I have watched nearly all the sewing videos on this channel at this point, and so to finally see the ~origin~ of the best dress pattern was really exciting and unexpected!

Hahaha I love that! A little mystery adventure through videos to find certain pieces!

Yeah I came back to this video after seeing another video that used the pattern. I'm not nearly as comfortable sewing knit fabric so when I finally get around to it I think this dress will be one of the first things I make

"I went to JoAnn for *hook and eyes*." Oh, this is such a mood... especially if I walk in and they're having a 75% off on remnants sale. 😂😂😂

I used to dislike gathering as well until I learned this trick: stich in a piece of yarn on one side and then zig zag over the yarn and down the entire length. Then you pull the yarn until the gathering is even. I do a straight stitch to keep everything in place. Hope this helps.

Yes!! It was how I felt when took sewing classes with a friend. My pieces weren’t perfect but I simply loved it! She would look at me and say…are you wearing that? And I would say…Oh Yeah!!!
    Congrats! Mission accomplished. 😊

Secret to keeping the dining table clean? It's really a sewing table!

I just had this thought the other day. My dining room table wouldn't be nearly as grit, grease, or crumb free if I weren't always laying fabric out on it

I went to Joanne's today for Simplicity patterns that are on sale for $1.99. I actually only got 4 patterns this time. And for me not to use for my Grand-daughter or to make doll clothes. 2 dress, 1 petticoat and 1 apron patterns.

I can't make anything without patterns but I never cut the pattern paper. I lay new pattern paper over the pattern and then draw over the lines for my size. Thus you can use the same pattern for other sizes

Anyone else’s dogs go off on a barking fit thinking it was the first bite of the doorbell when she bleeped her swear? Just mine?
Comfy cardigan like goodness I’d love a wool one for the cold moths! Also like the volume of fabric for swoosh factor in your skirt.

Hello from Siberia! You have done a great job! This is amazing! I’ll tell you about my sewing experience, I also tried to sew according to a pattern, then spat, ordered a service from a stylist for a color type and type. The next step is to take measurements and make basic drawings of products, then buy an ordinary cotton fabric, sew off test patterns, and only then choose a fabric according to its characteristics. Thank you for the video! This is a huge motivation. After the holidays, I’m thinking of just doing this, I’ll start with a removable collar and patchwork vest. Happy holidays!

I'm with you & patterns. It's like if a pattern is involved that project will most likely keep getting put in my I'll do it later pile. May I suggest drafting a longer sleeve 1st than short. It's easier to keep the cap straight from the sleeve if long. DEFINITELY MARK/CUT NOTCHES WHEN MAKING. 2 for the back usually 3.5" from pit, 1 single notch for the front 3.0" from pit.

    • @gettheetothestitchery

Good note, I'll keep that in mind for whenever I finally get around to exploring sleeves... hopefully soon!

This may sound dumb or stupid but could you maybe make your design sketches darker? I always found them hard to see(I have the sight of fourth blind mice so it may just be me)if not, that's fine I furgured I'd ask.

Such fun! And it's clear you love the yellow skirt just by your face when you're wearing it. Could you go over sometime how to hem a deeper hem on a circle skirt please? Should it always be done by hand to make all of the little adjustments as you go around the long curve of the lower skirt edge? I know you hate working with patterns--here's one more thing to hate them for... For the most accurate cutting guide from your paper pattern, you should carefully iron the paper shapes after cutting them out. It helps you get the full flat shape and accurately transfer your marks from the paper to the fabric. Happy sewing!

It was my favorite of this batch! I actually don't know how to get a wider hem on a circle skirt, other than adding folding every once in a while on the back. Hemming circle skirts in general is something I need to practice more... mine are usually a little messy on the inside.

I thought a capsule wardrobe was between 12-15 items, but I could be full of it. After having seen all of the capsule videos, I think they all together work as a capsule wardrobe. The yellow waffle-knit shirt you ended up making with that skirt would probably be super cute, for example. Just my thoughts tho.

I love those long cardigans on other people, but cannot wear them myself. I feel like I’m wearing a bathrobe every time I put one on. I feel like I should be naked or that I might be naked. 😂

I think every pattern should have a QR code on the pack that takes you to a 20 minute tutorial on how to construct the garment because I do not understand pattern instructions as I’m a visual learner and those instructions may as well be written in ancent latin. I just want QR codes

This is such a great idea. I know a lot of costube pattern makers will have accompanying videos; maybe larger pattern companies will follow suit.

That skirt though! Absolutely fabulous!! But now, wait a minute. Did I see you searching for pockets on the white dress? Did you forget to put POCKETS on the white dress??? How dare!!! For shame.... or something like that... Gotta agree with you on the coat. Um, maybe it'll keep you warm if Cali has a cold spell and gets down to 70 degrees? ;) And I do like the cherry top -- that fabric is too cute, and the blouse you made is simple so the style doesn't compete with the fabric if you know what I mean. Overall, good job!

Time I admitted, I cannot: color coronate, or make a capsule wardrobe because my brain doesn't work that way. Very little of what I wear can be worn with anything else except a basic color like dark blue, black, gray or shade of white. It is not like being color blind but it is like being color blind.

I find the outside loud noises aren't very noticeable. Or more obvious to you unless emphasized like when you stop talking and let us listen to the rain beating down or the wind whistling loudly.
