- This former Dinn Corporation wooden coaster was given the RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction) IBox track conversion in 2011, bringing about the most significant change in the industry since the turn of the century. In addition to turning this former woodie into a steel hybrid coaster, the height was increased by 10 feet ( m) to 153 feet and the drop was made steeper (79 °), which also boosted the top speed to over 65 mph ( km/h). However, the best new features are the over-banked turns (up to 95 °).
Check out the other on-ride video we posted to see what it's like to be in the back seat of this thrilling coaster:
This Six Flags park is located near Dallas in Arlington, Texas.

Just rode this yesterday and it's by no means tame. One of the few coasters that I scream in terror vs. maniacal enjoyment😅
Such an underrated ride. The airtime on this coaster (while not as crazy as other RMC's) absolutely rules.
I love how you can see Titan cresting over the first drop at the beginning
Love New Texas Giant! I’ve ridden 13 RMC’s and don’t understand how people call this a weaker RMC.
I find New Texas Giant to be better than Jersey Devil, Wonder Woman, Goliath, Twisted Cyclone, and Storm Chaser.
Just planned our family trip. We will be going in November. So excited to get to ride this one. The OG RMC. 😊
Best roller coaster at six flags over Texas
Its underrated at this point
This rude is so underrated. Chalk full of airtime and long as heck.
That coaster is fun as hell
My buddies and i all had season passes when the gaint was built, and we riode the hell out of it!!! Rough ride that makes you come back for more...
Kinda crazy how tame it looks considering how inovative and groundreaking it was in 2011. Almost looks like a Family Coaster compared to what RMC did afterwards.
I rode steel vengeance at CP last week and it's insane.
Wau úžasná jizda vypadá plynulá a ten světelný tunel paráda.
Rockin the wide angle lense, I dig it!
RMC should convert judge roy scream so we can get some of the newer RMC features like back to back inversions and hang time that feels like you are literally going to fall out. RMCs newer conversions are insane
This feels so tame compared to RMCs newer conversions like steel vengeance
Might be the 'tamest' RMC conversion coaster? Still looks fun!
The last time I was on this was in 2007 before they closed it for renovation. The older version would rattle your entire body to the point of feeling like your brain was going to come loose inside your head. I hope the renovation has smoothed out the shaky ride.
there's some people who get bad vertigo from inversions it's nice that at least one RMC I-box upgrade chose to not do inversions.
Really nice pov. It looks like you're using your old camera from between 2014 and 2016. Have you turned off the stabilization of this go pro?
Stabilization was off for this one. Glad you liked it! -Scott
Agreed, it looks super smooth
@@calvinpetty343 he can use this feature over and over again on many other rollercoasters.
Cool blue trains
thank you for reviewing six flags over texas. my home park.
So scary I was shaking when I got off
Nice POV! Thanks for not stabilizing.
Considering this version of the ride has been around since 2011, I think they can take the "new" out of the name and just go back to "Texas Giant." Haha
Looks much less jerky and bumpy!! Is it still wood??
It hasn’t been wood in over 10 years
It’s an RMC hybrid coaster, meaning steel track and wood supports.
I wonder if they have ever thought about refurbishing this again and adding an inversion or two.
So tame compared to the RMCs that would follow.
I’m sure this would be better at night. Like CoasterForce’s Mom.
My mom is 72 and in bed by 9:30 every night. She’s better during the day. 🤷♀️ -Scott
It looks so slow now
Its faster irl or maybe it’s a empty train
it’s an empty train
I'm super curious on how or who you talk to to allow you to put a GoPro on this ride as I have tried to request many times from Six Flags over Texas to either wear a body cam wrist strap and they have not actually denied but just send me their policy on filming on rides even though I messaged corporate to see if I can get a waiver of some sort I'm not a fan of Six Flags policies on this matter as other major theme park chains allow you to bring cameras on as long as it's attached with the appropriate attachment example, chest mount or wrist mount cameras. As for the ride, it's my favorite at Six Flags over Texas, which is my home park
Must be running really slow, second half looks forceless
I’m confused. How is this coaster so loved when it’s mostly just hill overbanked to the left into hill overbanked to the left…?
Airtime. Also it was the very first rmc hybrid coaster
Have you ever rode it?
Go ride it and find out for yourself
@@xKyanite ride and see why. You can’t have an opinion on a coaster you haven’t ridden 💀
I have ridden this coaster many times, and I think the first drop is wonderful, but the rest of it is underwhelming.
Unpopular opinion: I prefer the original John Pierce-designed Texas Giant with it’s “Magic Carpet Finale”. Nothing against RMC, but this is kind of…meh
It definitely feels less wild than the original. RMC tamed it for sure, but I agree that there’s something missing from it now compared to the original though Maybe I just see the original through rose colored glasses because it was the first “big” coaster I got to ride. I used to go to six flags with my family when I was too little to ride the original giant so there was always a “forbidden fruit” element to it for me. When I was finally big enough to ride it I went CRAZY for it. I love the RMC conversion and I think it’s very underrated. But I sometimes miss the old giant.
I would def go on it after upgrade. Loved the original. Maybe wouldnt miss the vibrate all your bones loose from original😂. I live way to far away now.
