You know, there were lots of rad bikes in the 80s but somehow Diamond Back is the one that stands closest to me. It was a DB that made me crazy about BMXes for the first time in the early 80s, it was a DB that I could call my first serious bike and DB has been the brand that I had the most bikes from ever since, for some reason I have a sweet spot for them. It is hard to put my finger on it but they all feel kind of magical to me still✨ Chrome and blue has always been the raddest!💙
Silver and black with a white UNI seat/seatpost and Powerlite bars, just like mine! Rode it every day to school, elementary to high school, until it got stolen spring ‘95 of my senior year. RIP, my beauty.
The first ever real BMX I rode was a diamond back silver streak my friend let me have a go on woolston swimming baths car park , couldn't believe how light and nimble this bike was . It was a whole year before I got my bike that I still have to this day thanks Lee for the loan of your bike . Magical times growing up in the 70s/80s priceless !
I like the raced up number plate and pads for sure! I think a white brake cable, seat and number plate would really bring out the white font in the decals.
this bike is a beauty, my mate had one and i rememeber doing truck drivers over ramps with it, wonder where it went, awesome video , stay rad from ireland
Great job!! That bike looks insane awesome!! I want one. Lol. Keep up the great work. I had a silver streak at one time. I have a newer diamond back now. Just got it. It rides incredible.
Nice build very much like the one I ran in 83/84 except I ran an 890 on the rear with no front brake, CW handlebars with a DK stem and Sugino cromo 1 piece cranks.
Sharp looking bike ! I had a viper as a kid and loved the look but I didn't like the chain tabs either ! Always liked pads and numberplate but she looked great bare too
I Love the way this turned out the colors and the wheels are killer I love both with or without pads but if I'm showing it then pads and plate. I still have my 82 DB Silver Streak from the 80s with the baseball Logo so Japanese made I'm about to start a rebuild on mine but I'm going all red theme with chrome frame just Gathering parts, Good to know that our neighbors across the ditch have the stickers and cranks I'm looking for as I'm in New Zealand your builds are inspiration to me keep up the Great work.😎
You got great taste, it's presented well in your builds! Pads, plate, donuts and the hints of extra color with great balance. I would be a shame if you removed your personal preferences with your bike builds
Bikes like this looked so futuristic and incredible in the 80's.. could stare at them for hours..

That is a real work of art. Just beautiful.
Everything you did is perfect on this build.
Keep the pads and plate in my opinion.
Blue and chrome is awesome!
I could stare at this for a while 🤩
Right on!

I used to have a Blue and Chrome Kuwahara Factory bike. Looking at this build makes me wish I still had that bike.

The first thing we did as kids in 89-92 era was strip off the decals.
Seeing it bare beings back alot of memories.
Looks awesome!!! This gave me motivation to finish up my 81 silver streaks!!! The pads and number plate look killer!! Stay RAD🤙🏻
Turned out absolutely killer. RAD!
I like it all padded up.
I like the total build. With pads and plate more. 👍👌
Thanks! 👍

Sick lookin build dude. Stoked for Tulsa!
Same here!
Plate and pads!
It's a beauty without but with pads and plate for me.
I'm in the process of rebuilding mine. The blue really pops. Has me rethinking the black accessories since currently I only have the black chain ring.
Nice. With pads and number plate
Thanks 👍

Totally agree
Pads and Plate 😁
NO.2, WITH PADS BUT WITHOUT THE NUMBER PLATE.
I Love the way this turned out the colors and the wheels are killer I love both with or without pads but if I'm showing it then pads and plate.

I remember the blue max too same era🙂
Yup I just built one! Go watch the video
Pad and plate looks better, finished look
raced up but original db pads.
I got 1983 Db in man cave,
I have an all original 83 DB with OG pads
You have a great eye
What kind of Black stand do you have to hold the bikes?
Amazon
Why not use the DiaCompe frame clamps that everyone used to use in the 80s for the brake cable instead of velcro? Looks more sano
Because I didn’t want to 🤷🏼♂️
No pads/plate ❤
Where do you source the irredescent rim tape?
Amazon

Thank you so much!
Did you ever see the dirt skirts?
I have one on my Cook Bros
Pads and plate
Too many original parts from the 80s will make the bike look like a horror show
