The German guy who wants to stay here is going to find that he misses the trees a lot. (He ought to look at the Seattle area where they have nice trees)
You drive 15 or 20 minutes northeast of Alamogordo and you're in trees. Big mountains - Sierra Blanca etc. relatively close by. I was stationed at nearby at White Sands Missile Range.
Ace - If you've never been to Germany, maybe you don't really understand what he meant when he said that in the U.S. there is more freedom.. Germany is a beautiful, modern, well-kept country, but it is small by American standards, and it is the most populated European country...so, in order to coexist peacefully with your neighbors you've got to stick to a lot of regulations, just like in Japan. You can¡t make loud noises at home, for instance...you can't throw a party whenever you feel like, everything is regulated. In the USA, the country being so big, things are different, much different !
@@derkernspalter- Maybe so if you consider the ratio population/square miles, but no other European country has Germany's population, well over 80 million people.
Actually might will happen..as the F35 is at #1 on the Luftwaffe "need to -buy list" in addition It could be possible that they will train the Crews for the new FCAS and the Future Attck Drones there...I mean Holloman has so many advantages we do not have here in Germany like a huge open airspace with very very little civil air traffic, the existing infrastructure.. ect ect ect...and they are only withdrawing the Tornados wich will be faced out presumably between 2020 and 2022.
I was stationed there as a German Air Force Officer from 2001 to 2006 and now I am an American - never regretted it. God bless America
Welcome home brother!

Du bist immer noch Deutscher!

Maybe he'll miss the trees but he won't miss the clouds and the rain that come with all these trees.

Living in Germany is alot more Expensive .
I hope he finds his dream in San Diego but yeah I get what your saying best of luck to them both
Maybe the Germans should buy F-35A and use Holloman for training with the US Air Force.

With a democratic President and not an narcisstic fool this would have been likely - and of course DE could have had made a real big deal then ...
I don't really think that we will buy F35, mainly for political reasons. Possibly some Growlers and more replacement Typhoons. And FCAS.

Well Hamburger got its name from Hamburg in Germany. Its not surprising....just kidding.
When Germany has to leave Alamogordo. Then you piss off from Ramstein
!
The reason the US is in Germany is different than why the Germans are in the US.
Its the Germans who are pulling out, not the US pushing them out.
