beeping. (What can and can't be disabled - and is it back on when you restart the car?) Thanks for the review! :)
You can disable it all, but as far as I can tell it all comes back on again 😭
I have a Jolion. You can disable most of the features or set them to vibrate through the steering wheel.
I just bought the Lux model H6 and can’t fault it, drives great with good elevation. I would definitely recommend the H6 over the Jolion.
And in 5 years time it will be 100% cheaper then the competition

Agreed - they are hugely improved!
I love the design, and all the features. I'm trying to convince my Mum to get one.
@@johnh760 Haval is China's number one selling SUV brand and has been for a long time, they're a proven brand just like China's MG (owned by SAIC).

Love your reviews man! Haval Hybrids are coming into Australian market. Could you please do a comparison H6 Hybrid vs Rav 4 Hybrid. Will be looking forward to it. Thanks & keep up the great work.
Maybe if those back seat headrests are put down into their lowest setting you might be able to see better out the back window
Can you please review the H6
Soon!
Pity the number plate isn't BBBJ. My favourite.
Yes excessive slow down on corners, I get to anticipate this and have foot ready on accelerator. You would think a software upgrade could fix this
i saw one in person and the h6 too they are good and the pricing is very tempting. i would buy the h6 .
Hoping to test drive one of those soon!

I just put an order in for one as our 2nd car. Needed something with a ton of safety kit for the school run and the price is right.

I probably wouldn't buy a Chinese brand at this stage but competition is certainly welcome.
Fair enough!

Reminds me of a low cost Polestar. For that kind of money, it'll be interesting to see what they could do with this as an EV. Only very minor adjustments to the seats and steering as you mentioned in the video Paul, could make for a really good family hauler.
