After two weeks-long visits to New Mexico with focus on Alamogordo, we are moving there in a couple of years for retirement. Already bought a number of acres of mountainside land to build on. Looking forward to non-midwest winters and lots of sunshine, exploring & traveling in the area. Without exception, everyone we had met in those travels were as friendly as can be.
Very nice point in new Mexico. The peoples are very Friendly and Lovely. I come from germany and my sister are Living there from September 2013 - December 2016 and I was one Time there to visit my sister and I have said: In 10 years, is that my home. And now in 7 years is alamo my home💙
What, no mention of Trinity Site, White Sands National Monument, Sunspot Observatory, Dog Canyon, Inn of the Mountain Gods, or other fascinating (relatively) nearby sites? I grew up in Alamogordo, and now hope to return for retirement.

Brings back memories! Only place I haven’t been . Son owned a home there until transferred to Florida! Most beautiful plane to watch, the stealth! We never got to the museum of space!😢
Alamogordo is my home. There is no other place I'd rather be except the ocean, but I do have White Sands. Lol! Great place to live. The negative things y'all hear happen all o er. We're not immune to crime, drugs, shootings, etc. It's reality. Basically, as long as you don't buy, sell or trade drugs, get involved with gangs or commit crime you are pretty safe here. Very seldom does a civilian get hurt who is not part of all the crime and drugs. Alamogordo is a great place to retire. There is a lot to do. There's no Disneyland here. You have to create your own and here you can do that.
Not right weather for anglos plenty of shin cancer hundred nine can you handle that heat I'm a native it's hot weather made for us native this where the creator put us the USA not Europe or Spain
Depends upon when you were there! Made quite a few visits there to visit our son or go shopping! We enjoyed the people we met, very friendly! He still has friends in Germany ! I thought Riodoso was nice also !
