Darn I wish that I kept all the original parts to mine. I'm about to restore mine now but I think I'm going to restore it to the way it was when I rode it. Mine is an 83 like yours and I got it when I was 12. I was in the freestyle scene and changes lots of the parts. My mother still has pictures of me doing tricks on the DB so I think the bike should look like the pictures instead of stock. But I like yours. I like the way you cleaned it up without doing a full resto. Gives it an honest clean look. Good job!
Beautiful bike! The 83 viper was my dream bike, which I finally owned in 85 until it was stolen (outside an arcade, of course). I just picked up an 85 viper, that I'm starting to restore. Still hunting for an 83! Cheers.
@@monkeytennislee2493 Excellent! Didn't stick to vintage parts. Perfect chrome frame, no rust. New, black skyways, original diacompe breaks, new cables, new black bearclaw pedals, new bearings/chain. Looks/rides brand new except for some scuffing on the original decals... which I've considered replacing, but haven't done so yet. It was a lot of fun to restore.
I had a Large Pro in '83. I can't afford one nowadays. Prices are crazy. The Silver Streak is also worth significantly more than this one. It still makes me smile when I look at it though, good memories from when kids actually new how to have fun!
I had a senior Pro in the 80’s, they are ridiculously expensive now. I also wish I kept it. The Viper is also rather expensive but more affordable right now. Prices just keep going up!
Whoever just scored the 83 DB in Ontario Canada for 50 bucks on Marketplace ....GOOD SCORE. !!!! Missed it by 5 min. Bet it hung there for 30 years. Wow, the pads are worth 5x what you paid for the entire bike!!!!.

@@navarredr 🙏great to here pal. Just about to start a 83 viper myself can’t wait. Thanks for the update dude ✊
Turned out really nice! Really enjoy the vintage stuff.
yes love you video back to the 1980s
Nice work I just build my 1983 Peugeot bmx.
My first Mountain Bike was a Peugeot. 1991, fully rigid, cro-moly frame. It was a great bike!
Besides the DG this DB is one of my fav bikes
I had a Silver Streak back in 84.... very similar. Cool video! Takes me back

Yes! Looking good 👍
This was the bike I had in early 80's. I wish I had kept it. I loved my diamond back 🐍all my old bikes as a kid are now the old classics.

Ohh that's beutiful, personally I think it needs a little bit of color but its still super nice
I think the same. New decals, black accents and pads should make it pop
I just bought one last week. Not complete. But doesn’t have the brake tab on the rear frame like yours has. Any ideas why? Ty
You might be referring to the chain guard tab. If yours doesn’t have it you probably have a nicer frame such as a Silver Streak which is full cro-moly
diamond back and redline best bikes
Just got my chrome 85 viper out of my parents garage. Cleaned it up and it's pretty close to mint. Any idea on value?
Vipers usually aren’t as expensive as the Cr-mo models. I paid $500 for this ‘83. Your ‘85 should be around the same, $500-$600
What breaks did you use?
Original brakes. The bike is 99% OG
What are 83 dimandback vipers worth just bought a frame
My complete bike is probably about $600
Nice bike. What do you believe its worth? I bought one today.
Around $600? Not really sure.
@@TonyHob Thanks! I paid 225 for it and thought I got a good deal. I was 10 years old in 1983. :)
That’s an awesome deal! I paid $450 for this one and restored it with the original components.
Meh I have on, but not as tidy.
Wish I had my old ‘83 senior pro 😓😢
